Reddit is absolutely awful generally. There is a hilarious MN group on it who were chucked off MN because they troll hunted. They fight all the time and keep getting banned.

VioletSky Sun 21-May-23 16:10:44

I stick to reading topics about my hobbies there

Never had any problems

They banned incel groups too for hate speech against women so can't be all that bad

I don't understand the MN trolls thing? Explain more

VioletSky Sun 21-May-23 16:15:58

Never mind I found it, it's not hilarious no wonder it's not allowed on mumsnet

I was enjoying reading the take on the 'Great Chase' across Manhattan by all the posters. I was about to comment about 3 pages back but it had started to descend into a 'he said, she said, they said, everyone said, nobody said' type slanging match among posters. Fun in itself to observe. I will post my comment on H&M re seatbelts.
I seem to recall two instances:
One, where H had a hissy fit at M for travelling with Archie in a moving vehicle without a seat belt on or the child restrained in a car seat;
Two, when he (I think) was about to drive off and Archie told him to belt up or whatever the US equivalent is. I seem to remember H taking this to mean A knew what had happened to his paternal grandmother and didn't want it to happen to Dad.
Perhaps your memories are sharper than mine.
I do enjoy reading the threads/posts on GN although I rarely post, mainly because someone else has got there first with an observation. Never because I feel insulted by a post challenging my view. But then I earned my spurs in very tough London schools.

It was women who were intelligent and capable and stood up for what was right in the world.
It still is, and they still do, protecting females and challenging misogyny wherever they find it.

Anniebach Sun 21-May-23 16:33:41

Devorgilla was the two seatbelt events in Harry’s book ?

VioletSky Sun 21-May-23 16:46:44

I think reddit would definitely ban any supremacist group thankfully

Devorgilla Sun 21-May-23 17:15:20

Anniebach, I haven't read 'Spare' so I don't know if he also mentions the events there. I googled Archie/seatbelts kind of query and a Youtube one came up re the hissy fit. The other I think was mentioned on TV at some stage. I think A was about 2years at the time. It's why I find them not belting up so strange. I'll try to find the Youtube one and post.

If you type in this it comes up.

Having looked at it again I am not sure it is 'real' but I'll let others decide for themselves. I feel it probably did happen and I vaguely remember comment ages ago but remembering stuff about M&H is not my priority.

As they had literally just got into the cab, we have no idea whether or not they put their seatbelts on - it was stationary at the time. Wondering why the paps who chased them won't release the photos they took - it would clear a few things up. God, this thread has deteriorated badly since I last posted 13 pages ago - meant to come back earlier but got sidetracked. Half of it is now taken up by personal insults and who said what to who, allegedly. Come on ladies, at our age we should be better than this.

Galaxy

You have gone way beyond acceptability there Callistemon, sultanas sad

😁😁😁

I've stopped buying bananas Galaxy, I really dislike ripe bananas, there are always a couple left and DH asks hopefully "Will you be making a banana cake (with sultanas of course!)"

Give me lemon drizzle any day! No sultanas 😀

I'm not sure that is real either. It says the car is moving but the trees behind are in focus. She also seems to be sitting in a very strange position for anyone in a moving car. Obviously posed I think.
The video did amuse me. Bloke with such an establishment voice!

Vanillasky Sun 21-May-23 19:37:52

M & H isn't my specialist subject either Devorgilla but you're right. The Archie seatbelt comment was name by Harry, not in Spare, but in one of the Netflix documentaries. I remember he said Archie told him to strap him in his chair on the way to nursery every day.
I have a very good memory as to who said what when!

Anniebach Sun 21-May-23 19:44:34

Thank you Devorgilla would a two year old say that , I doubt it sorry.

NotSpaghetti Mon 22-May-23 05:38:41

I think our 2 year old may well have done Anniebach.
But then we fitted seatbelts in a car (in the 90s) where the cost of all the various belts (6 of them) was more than the cost of the car they were fitted in! We were pretty invested in buckling-up!

Vanillasky Mon 22-May-23 07:11:02

I haven't got the will to check the footage, but in the night it came to me that it might have been Archie telling Harry to buckle himself up? Either way, Harry said his son knew what to tell him to do.
Archie could have been 3+ years because the Netflix docuseries was aired at the end of 2022.

I came back to look at this thread and once again a number of people have taken over the narrative with their personal insults. It’s incredibly frustrating for those of us just wanting to see what others think about the subject rather than about other people on the thread. It’s very annoying, coven or clique please stop it, it’s boring for the rest of us.

Well said!

Anniebach Mon 22-May-23 08:10:42

It can be expected on Harry and Megan threads, it usually causes the thread to be closed.

fancythat Mon 22-May-23 08:11:24

I agree.

But I do understand how it ends up happening.

fancythat Mon 22-May-23 08:12:10

I was writing it after the comments before Anniebach.

Spot on, Nanatoone. I popped back for a quick look, and yes, we do occasionally get some playground bullying here, but as regards some of the recent exchanges they certainly take the bourbon cream for sheer childishness. Grans? Really?

I hope that you aren’t including me here.
Can we please move on. Please 🙏

Anniebach Mon 22-May-23 09:21:57

As we moved on from discussing the opening post ?
