Wouldn't mind betting it's another publicity stunt to assist with his ongoing court cases

So there's no hatred on here.
But one poor bloke, who married a woman so many on GN hate, was driving round New York trying not to panic as the car he was in was pursued by Papparazi, all trying to get a shot of them. They had to eventually leave the safety of their secure vehicle and take a taxi through New York, and even the taxi driver says there were still people taking flash photographs. The bloke's mother died in similar circumstances.
But hey they left the UK. They deserve all they get.
Sympathy apparently stops at the Atlantic Ocean.

Let’s unpick this

1) paps were following (note the less emotive term than “pursuing”) a car and trying to take photographs. That’s what photographers do, especially of so-called “celebrities”
One was on a bicycle 🤣

2) they left the safety of their secure vehicle and took a taxi
Well, really. How misguided was that.
Taxi drivers are presumably good drivers but unlike the Sussexes own security detail unlikely to be security checked or necessarily experienced in avoiding /escape tactics as any security team driver should be.
Cf the driver in Paris - what could possibly go wrong?

3) the taxi driver said the photographers were still taking flash photographs -yes, it was at night

4) “the blokes mother died under similar circumstances “
Not quite, that was a high speed car chase in a notoriously dangerous tunnel, the driver had been drinking, the passengers were not wearing seat belts. Oh that last bit is the same.

Get real.
Just for once turn off your own prejudices and stop assuming anybody who is sceptical of this non-story necessarily “hates” anybody.

Such a pity it’s being reported. Particularly as they don’t court publicly.
Press ought to ignore them as that’s their preference. (Odd lifestyle)

Yes the press ought to ignore them.

Then you could all gossip about where they have gone and what are they trying to hide.

Win win.

Yes, I know.
I thought that there might be some profound, philosophical insight into the group psyche of Gransnet forthcoming smile

For those of you who are on Twitter.

From what I've read, the only people calling it a high speed car chase are the media. Would car pursuit work better for you? Hounding? Reports that the couple were being goaded by photographers when leaving the event to provoke a great "Angry Harry" shot?

The couple were, reportedly, staying with friends and didn't want the address known to paps.
They didn't want to be followed.
They didn't want to have their photographs taken in the car.

So sad his life has taken this direction.

Are the haters on here going to mock when a member of their family gets hurt?

Probably, if the bile directed at them is anything to go by on here.

What about if someone dies? I'm sure that will also be grist to the mill.

I'm absolutely disgusted by some of you.

GagaJo you belong to this same forum so part and parcel of the same group and on all threads!

The hatred on here is disgusting. You should all be ashamed.

Not hatred just sheer exasperation at the behaviour of this money- and attention-seeking pair.
If this latest episode is to copy what happened to Diana then it makes me wonder just how much lower they’ll go to get headlines.
Clearly very few people are convinced by this latest attempt to grab attention and get footage for the next Netflix saga and Books 2, 3 and 4

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 13:34:26

They didn’t want , wonder if William wanted the world to know he had been circumcised.

Did you hear the way the paps were talking to Meghan as she stepped out of the hotel?

Did you hear the interview of the pap who said that his photo may be the last one of Harry alive so he had to take it?

It is disgusting.

sandelf Fri 19-May-23 13:36:48

And it is because Charles and William et al KNOW they lie, that they have not contacted them or made any comment.

Nannapat1 Fri 19-May-23 13:40:09

The 'near catastrophic' event was breaking news for 5 minutes, which details were reported by a spokesperson fir H & M. Today (19 May) a rather less dramatic version was given by the NY police.

volver3 Fri 19-May-23 13:44:49

If this latest episode is to copy what happened to Diana then it makes me wonder just how much lower they’ll go to get headlines.
And if its not? If this, and every other thing you think is true, is just so much fabrication? How does that make you feel? Do you feel taken advantage of, used, misled? Because you should.

Clearly very few people are convinced by this latest attempt to grab attention
There are actual pictures of the paps trailing them. There are pictures of people trying to take their picture when they are in a private car. It's not AI, or Photoshop. It actually happened. Despite what you think.

LondonMzFitz Fri 19-May-23 13:48:25

I don't buy into the "which camp are you in" thing. If you support H&M you therefore have to hate W&K. If you are fans of W&K you have to ridicule H&M. It's nobodies business if KC or William have contacted Harry. It'll be in the next book (non sarcasm).

(It's the bloody press, the flaming media, whipping up click baits to distract from the bigger picture. Strikes, the Just Stop Oil, Gas prices, war in Ukraine - the people that own the Big Media know that Politicians will see them right - wine and dine, OBE's, CBE's, Lord & Lady whatever - if they can just get the public eye off what is really going on out there).

fancythat Fri 19-May-23 13:50:53

Have Meghan and Harry actually said anything themselves?
No one need answer if they dont want to.
I cant be bothered to find out myself.

If they havent said anything, then perhaps nothing to see. At all.

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 13:53:21

Can it not be assumed their official spokesperson speaks for them

Princess Mako of Japan gave up her royal status when she married a commoner and went to live in the USA. As far as I know she and her husband do not seek publicity and are not hounded by the paparazzi. They just get on with their lives quietly, still wealthy and privileged but not in the spotlight. If H&M wanted to lead quiet lives presumably they could do the same.

You missed out they stopped at a police station and were advised to use a taxi! Just a small point. The police held the photographers at bay with two cars with sirens and lights flashing.
But of course you know they should have stayed wit their car

Ooh the Japanese royal family where women can't inherit the crown and they HAVE to renounce their title if (as Mako did) they marry a commoner.
Let's see under those rules. Anne, Beatrice ,and Eugenie aren't princesses any more. Nor was Margaret.
Harry though would still be a Prince, because they can and have married commoners.

We didn't get all this hooha when Princess Anne was held at gun point.
It was 1974.

You need to move on, honestly.

So what if it was 1974? It’s a valid point.

Meghan is a gift to republicans - a star player. No matter what she and Harry say or do they will be defended at all costs by the same people who are happy to pour vitriolic scorn on the likes of Boris and Carrie Johnson et al.

I really don’t believe that intelligent people can be that gullible.
