Who do we hate this week?

I saw this on twitter and it so resonates with me.

“Can someone tell me who we are supposed to be hating this week please?

Is it the nurses, railway workers, teachers, or immigrants, and of course we hate the EU all the time.

It is so difficult to keep up”

I seem to remember in the book 1984 people switched on the radio for the "Morning Hate" and were given their instructions.

People who think "woke" is an insult?

Mollygo Thu 01-Dec-22 08:54:43

People who use being “woke” as an excuse to damage children.

So many subtexts on this thread 🤣

Judging by some responses on another thread we hate tactless old ladies who get it wrong in a woke world. We're allowed to hate them of course because they're white.

Best just to leave them to it.

But then this very loud and shouty minority can tell themselves they are a majority. They are not. Most people couldn't give a damn who they chose to hate today but it can influence our lives.

That's exactly how we got into the mess we are now. Haters leading those who love to hate. Extremists are small in number but hate gives them far too much influence.

Yes.

I have posted on another thread.

Woke means empathy and emotional intelligence.

Very odd to use it as an insult.

What do you mean?

What do you mean?
Despite your post about the meaning that “Woke means empathy and emotional intelligence”,
“woke” is also used to describe those who advocate or are supportive of early surgical or chemical treatment of children who wish they were the opposite sex.
Not being “woke” is used as an insult for those who disagree.

You have to check with the Daily Express or the Daily Wail.

I'm not really a hater but I am very, very, very unhappy with the father of our next door neighbours who has blown most of the leaves from their front garden into ours just after our gardener had cleared it.

Hate is such a strong word isn’t it? There are things and people I dislike, some of them quite intensely. I’m not sure if I hate someone, (I think you have to know someone personally to reach that conclusion, and the people I have met so far, I do not hate, though some I do dislike, some intensely), though the actions of some people I do hate (eg the actions of some political leaders which are resulting in misery, loss of rights and loss of loved ones for millions).

NanKate Sat 10-Dec-22 21:56:39

PUTIN I’ve hated him since February.

Oreo Sat 10-Dec-22 22:37:13

I’ve hated him for years NanKate

Now I hate the unidentified man wearing a beanie hat who pushed in front of me in Sainsburys and took the last box of free range eggs off the shelf just as my hand was reaching up for them.angry
