Thank you Doodledog for the explanation. I think it’s disgraceful. Trying prevent women from wearing particular colours, in the UK! It’s almost unbelievable.

It makes me want to go out and buy a scarf in those colours. They fought and died so I could have a vote.

Thank you Rosie. You are right, but you won't be listened to. It's fine for VS to be downright rude, but then to claim the moral high ground when it suits her.

I am sick to death of having my words twisted and can't believe that it is always a case of misunderstanding, knee-jerk reactions or just people being a bit dim. It has to be deliberate at least sometimes.

I have no idea what 'jokes' I am being accused of making, or of what the 1950s (which I don't remember either) have to do with anything.

I see ho harm in the suffragette colours, whether worn as a tartan or as a signifier of female solidarity, any more than I can see any harm in a rainbow lanyard. If someone wore a swastika armband, or a jumper with a Russian flag knitted into it, I could understand they're being evicted as those things would clearly be political symbols. Female solidarity and a support for gay rights, however, have surely moved beyond that and into the mainstream?
