Love it! Very talented family.

Shame they didn’t actually watch tonight’s trial before writing the lyrics.

BlueBelle Fri 11-Nov-22 21:58:40

Personally as much as I dislike the Tories and Hancock I don’t think it’s nice to see children being used to sing songs of derision
Ok I m a sour dough but I don’t like it

Good point. I love this family but they're a bit out of touch on this.

Just watched the video, and I dont like it. Agree with Bluebelle on this.

Underwhelming 😟😟😟

Dreadful tuneless rubbish.

Poor children being imbued with hatred at such an early age - wonder if the NSPCC are aware?

JenniferEccles Sat 12-Nov-22 00:47:51

I thought it was dreadful, but then I have never been a fan of this family’s attention seeking videos.

I'm concerned about this too.

I think they are so fortunate to having loving talented parents (and lovely grandparents, if you follow their whole story) with such talents.

You cant get teenagers boys to publicly join in and sing if they don't want to. There is no evidence whatsoever of duress.

They don't preach hatred.

If you look at their body of work much is tender or just sheer fun. they saw us through Covid.

If you dont like that particular political POV then that is a different matter

-the values in their songs are shared by a great many people who have substantial dislike of the current government.

I think their family values and love shine out. Just look through a few songs and read the comments underneath, especially the early Covid ones. they brought comfort and connection to so many.

They don't preach hatred.

What? Like youngish kids singing an anagram of "Fuck you"?

To give posters a broader idea of the Marsh Family, try this gentle and respectful one on the Queen

Or this really funny one on the waste problems in the south of England:

Joseanne can that really shock you in the world we live in? My younger grandchildren know the word - they know its not to generally use, but a parody of it for teenagers? hardly "hatred".

Wyllow3 Sat 12-Nov-22 09:01:24

This is the first one they ever made, at the beginning of lockdown - do you really think the children are in a "disturbing" environment?

Are you their PR rep? 😄 You seem very over invested in them.

I find them a bit cringe tbh.

merlotgran Sat 12-Nov-22 09:12:39

They didn’t ‘see me through Covid.’ They were a light hearted distraction like many other YouTube contributions.

There’s nothing light hearted about some of their more recent offerings and they’re churning them out with almost indecent haste.

maddyone Sat 12-Nov-22 10:10:52

Can’t stand this family, I wish they’d stop craving attention. I’ve seen them before, simply don’t like them.

Calendargirl Sat 12-Nov-22 10:14:51

I watched the first Marsh family video, the ‘One Day More’ lockdown one, and thought it was brilliant.

I haven’t viewed any more until this thread alerted me to the latest one.

As others have said, found it dreadful. Awful tune and words, but what got me was how the delightful ‘amateur’ feel of the original was totally gone, even down to the ‘Poppy’ theme of the background curtains, very contrived.

They came across as very ‘up’ themselves, especially the parents.

Never watch I’m A Celebrity, so the Matt Hancock stuff passes me by.

Chestnut Sat 12-Nov-22 10:27:11

Well obviously they are the Marmite Family, you love them or hate them. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Aldom Sat 12-Nov-22 10:28:55

I was sickened by the words sung by the young boy.... 'I guess the anus you're licking'. What decent, responsible, caring parents would want their child to sing something so gross? Not good at all.

Smileless2012 Sat 12-Nov-22 10:39:27

Looks as if this one backfired on them.

dogsmother Sat 12-Nov-22 10:39:55

Made me laugh.

Well I took an instant dislike to them when I first heard them, and now I know why. Not nice people in my book if they encourage their children to sing like that.
