Ed Davey says they can. Keir Starmer isn’t sure. Can women have a penis?

... and now this thread will be closed down.

VioletSky
You make some provocative comments - maybe you don't realise they are provocative? But they get a response.

We take your observations at face-value - it's all we can do on a social media site.

You introduced the subject of dildos onto a thread titled "can a woman have a penis?" To some of us it read like a yes-they-can, so there, moment. When you must know that wasn't wasn't in the spirit of what the OP was asking, surely?

... and then ended the comment telling us it was none of our business anyway.

I don't know how you can't see that that is not a challenging comment to make. How did it help the discussion move forward - you talk about "solutions" that you believe we should all be thinking about, but then throw that into the mix.

We know some lesbians use dildos - we know some couples use various sex toys etc. And some don't. What was the purpose of the comment? And why are you upset that it's been questioned and challenged.

Why do these discussions always end with you feeling victimised? We're all being challenged on our views by those who disagree with them. I don't feel victimised when someone responds to one of my comments, disagreeing with it. And if someone misunderstands, or mis-represents what I've said, I challenge them and try a different way to emphasise what I was saying, to prove that they didn't 'get it'.

Oh come on! Anyone can read the misrepresentation that has been undertaken.
It is a common device used by at least one poster regularly.
Really blaming VS is beyond the pail. And threads are never shut down just for one comment being reported, only for consistent and irrelevant personal remarks.
It's pathetic to try and blame someone for reporting a post. I can see that the ground is getting difficult- What do you call a penis on a transman, if not a penis?
but pretending it's VS's fault if it is shut down is pretty low.
Especially as we have just discovered there are more women who are really men!

VioletSky Sun 28-May-23 17:43:53

The truth is I'm a threat because I'm not at either end of the spectrum in this debate and so I'm coming from a place of logic and reason

The fact that people have to deliberately twist my words and accuse me of things there is no evidence of to try and silence me says so much

Galaxy Sun 28-May-23 17:44:56

It's not in the slightest bit difficult, I would say something along the lines of some women have tissue removed from the arm to reassemble male genitalia. I would then point out that ed Davey was categorically not talking about transmen.

FannyCornforth Sun 28-May-23 17:51:52

VS you’re ‘a threat’?
To whom?

Mollygo Sun 28-May-23 17:55:58

VS you aren’t a threat to anyone. No idea why you should promote yourself as that.
No idea why anyone would want to claim that they are something so unpleasant, but you said it.

Some surgeons refer to it as a neopenis. Happy with that?

Mollygo Sun 28-May-23 18:05:30

^Really blaming VS is beyond the pail. 🪣

What do you call a penis on a transman, if not a penis?^

*I don’t call it anything, because no transman has ever asked me unless you’re claiming to be a transman now and you’re asking me.*=
Do transwomen go round asking people that?
Why would they?
Does anyone in your world walk round asking people “What would you call my genitalia?”
Certainly in my world they don’t, but then I live in a world of logic and reason where people don’t ask questions like that.

Well you are on this thread and I've been asking it for quite a while, so logically and reasonably you must be in the wrong world.
Logically and reasonably no transman would ask "What do you call my genitalia" They simply call it a penis. It's the rest of you that have the problem.

VioletSky Sun 28-May-23 18:15:44

Of it looks like a penis and quacks like a penis it's a penis

VioletSky Sun 28-May-23 18:17:18

Well I have no idea why people keep harassing me with untrue things about me then

But I've never been upset to know that someone I don't like doesn't like me anyway

On Wed 24-May @ 17.27.17 in response to post from Fleurpepper, you said:

Yes!

And always remember, when people don't like you, take joy in being as annoyingly yourself as possible

... come on, VS - you are playing games a bit, aren't you? I won't go so far as to suggest you're 'gaslighting' because that's terminology usually used about abusive situations - but you are being somewhat passive-aggressive. You're indulging in a bit of blame-shifting. You're playing with us a bit aren't you?!

One moment you're asking why we can't all just be nice to each other, telling us that you like kind people, whoever they are, then the next instance you're telling us (as if we didn't already know) that lesbians can have sex with someone sporting a dildo - for no apparent reason so one can only guess that it's been said to indicate that you want to prove that a woman-can-have-a-penis... otherwise what was its relevance to the OP's post? Then you chide us with, and it's none of your business. This is passive-aggressive. You're being 'jovial' with us but indirectly expressing hostility at the same time.

Aveline Sun 28-May-23 18:22:18

A fake penis is a fake penis. A fake vagina is a fake vagina. Why bother?

This is creepy

It's just a meme I read on Facebook that day

No not at all

I just want a discussion full of actual facts please

Instead I say we should be kind once and a year later it's still getting chucked at me

It's creepy

Baggs I'm really not sure. I think it means biological man. I wish someone with more knowledge than me could help you as I'm irritated that I don't know smile

If you 'Google' "Gender Identity Terminology" there's a lot of sites - some more easy to understand than others - that give all the information.

The abbreviations become familiar after a while, but are confusing when you don't know what they mean.

Ooh will we have experts to decide authenticity like on the Antiques Roadshow???
"So Professor can you tell us is this a real penis or a fake one?"

I’ve not looked back over this discussion. So far as I know, if gransnet delete your post, they don’t tell you. I’ve always found that odd because if you’ve breached guidelines, it may be useful to know. Anyway, as Violet says she’s reporting many posters - how do we know if gransnet share her distress

Iam64 Sun 28-May-23 19:04:29

I’ve looked back to p26, no deletions. Good because I’ve seen nothing that breaches guidelines

But last week you were questioning...

Why there is the constant need to shout about "facts"

I don't want to be accused of being "creepy" (whatever that means on here!), but as I've suggested that you are toying with us somewhat, I'm backing up my assertion by re-quoting your comment.

I think some of us are getting mixed messages from your comments VS.

Aveline Sun 28-May-23 19:08:59

I can hardly wait for that episode of Antiques Roadshow Gloryanny. Wonder how much they'll be worth?

VioletSky Sun 28-May-23 19:12:23

I've reported 2 comments saying that I said or implied something I did not

Something that goes against my character and my values and is abhorrent to me

You will know if I report, I usually say. I only don't say if I report something horrible happening to someone else

Story time

There are 2 forums on gransnet I just can't get on with people on even though I will always reciprocate respectful dialogue

On one of those forums I made friends with a lovely lady. One who was having relationship difficulties. We have each others emails and are still friends to this day.

When she joined the forum she was told all sorts of awful things about me by other members via PM that I'm a "troll" and just here to wind people up that I think bad things about all the other members etc. All completely untrue and unfair.

She saw through that and we have helped each other immeasurably over time and I couldn't be without her

I'm not everyone's cup of tea. I get that. I'm defensive, reactive and have the sense of humour of an 8 year old... I'm autistic and it shows.

But I'm just me. I'm not here to anything, I just want to be able to share my thoughts on things that interest me

That's the truth
