It is surely extremely unlikely that she is still alive. Her problems would be revealed in full in an inquest, whether the family or the public like it or not.

I keep thinking that too GSM and wondering why they haven't found her. It must be awful for her family and friends not knowing.

There is something deeply unsettling about this whole situation.

Social media can be a source for good but in this case seems to have unleashed armchair detectives, often demanding information and criticising every move the police make.
fancy that - are you suggesting the police haven’t followed their protocols in this case. They will have more information they haven’t shared

So sorry about that Joseanne. What a nightmare for you. I doubt your concerns were spurious , but I have read so many comments to the effect that “we must find out everything for the sake of those poor children” followed by their own suggestions of what might have happened.
IMO the latest information sharing was unnecessary.

At least it makes more sense to those of us that own dogs as to how she might have just left her dog; the dog being the most confusing part of it all. I think that, if the police had said at the beginning that she was regarded as being vulnerable there wouldn’t have been the pressure on them to defend themselves and divulge such personal information.And, in light of those disclosures, I’m confused as to why her husband took part in that tv programme last week. In future there will be a lot of criticism of the police by families whose loved ones go missing but don’t get the coverage that this case has.

I don’t know why the vulnerabilities that have been claimed Nicola has change the protocol for the search for her. She’s missing and she needs to be found.

This whole media circus upsets me so much to the extent I now swerve reading any articles about the search in my newspapers. Too much prurient speculation. Goodness only knows why the Police made the statement they did. Did we really need to know that the Police has been to their home the week before she disappeared? I don’t see how that fact helps with the search one iota.

Her poor little girls. Half term week nearly over and no mummy with them. Heartbreaking beyond belief.

It’s 3 weeks tomorrow. I hope Nicola is found very soon. Safe if possible that would be wonderful. We can but hope.

The Inquest is the appropriate venue for this information. In my view it should not be in the public domain whilst she is still a missing person.

It now feels as if the police were between a rock and a hard place. Revealing Nicola's alcohol related issues have added to the family's distress but could have prevented some of the wild speculation. It would also have explained why they were certain no third party was involved.

The Dan Walker interview unintentionally muddied the waters and the head of the private diving team probably now feels that he needs to protect his reputation in terms of expertise.

The truth will out!

The police have been forced to defend themselves in the face of so much criticism, and yes, the diver is trying to protect his reputation - though what difference the alcohol problem could have made to his search I have no idea. Has he explained that?

It is a sad fact that although some peoples lives can seem perfect and carefree, they can be going through a living hell inside.

So true Kate1949. I think there’s a lot of pressure today for young people to portray a picture of an idyllic life on social media. But, as we know, real life is not all shiny and beautifully manicured. It appears that this poor young woman may have been going through a very tough time whilst, on the surface, living a perfect life. Perhaps the ‘social media ideal’ makes it harder for people to admit they’re struggling. It’s very sad - I feel for her and her family.

The family have just given a statement about the intrusion and public focus.
Some people have been trying to sell stories to the press about Nicola.

He must be feeling upset too that he and his team put in some much effort into trying to find Nicola but their strategy would have changed had they been given more details.

Hence when I found it I said nothing.
