oh I wish I was there. Looks like a great crowd. The BBC will say there were a handful, of course.

“It might be my senior memory failing me but I don't recall any of the Leave campaigners in the run up to the referendum telling us that we wouldn't see any benefits for 50 years...”

That was Rees Mogg sometime after the referendum

It doesn't help your cause, GrannyRose that nearly two thirds of the country now think that Brexit was a mistake and, that, demographics being what they are, a goodly number of the majority who voted for Brexit are now dead.

Your narrative of 'It was Remainers who messed it up' is nonsense. May's government was completely stymied by the ERG faction in the tory party and since then we have had a totally Brexit supporting government. Who have made a complete pig's ear of everything they've done...

Whining that the EU wouldn't let the UK cherry pick the bits it would like to keep is ridiculous. They were never going to do that and it is extraordinary that anyone should think that they would.

I do my best to avoid it where possible.

Unfortunately for tech products it’s impossible to do so.

I don’t buy clothes from Asian sweat shops either.

This was reported in some depth in Germany. They say they would be happy for us to rejoin and would not make things too awkward.
I voted remain so that would be my choice but in reality it is unlikely, at least in the near future.

Well yes, good for you. So no bananas, oranges, tangerines, grapes, pineapples, strawberries and other berries or tomatoes, cucumbers, out of season, avocados, wine,, etc, etc, etc.

Fleurpepper are you seriously suggesting that Spain is the only exporter of that produce, you really are very funny.

No I am not saying this, I'd rather buy imported produce from Spain or other European countries, than Israel, for instance. And working conditions in Morroco and Northern African countries are NOT good either. Most people do not look at the provenance of food, but the price (not me, I am very careful with provenance).

Many Asian sweatshops are in the UK.

As a remainer I was shocked by the result, the reality has been somewhat worse than I was expecting. However there was no turning back and all we can do is make the best of it, I’m pleased that Starmer is talking about co-operation and no divergence.
We will see the reality of that in a year or two if he gets a working majority

hmmmmmmmmm yes, I wonder.

We were told we would stay in Single Market and Customs Union, no paperwork and checks for NI, that the NHS would flourish without all those nasty furiners, that husbandry would improve hugely and live exports stopped, that the environment and the waterways would all be pristinely clean, and on, and on, and on.

The most deceiving, racist and truly despicable video advert posted during the campaign was the one about the two possible outcome re an elderly lady with a cold (who goes to Casualty for a cold!!!) going to Casualty. And the Farage poster!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 24-Sept-23 19:38:00

Fleurpepper if everything is so bad in the U.K. I am surprised you cross La Manche

Aveline Sun 24-Sept-23 20:04:28

Oh God. She's off on her obsessive hobby horse again.

Callistemon21 Sun 24-Sept-23 20:06:36

Perhaps going to the march might have been more productive?

Oreo Sun 24-Sept-23 20:11:36

For some, the subject is a scab to be picked at.😖 Why is it rehashed over and over and what’s the point?
And if you feel so much about it then go on the march, not that it will any good.

Oreo Sun 24-Sept-23 20:13:19

Am putting my feet up now with some tv and a wine if anyone wants to join me? 😄

HousePlantQueen Sun 24-Sept-23 20:13:28

Sadly I was unable to be there today due to spending most of my time on crutches at the moment. Many friends and acquaintances did go. I will report on their experiences when I have heard from them.

I’d forgotten that advert! And yet, here we are, out of the EU and can’t even get an appointment with a GP! As for the Farage one: well, it was blatantly racist wasn't it. And yet brexit wasn’t based on racism and xenophobia was it confused?

.

There were since graduates walking round and questioning the older protestors. They were asking them what they missed about the EU. Most of them looked black but one last did say that the other countries were doing better than we were

Chap pointed out that this was not the case at all and Germany is in recession. French farmers, who according to posters here, are protesting and Italy has an horrendous problem with immigrants.

It's not great anywhere. Older people seem to be clinging in to the EU but younger generations just aren't interested

It's over. Why get in such a tizz? It's a bit worrying to read some of these posts. Irrational isn't the word!
