New immigration bill - how on earth will it work?

So the latest wheeze from Sunak is to export every single asylum seeker who arrives on our shores, who have not gone through the proper channels or “safe route”

So,

Can anyone explain what safe routes are available.

Can anyone explain the countries willing to accept these exports?

Rwanda has agreed some sort of mutual export agreement - so they will take a few hundred in exchange for us taking theirs. So I’m unclear how that will reduce the pressure - if it ever gets off the ground.

Can anyone explain where all these people are going to be held whilst waiting export, as the law is to apply retrospectively.

Can anyone explain how the Tory government is NOT breaking international law?

I suspect that Braverman will be unemployable as a lawyer should she ever leave parliament, I’ve seen so many similar opinions

@crimlawuk

Braverman’s blatant lies about the legal position on the asylum bill, including that her “army of lawyers” say it “might be legal”, are so serious and so extreme that she should be disbarred.

She is welcome to sue me for libel and I will happily see her in court.

It's far too easy to miss social cues online. Don't worry about it.

Meryl Streep, why post something contentious without evidence.?
Do you know what nationality these children are ? If so, how do you know ?. In fact, are they children at all or adults who are slight of build.
~Isn't it called clutching at straws ?

Perhaps you could contact the Guardian and ask them for proof/evidence.

Why am I ( stupidly) asked for proof and evidence on what I post but an article in a national newspaper is believed without one name being printed.

So, they're 'detained' in France. Then what?

I suspect what will happen is that the traffickers will be one step ahead of the game.

People wanting to claim asylum will be offered "safe houses" (at a price), where they can stay until a passage is available for them. Efforts will be made to keep them out of the detention centres.

Wavewavemark there are still boat people who are now housed in PNG. Some have been sent to the US but they were the long term stays from Manus Island.

Could it be that The Guardian’s a sort of middle class bible?😄

I think the word could could be debatable 😉

Well, to some it’s Gospel 😄

Bit of a bromance going on between Sunak and Macron in Paris it seems 😊 I think Macron likes him because he's finally met someone smaller than him. It's not just the UK that wants to put a stop to illegal migration the whole of Europe has had enough.

To MANY on this forum it is gospel, and they do not do any other analysis or even open there eyes to see what is actually happening

On the odd occasion I've clicked on to The Guardian Newspaper they are always asking for money to support them. I don't think they have much of a following.

The Guardian has the biggest online readership of the "broadsheet" newspapers.

We pay for a Telegraph subscription.

Only because it’s the only one without a paywall

growstuff Sat 11-Mar-23 08:05:49

Yes Katie59 that's the model it's chosen and why it always looks as though it's begging for money.

It's a terribly old fashioned concept, isn't it? Paying to read a newspaper...

Maudi Sat 11-Mar-23 08:14:04

Perhaps you should it might open your eyes to the real world 😉

Which world is that, Maudi?

The one with unicorns and sunny uplands?

I suppose The Guardian is wary about making their newspaper subscription only because who in their right or should that be left mind would pay for it. Gary would I suppose, although I suspect he has it delivered 😊

I often buy newspapers when I'm traveling I actually like to read the paper version.

I suspect you aren’t in the target demographic Maudi.

growstuff Sat 11-Mar-23 08:33:18

Obviously somebody does pay for the Guardian (via donations) or it wouldn't survive.

growstuff Sat 11-Mar-23 08:36:34

I confess that I do sometimes read the Times and the Telegraph online (as well as other media) because my OH pays for them. He also donates about the same to the Guardian as he pays for the Times.

I regularly read US, French and German newspapers online. I wonder what that makes me. hmm
