Sometimes I'm really relieved that my kids and grandchildren are adults.🙄

Who thought this was a good idea?

As I said, I don't think discussions need to get personal

But it doesn't bother me, I just make tea and have a giggle

I'm not in charge of safeguarding cabaret, it's about as far away from my field as possible to get

But I love how much everyone knows about me, I couldn't tell you very much about yourselves at all, if anything

We only know what you have told us in your numerous posts VioletSky

Could I point out that you’re all responding under your moral code which, like mine, is considered a bit old hat these days. Whilst watching someone swing about in some harness isn’t my idea of entertainment, there were reasons why those mums didn’t get up and walk out - and maybe that’s a more open acceptance of such things.
I wonder what a Mumsnet might have to say about it.

Posters comment on something mentioned in the DM or elsewhere and non-judgemental people criticise them.
And so it goes.

ExperiencedNotOld Thu 02-Mar-23 20:23:42

Violet sky - exactly. On another thread the same few Brexit-haters are once again trotting out the same old abuses, shutting down any sensible dialogue. They seem to be on here all day every day, and that’s sad.
I’ll call it out and always welcome others that will.

Not that I love Brexit lol

But still think personal stuff gets us nowhere extremely quickly

JaneJudge Thu 02-Mar-23 21:04:18

So no one is really bothered about alcohol consumption and babies plus entertainment and a rave 😂 wtf you lot
Workhouses will be back soon

Do you know VS, I’ve never noticed that you don’t think you should post personal stuff?
In fact I thought you were one of the most prolific posters of personal stuff.
But if you say you don’t . . .

Zoejory Thu 02-Mar-23 21:05:53

Don't you think you're being somewhat personal when you mention having cups of tea and enjoying the drama', VS, when people are expressing their opinions?

Sneering isn't great

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Mar-23 21:22:07

This thread is not about VioketSky

I am not a prude, just do not think this form of entertainment is appropriate for babies/toddlers.

VioletSky Thu 02-Mar-23 21:24:56

Lol

Sorry you'd rather I cried into my tea?

What's more harmful to children? A drag act or a terrible example of how to behave?

Also there are other people to disagree with available if I'm not reacting as expected

You don't know anything about my moral code but it would certainly exclude taking my infant to a show which includes that type of entertainment which is aimed at adults.

There is much research which shows that brain development and connections formed from their experiences and environment is faster in the first years of life than any other.

MerylStreep Thu 02-Mar-23 21:25:54

but I love how much people know about me
Hilarious 😂
You’ve told us over and over about your teaching assistant job.
All about growing up with your siblings.
And, I feel as if I’m almost on first name terms with your mother. I’ve heard so much about her.

If you don't know anything abut me, that's perhaps because you haven't read my posts 😥

Why is it a choice of one or another?

It's not a case of either/or. Neither is acceptable.

That's because some of us are kind and sympathetic and may have tried to help, as Gransnetters do when someone has a problem.

But heigh ho, if it's all a big joke then we must learn a lesson.

VioletSky Thu 02-Mar-23 21:37:42

Sure

Your opinion and how you feel is valid

I'm just not that bothered Callistemon but it's no biggie, I'm not running cabaret acts or advertising them or campaigning for more cabaret for babies

I'm just saying

Let the parents choose, if all the babies spontaneously start singing show tunes while swinging off the light fittings I'll change my mind

Urmstongran Thu 02-Mar-23 22:13:56

Crikey - I’ve just seen a few seconds of a video from the show time (in more ways than one!). Whilst there is nothing illegal taking place and no laws subject to legislation are being broken. I do, however, have my own moral values which are definitely breached by this kind of display.

What happened to the mothers & toddler groups of olden days?

On what level do men - dressed up in leather thongs and feathers, preening in front of mums and tots, opening their legs wide whilst upside down on a pole, not question their motives for doing this kind of display? Kinky doesn’t even cover it. They must get a thrill out of their erotic performances. Leather bondage straps crossed over their torsos. They are pushing some boundaries here. Of decency at the very least.

Callistemon21 Thu 02-Mar-23 22:21:03

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!

One we sang and did the actions to when I took my little DGC to music groups:

Wind the bobbin up,
Wind the bobbin up,
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap.
Wind it back again,
Wind it back again,
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap,
Point to the ceiling - look at that funny man!
Point to the floor,
Point to the window,
Point to the door,
Clap your hands together, 1, 2, 3,
Put your hands upon your knee.

Or, as DC used to sing 'Wind the parents up'
