Quite! Guess what, according to today’s i newspaper, Harry will use it to bolster his legal battle with the Home Office over security. Well, what a surprise.

Said no one ever!! smile

GagaJo

Are the haters on here going to mock when a member of their family gets hurt?

Probably, if the bile directed at them is anything to go by on here.

What about if someone dies? I'm sure that will also be grist to the mill.

I'm absolutely disgusted by some of you.

They really do need to stop moaning all the time. If they shut up and lived a quiet life then the paparazzi wouldn’t be interested in them. What a boring couple they are 😫

This is really an example of how the Chinese whisper accounts of news develop.
It didn't happen because the cab driver said it didn't. (he was involved near the end)
It couldn't have happened because it was high speed (the NY mayor was first to mention the words high speed).
It didn't happen because Whoopi Goldberg said it didn't.
Honestly it just shows how people adjust the narrative to fit their perspective.

The hatred on here is disgusting. You should all be ashamed.

tickingbird Fri 19-May-23 12:15:34

Actually it didn’t happen because Harry and Meghan said it happened and they are proven liars. There’s already some backtracking going on with Omid whatsisname saying the person that broke the story was rather over emotional. Frankly, it’s embarrassing.

Louella12 Fri 19-May-23 12:18:12

We didn't get all this hooha when Princess Anne was held at gun point.

enabenn Fri 19-May-23 12:19:39

Don't believe that. There is footage of the 'chase's which they demanded to be sent to them, but were reminded that they are in USA and don't have to abide by kings rule.

enabenn Fri 19-May-23 12:21:38

Why are we wasting time posting this sort of thing on gransnet.

Criticism is not hared.
There is nothing to be ashamed of in questioning or casting a critical eye over a story in the media.
Just because you do not agree does not make the opinions of others either hatred or disgusting
So stop over reacting..

I’ve just read where it took place Manhattan area.
I’m sure lots of you here have been in a taxi in that area, you hardly move.

Too true. We actually got out of the taxi in Manhattan after barely moving in 10 minutes as it was quicker to walk.
Also, so terrifying that Meghan, Harry and Doria didn't bother with seatbelts. Diana would probably still be alive today if she had worn one. One person survived the Paris crash and he was wearing his seatbelt.

Gagajo I'm on here, and I see no reason why I should feel ashamed. This is a discussion forum; if 'celebrities' choose to release a statement to the media suggesting that they have had a terrifying and near catastrophic event - extremely emotive language - the details of which which appears to be questionable depending upon who is being interviewed, then it will be a point for discussion. My post was expressing surprise that a chase of such speed, involving alarming near collisions, could possibly take place in New York City at that busy time of the evening - most of the city traffic would moving at a moderate speed. What am I to be ashamed of?

Glorianny Fri 19-May-23 12:30:21

So there's no hatred on here.
But one poor bloke, who married a woman so many on GN hate, was driving round New York trying not to panic as the car he was in was pursued by Papparazi, all trying to get a shot of them. They had to eventually leave the safety of their secure vehicle and take a taxi through New York, and even the taxi driver says there were still people taking flash photographs. The bloke's mother died in similar circumstances.
But hey they left the UK. They deserve all they get.
Sympathy apparently stops at the Atlantic Ocean.

MrsNemo Fri 19-May-23 12:31:25

Sorrty - 'details of which appear to be' - usual naff typing.

MrsNemo Fri 19-May-23 12:31:57

Aggh! Another typo - I may give up my faltering career as a proof reader.

LovelyLady Fri 19-May-23 12:32:00

Such a pity it’s being reported. Particularly as they don’t court publicly.
Press ought to ignore them as that’s their preference. (Odd lifestyle)

There was no mention of speed until the NY mayor mentioned it. It was persistent and aggressive, not high speed

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 12:34:50

The Scobie chap had said the spokesperson was over emotional and criticised Charles and William for not contacting them .

Criticism is hatred ? Gosh the hatred of the royal family from some must cause security much concern

TerryM Fri 19-May-23 12:37:04

New York I would have thought would have town cars specific for celebrities? Very tinted windows and ability to leave from back doors to avoid paparazzi?
Having walked around Manhattan, there are certainly idiots that drive there , but the ability to be doing that for lengthy periods of time and not be picked up by CCTV and then the police is surprising.
I have no doubt they are being photographed as Meghan is very much searched for on the various search engines , be they for positive or negative type of reports

More attention seeking! Taxi driver says they were in the car 10 minutes….not 2 hours. Crying wolf doesn’t pay off!
Matilda shouted fire fire…..everyone replied little liar!

OMG why bother to comment if you can't be bothered to find out what happened. The taxi was the last resort. Their secure limo was followed before they ever got to the taxi.
I'm starting to think Trump was right in a way. It isn't "fake news" it is "whatever you want to believe news"
Facts just get in the way.

It was 1974.

You need to move on, honestly.

Anniebach Fri 19-May-23 12:59:49

Oh, they were followed, car chase was a lie ?

Taxi driver Sukhcharn Singh told the Washington Post that he drove with the trio and their security guard for about ten minutes. Singh said he picked the group up at around 11 p.m. outside the NYPD’s 19th Precinct on East 67th Street. He said he got the impression that they had already been chased by photographers, and they were followed by two vehicles as he was driving: a black Honda Accord and a gray Honda CR-V.

As comment above.

I'm not reading all 11 pages, I read the first, and the two last pages and it's made me so flipping cross! One poster called it hatred, I'm going to call it bloody nasty! These comments, honestly, make me fume.

One post on Twitter yesterday (I didn't note who from, a random journalist) said he'd asked one of the paps why take so many shots of H&M leaving the awards, the flashes from camera's, flash flash flash. The pap said (this is a quote from the random journalist) "this might be the last photo of him". Which the journalist drew to mean - if Harry were to die in a car crash from the award ceremony, that pap would be quids in for getting that last photo.

I find that revolting. And to go on to read the comments on here, it's disgusting.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-May-23 13:01:32

Chase implies speed. Rather unlikely to be driving at speed for the alleged two hours in that location.
