A Swell Idea From ASDA To Deter Shoplifters!
I am not a messy person but...
A second thread to share our thoughts and prayers on this moving situation
Egypt has allowed a convoy of 17 humanitarian aid trucks to cross the Rafa border so far today.
My previous post may be untrue,
17 trucks are currently waiting for Egypt of open the Rafa crossing.
(It really does take a lot of patience to find correct information in this conflict)
Glorianny
No Israel protects Israelis. However it kills Palestinians quite indiscriminately, and not just by bombing, or in war. So is it OK to protect your own people but slaughter others?
Like the 130 premature babies who will die because there is no fuel
You have Hamas to thank for that and of course Israel protects Israelis as it should. That’s their job.
As for slaughter we know who does that and doesn’t give any warnings they’re about to carry out a massacre and if they did issue warnings Israel wouldn’t stop their civilians leaving in order to use them as human shields.
I really don't feel that either Whitewavemark or Glorianny have been anti-Semitic; most of their posts seem very balanced.
I hate how the Saudi Arabian government acts, yet I'm not Islamophobic.
I hate how the Israeli government acts, yet I'm not anti-Semitic.
This muddling of meanings does not help.
For the record I am horrified by what Hamas did to ordinary Israelis, and I'm horrified by the actions of the Israeli government which has killed so many ordinary Palestinian people.
Should Israel have just taken it on the chin ?
Of course no nation would do that when one and a half thousand citizens have just been murdered and sometimes tortured in their own homes and at a music festival.
Urged on by Iran and others, hamas have gone so far this time that Israel has to take a stand.
Any anti-Semitic posts have been deleted, some other comments sail close to the wind and others, while not anti-Semitic show no concern at all for Israelis, and Jewish people everywhere generally.
We can feel sorry for Palestinian people who don’t support hamas in their barbaric acts but who will now be caught up in this war thanks to hamas.
It’s not only innocent civilians in Israel and Gaza who have been caught up but hatred is spreading here. The whole protest movement is fermenting irrational hatred and some innocent children are being injured. It needs to stop here. There is no point.
Channel 5 News is reporting that the convoy of 17 trucks was allowed into Gaza through the Rafa crossing earlier today
Please could someone explain to me exactly what Palestinians should do when they are deprived of their human rights, lose their homes, see their children killed and imprisoned and are virtually held in an open prison?
When no western power supports them, the UN is powerless and their only allies are fundamentalist muslims what are they expected to do?

I would suggest not aligning themselves with a terrorist organisation whose sole intention is to kill every Jew on the planet would be a starting point.
I live in England. Does that mean that I automatically ally myself to the Conservative Party?

The Palestinians living in Gaza elected Hamas, just as the U.K. elected the Conservative Party.
The difference being that the U.K. holds elections every 5 years usually, Gaza hasn’t had an election since 2007…
I admire your stamina, GrannyGravy.
Even repeating facts a dozen times makes no difference, though.

I do wish people would stop repeating thi untruth. There are two Hamas organisations. If it helps you can think of them as equivalent to Sinn Fein and the IRA. The political wing of Hamas agreed to negotiate and was willing to accept a two state solution. It came to power in 2007. There have not been elections since then . One of the causes of this is the position of Pallestinians in East Jerusalem and their ability to vote. It's a complicated matter but there is info here www.newarab.com/analysis/cancelled-elections-cast-long-shadow-over-palestinian-politics
The terrorist organisation is a separate body.
Yes Glorianny Hamas, two faces of the same coin…

And on Sinai, I think he’s right. End game is as many Gazans in Egypt as possible. Egypt will then send to Europe.

el- sisi doesn’t want them. Who knows how many terrorists will be in that number. He has enough problems keeping a lid on his own home grown terrorists ( the muslim brotherhood) without importing Hamas.
Ordinary Palestinian people have been let down by the corruption of those they have elected to govern them, whether it's Hamas or Fatah. They have also been let down by countries which have turned a blind eye to that corruption and also to the Israeli Government that has supported the illegal settlements in Palestinian territory. They are now being let down by everyone who supports the incursion by the IDF into Gaza. Is this post showing support to Hamas? NO, most definitely not. Do I support the Israeli govt of Netanyahu. NO, most definitely not. Do I support the Palestinian people's right to be safe and properly governed. Yes, most certainly. Do I support the right of Israel to protect itself? Yes, most certainly but not in a way that punishes innocent people and children and is in breach of the law. The way forward has to be diplomatic or we will see the whole of the Middle East explode. If anyone thinks that if it does, they won't be affected they really need to think again. This situation could lead to much more than Palestinians and Israelis dying.

To have a total understanding one must not be partisan.
Corbyn is most definitely partisan.

Well said
The view of some on here seems to be that the killing of Palestinians is their own fault because they elected Hamas. If we apply the same logic the killing of the Israelis is their own fault because they voted for Netenyahu. Had they chosen a less right wing government their might have been a solution found to the problem
Glorianny oil and water just don’t mix.
I don’t there are solutions.
I don’t think….
The solution I am afraid is not as easy as having a government that you approve of.
Anybody who does not accept Israel's right to exist please try and understand its history and please watch The Devil's Confession the recorded tapes made by Adolf Eichmann.

Calistemon Jeremy Corbyn said it is very wrong what happened to Israel,
it's not partisan to stand up for the innocent Palestinians who are being bombed not enough food water is allowed to get through, that is war crimes by Israel That is standing up for humanity. Or are the western governments, PM snd KS who support Israel, when most of the shadow cabinet are Friends of Israel isn't that partisan
