Who is stopping the immigrants from being employed ?That is the government ,surely.
It is quite easy to see from your post just how well the policy of splitting the nation, via the far right press is working.

Did he just compare the language used by government to 1930s Germany? Or did he actually reference Nazi Germany?

MayBee Lineker knows as well as I do that the BBC won’t sack him, he’s their highest paid commentator. Watch this space, it won’t happen. He’ll get a little reprimand and then it’ll be business as usual. Meanwhile he’s more than a million pounds better off curtesy of Qatar.

A reference to the "English Culture" supposedly being eroded by "immigrants", according to right-wing types on social media.
You can substitute male-voice choirs and eisteddfodau if you like.

ExperiencedNot Old. I am rather confused by your post . What do you mean by "the ordinary person ,who life will be blighted by the influx of people "?
In what way would their life be blighted ?Sorry I am rather confused.
People living alongside hotels full of people, unable to be employed. Having their daughters scared to walk the street in fear of harassment by men that don’t yet understand the ‘rules’ in this country. Not being able to access health care at all due to volume. Have to pay more tax to deal with the totality of the problem. Have Albanian drug gangs blighting their neighbourhood, seeking drugs to children (and yes, this is proven very locally to me). It’s all far from sunshine and roses - can that not be seen and understood?

^Gary Lineker’s morals are ruled by ££££££^
I'd be very interested to know what ££££££ are ruling his stance on the language of the UK government, GG13. Especially as he could well be putting his extremely well paid BBC job at risk by voicing it on twitter.
Precisely.
I know GrannyGravy, I was being a bit naughty.

Have some people been banned from riding on buses then?
Nobody, just hyperbole.

No way will the BBC sack Lineker. He’s got too many fans.

Do you not consider how easy it is for the ‘high profile people’ to tweet or make opinion from the comfort of their gated mansion? It’s not their opinion that should matter, it should be that of the ordinary person, who life will be blighted by the influx of people, unable to afford an accountant to avoid any increase in tax necessary to deal with the problem.
There seems to be certain amount of diversion going on here. We can all wonder why GL didn't speak up about the situation in Qatar, but that doesn't detract from what we may think about his tweet about immigrants. I can see that he could have spoken out about Qatar, but I still admire him for speaking out about the treatment of refugees and the parallels with 1930s Germany.
I started reading Victor Klemperer's wartime diaries, although I gave up because it got too depressing. So many similarities between 30s Germany and our lives now. Subtle little law changes made purely for the safety of the general public. Jews banned from riding on buses because their bad behaviour was disturbing other people, done so gradually you'd hardly notice and all because the government cares about you. We are getting much closer to that point than we realise.

He didn't make a statement, he asked a question. And Gary is working class- I used to buy my fruit and veg from his stall at the market, sometimes his dad, sometimes himself.
Ooooo where was this FP? He's a distant relative of mine. Don't know how. Mum used to refer to him as 'Cousin Gary' ironically.
Leicester Market- his dad had a fruit and veg stall, and as a teenager he used to help out regularly.

I have far more respect for Yvette Copper and her husband Ed Balls than I ever have had, or will have, for Gary Lineker. They are people of integrity. Lineker wouldn’t know what integrity is if it hit him between the eyes. Ask a gay man, a woman, or a Qatari whose human rights have been abused if Lineker has integrity. I suspect we all know what the answer would be. Integrity and compassion is forgotten in the face of a one million plus pay out from the Qataris just to talk about football.
100% agree maddyone

My daughter was a history teacher and for years she’s been saying that things the government have been doing for the past decade or so are similar to those of the Weimar Rebublic.
Using the Nazi playbook for British politics. No words. And this is seen as a way to sway the British public!

Here's a link too Susannah Reid's interview with S Braverman this morning

I wonder why we don't use the money that is being spent on potentially sending asylum seekers off to Rwanda, on a new Security Force that concentrates entirely on finding and prosecuting the traffickers.. in concert with other countries.. These poor AS's are paying huge amounts to those profiteers..
I've been following a friend who is anti-vaccine; covid doesn't exist or they are faking the death figures; climate change sceptical; anti 15 minute cities; sceptical about the war in Ukraine; anti immigrant; believes there is a conspiracy for world domination, and that all these happenings have been deliberately caused by whoever is in league to rule the world. On of the things repeatedly stated is that we only have the rise and history of the Nazis to convince me and others (as we are 'sheeples') that this is happening now!
I didn't want to exist in an 'echo chamber', so followed her and her friends' postings and links. '
I think Gary Lineker's comparison of what is happening now is much more accurate and frightening, and I think he expressed it carefully not to offend unnecessarily.
Oh and of course we are losing freedom of speech according to the friend and her group!

Yvette Cooper - disagrees with Lineker.
I disagree with Cooper.I'm surprised
Gary Linkeker has taken refugees into his home, how many politicians have done the same?
Yvette Cooper along with her husband Ed Balls have a Ukrainian family living with them (Mother, son and daughter)
We may disagree with Linekers actions over Qatar but we can thoroughly approve with his comments about the governments actions relating to migrants.
