Astonishing that he has announced this.
He has now put his wife, children and himself at serious risk not to mention all the other implications.

He is a silly immature and dangerous man.

Exactly, GSM. It's what they are trained to do - and the British Army is one of the best trained in the world. But you only have to look at the reaction from military personnel - some very high ranking - about his comments, to see what a reckless and foolish thing it was.

Yes GSM it is and yes I agree with that. He clearly is a fool.

Being thought of as an "enemy target" by my own son is the reason why I stepped back and stopped enabling him to be cruel. Maybe Charles needs to do the same.

Pen Farthing was mentioned on a thread somewhere - there are so many I can't keep track. Pen, who stays in Afghanistan trying to help animals, has tweeted that Harry has put him and any other UK nationals there in mortal danger. He said Harry obviously had no thought for them when speaking out. Selfish man.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 17:22:02

Yup.

Kate1949 Sat 07-Jan-23 17:28:00

Pen is now leaving Afghanistan. How sad.

merlotgran Sat 07-Jan-23 17:28:32

I think he may have left again.

Kate1949 Sat 07-Jan-23 17:32:06

Yes he's left.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 17:33:15

So the animals are further ‘victims’ of H’s stupidity. Well done, you selfish b*stard.

merlotgran Sat 07-Jan-23 18:06:48

What about the safety of the staff still there? 😪

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 18:17:32

I believe they are mostly Afghans.

Harry has, by his thoughtless boasting, put many at risk (including his own children) and lost the respect he once enjoyed.

So many experienced military personnel are appalled by this needless disclosure. Surely his ghost writer, editor, publishers or their legal advisors should have flagged this up as utterly foolhardy?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 18:31:04

They were only thinking of the $$$$ and the publisher’s legal advisers would only have a duty to their client to ensure that defamation laws weren’t breached. It’s clear that if H took any advice, he didn’t follow it in his determination to get ‘his truth’ across and, evidently, cause damage to his brother’s reputation (where I suspect he has failed).

You'd think so, varian but they must have had $$$ in front of their eyes.
I am surprised at any legal advisers he may have had, though.

Selfish, selfish man. I hope he feels ashamed of himself that he has caused this to happen. I doubt it,though.

merlotgran Sat 07-Jan-23 22:36:27

High profile people like the Obamas must be thanking their lucky stars they had the good sense to distance themselves before all this.

Deedaa Sat 07-Jan-23 22:43:34

Hearing about Pen Farthing has made me worry about the Kabul Small Animal Rescue group which I have been donating to for ages. Their staff are mainly Afghans and they have been managing to keep a fairly good relationship with the Taliban so they can carry on with their work. I hope Harry hasn't messed things up for them.

maddyone Sat 07-Jan-23 22:55:06

To speak about his ‘kills’ was a foolish and disrespectful thing to do. How selfish to put himself, his family, and other soldiers and indeed civilians in danger. Actually, foolish doesn’t cut it. I’m shocked that anyone could stoop to this level.

OnwardandUpward Sun 08-Jan-23 00:52:58

True, foolish doesn't cut it but I don't know of a more specific word that covers it.

Wonder what's changed since the Daily Mail et al thought that talking about killing the enemy was a good thing?

Washerwoman Tue 10-Jan-23 13:03:14

I keep thinking for the Invictus games this surely increases security risks. So military personnel who have already suffered life changing injuries became a heightened terrorist risk because Harry has to have his publicity. Can't help thinking he's done it to say look what a hero I am.And force the tax payer to fund his security although he's said he doubts he will ever live here again. So what about all the others living on disabilty benefits and barely inadequate pensions?Of all the things he's said this one annoys me the most.

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 13:11:17

Washerwoman I’ve heard that Invictus will be keeping a distance from Harry.
So he’s alienated his family; the forces; and now his own charity

Pammie1 Tue 10-Jan-23 13:13:22

FannyCornforth

I am very ignorant about such matters, but I thought that this was exactly how soldiers were encouraged to think.

I think the difference is that they are encouraged to think it, but not put the numbers out there. He’s been widely criticised by members of the armed forces for doing so. He’s also endangered himself and his family, and if he was even considered for an invitation to the coronation, I don’t see how that would now be possible given the security risk.

You can only conclude that foolhardiness doesn’t cut through the dollar signs.

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 13:19:59

Pammie yes, thank you.
I think I understand a bit more now.
I commented when his ‘confession’ was first leaked

OnwardandUpward Tue 10-Jan-23 13:22:38

Yes, he has endangered his kids. I don't know how he will have managed to evacuate his home safely with his kids and dogs and adequate security during the Montecito floods. He may have had to hunker down in a safe room with them.

I don't know if he will have planned for this type of natural disaster, but it may have been impossible for them to stay there at all.
