He has been suspended by GB News for comments made about a female reporter Ava Evans , " who would want to s**g that, the comments were made in reply to something she has said about male suicide. Why do these misogynistic men think that their penis is the thing that women crave? Grow up and get real , Sex is not the B all and end All of everything, and they way they wave it about who in their right mind would.

Laurence Fox was wrong, there is a backstory though as the lady’s Twitter feed shows.

He was so wrong, again. The debate/discussion was totally de-railed. But, could he have planned to use the phrase against her simply because she’s clearly no stranger to using it herself - as her Twittering shows? So he felt it’d be a clever way to undermine her? Failed spectacularly and it just looked like another sexist snipe.
His so-called explanation and apology was another fail. Whatever his current life problems, he now needs to have a long think well away from tv and newspapers and get some help with his anger.

I think you're right, Grandmafrench. He does seem to need help, as he's been circling the drain for a while now. Suspension/sacking is probably what he needs for now, and he'd be better closing his YouTube channel until he recovers, too.

Interesting how someone took offence when I repeated something as an example of something someone said to me - presumably they were thinking it was aimed at them or their opinions - but no-one sprang to my defence when It was said to me.

Mainly passive aggressive responses clear too see

There's no 'passive' in my responses to you, they are fairly aggressive.

But I have not name-called. It's something I earnestly try to avoid.

And... I do think you are attempting to invalidate opinion you don't agree with by telling us... the "they" you refer to... what we should be talking about, basically telling us we are 'sheep' "ignoring what really matters".

I don't agree with those who try to derail a discussion by suggesting that we should be debating on other matters. Other matters you could start a thread on yourself, no-one is stopping you from doing that.

It really isn't up to you to decide what you think we should be focusing on.

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:20:29

Ha Ha - you must be right then - thanks for proving my point again

Doodledog Sat 30-Sept-23 19:32:32

Why so aggressive? There doesn't seem to be much pragmatism in your posts. You start by sniping, then make accusations of bias, tell 'Some People' that they are out of touch, and are now playing the victim.

Are you new here? It usually takes a little while for people to tick off that lot grin.

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:34:15

My posts are not aggressive - just an opinion - read Dickens post - he admits his commemts are openly agressive to me - I do not see why you think I am agressive

I also totally agree with Dickens but tbh have absolutely no idea what "your point" is. Would you mind making it clear to me?

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:35:04

I simply think Fox has not had a balanced trial by media while Ava gets away with it and her old tweets are all deleted from sight

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:35:57

There you go - foxie totally agrees with be aggressive to me too Ha Ha

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:36:58

Perhaps some should focus on my opinion rather than your opinion of me

Eh?

Pragmatist Sat 30-Sept-23 19:49:55

Read the messages above where people say they are being aggressive towards be - totally laughable

I agree with Grandma French - but think that media and influencers have directed public opinion there and they have a huge influence on public opinion today - people are afraid to have a different view as they are often vilified too

Dickens Sat 30-Sept-23 22:49:40

I think I will leave this debate now as it appears to have derailed completely and search for my tin-foil hat instead.

Getting back to the original point Fox reduced a woman to the sum (zero) of his sexual interest while the presenter sat and giggled.

Pathetic!

Laurence Fox launches a fresh attack on Ava Evans after being suspended for sexist rant... as GB News descends into further chaos with more infighting and execs warning staff that broadcasters do not have a 'right to abuse'

On desert island discs today, Katherine Ryan, a comedian was asked about an interview with Louis Theroux where she talked about a male comedian she believed to be a dangerous sexual predator. She didn’t name RB but it’s widely believed that’s who she meant. She said she hadn’t been subjected to abuse so didn’t feel able to name the man she believed to be a predator
It’s a minefield. It reminds me of working in various teams/offices when other women warned you to avoid x

Anniebach Sun 01-Oct-23 21:11:34

Is it fair to say ‘it’s widely believed who she meant’ , who can forget Operation Yewtree ?

I haven't forgotten it, and also remember the hundreds of victims who spoke out but weren't believed, and couldn't get justice because they were up against a famous man and couldn't prove something he made impossible to prove.

There has to be a way for victims to get justice, and if several unconnected women say that the same man did the same (specific) thing to them there is no reason to assume that they are making it up.

Anniebach Sun 01-Oct-23 21:43:29

Katherine Ryan had not been subjected to abuse and she -believed not knew

He appeared mostly upset at the "wall-to-wall" media coverage his outburst is receiving.

For someone very much in the public-eye, and supposedly 'aware', I'm surprised he's surprised... surely he knows by now that this kind of debacle - on-air spats - is meat and drink to the media? And it will run until it' s replaced by something else equally 'newsworthy'

Perhaps GB News should have chosen the panellists, and those they wanted to talk to on air about something as sobering and alarming as the statistics on male suicide, more selectively; a political correspondent who likes to "distance herself from men" and a shock-jock, were maybe not the best choices.

I've just re-watched the rapper, 'Professor Green' (Stephen Manderson) talking about experiencing anxiety at a young age and not knowing how to deal with it, and his own father's suicide (his uncle also took his own life a few years earlier) He might not be most people's idea of a mental health activist, but he articulates mental health problems from a male perspective coherently and sensitively.

"talking about things, regularly - gives them less power over you"

11 minutes long, but worth watching.
