Is this the same Mr Farage who has tried and failed seven times to get himself elected as an MP?
Is this the same Mr Farage who recently got up many noses in Scotland, not all of them independence fans, when he described the Scottish First Minister as "the most unpleasant, sour-faced, humourless leader" he had ever met? Whatever you think of Nicola's politics, that's not the Nicola that I and others who have encountered her know.
I do remember from the 2015 general election campaign, which was just before I moved to Scotland and before the SNP landslide actually happened, a TV debate involving the minor parties – NS for the SNP, Leanne Wood for Plaid Cymru, Natalie Bennett for the Greens and Nigel Farage for what was then Ukip. At the end the three women had a group hug and Farage stood looking lost to one side, whereupon Nicola strode over to Nigel, shook his hand and said something encouraging with a smile (I suspect that Nigel isn't a huggy person). That was the first time I'd seen Nicola in action and I was impressed, but in fact knowing what I know now (declaration of interest: I work for Holyrood) it's entirely in character. As it's entirely in character for Nigel Farage to be duplicitous and utterly without grace or charm.
