Emergency Aid To Gaza Halted Because Israel Says So?

Israel claims that UN aid workers were involved in the October 7 attack and - without any independent proof - UN suspends aid with immediate effect.
Why? Does Netanyahu - an unbalanced individual at best - have so much influence on the United Nations, an organisation which has proved itself fairly useless down the decades?

Good grief. They were in hospital, one was paralysed. It's against the rules of war. What about the trauma to the staff? Other patients?

They saw their chance and took it.They had intelligence about these three men being in the hospital and decided to take them out before anymore plans to murder by these hamas members be made. A good call.

It was the only call

If this hit had been on Hitler and his head honcho’s a lot of Jewish, Gypsies and other so called undesirables could have been saved from death…

GrannyGravy13 yes - isn’t the figure thought to be 6 million Jewish people?

Caleo Wed 31-Jan-24 12:47:10

There are tens of thousands of aid workers employed by UNHCR and twelve of them were guilty. This is not sufficient reason to withdraw aid to people about to die of starvation and disease.

maddyone Wed 31-Jan-24 13:10:44

I’m sorry Caleo, you are simply wrong.
GrannyGravy provided the link, or it might have been a screenshot, but it was very clear that out of twenty thousand UN representatives in Gaza, 20% of them were involved with Hamas. This included taking part in the depraved murders and rapes on 7/10 and also included keeping Israeli hostages in their apartments.
Clearly countries/governments are going to consider carefully if they are able to continue to fund an organisation which is engaged in terrorism. Whilst this is being considered they have decided to temporarily pause their support.

Severe starvation is beginning to rear its ugly head in Gaza.

Frankly I would rather risk the odd terrorist than watch a child begging for food.

The USA has already stated that the UNRWA must not cease its operations - it recognises the vital part it plays in humanitarian aid.

I suspect that the threats to stop funding were just that - thank goodness.

Feed the terrorists, no matter they rape babies

Anniebach

Feed the terrorists, no matter they rape babies

Is starving Palestinian babies good enough revenge for you then? An eye for an eye sad

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-24 14:16:13

No, but is it good enough to hurt some children?

Maremia Wed 31-Jan-24 14:37:21

Anniebach, where in this thread do you see support for Hamas and the atrocities they committed? Being concerned about suffering children in Gaza, is not support for Hamas.
On another point, if Netanyahu gets his way, and all Palestinians are removed from Gaza, where do they go? How many millions of them? Small boats?????

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-24 14:55:44

UNRWA, some are certainly supporting ,

My concern is for all, I will not play ‘the children card ‘

Maremia Wed 31-Jan-24 15:57:40

I can't speak for others, but what comes over to me is that people are supporting the essential aid work provided by UNRWA, not any Hamas terrorists involved in its structure, but I will play the 'children' card, neither Palestinian nor Israeli children deserve any of this.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-24 16:06:17

Some working as UNRWA workers were involved in the 7thOctober attack

Maremia Wed 31-Jan-24 16:33:39

Yes, some of them took part in that unspeakable day of terror. Are they still in post?

Caleo Wed 31-Jan-24 17:48:14

www.theguardian.com/world/2024/jan/26/unrwa-investigation-staff-7-october-attack-israel

Please see reliable reportage 12 (twelve )UNHCR employees were involved in the crime .

Oreo Wed 31-Jan-24 18:41:03

But many more supporting hamas, thousands.
The suspension of funds should be extended if anything until the facts are established tho.
So much cash poured into Gaza and was used by hamas to build their hateful regime.

I agree.
There seems to be a sort of tearful one upmanship going on, as in oh I’m more caring than you are so I must be right.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-24 19:01:00

Yes Oreo I have even been asked ‘where is your humanity’ ?

They can’t even do that can they because they don’t control their own coastline I believe. They are prisoners in their own country ( what’s left of it).

susytish Wed 31-Jan-24 19:27:39

It looks as though the aim is to flatten Gaza and then have settlements there. Some of the Israeli cabinet have met and said as much. If this is correct then it is beyond awful.
The rest of the world looks on, for their own reasons.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-24 19:30:18

Again - said as much, this is not ‘said’

Glorianny Wed 31-Jan-24 19:42:31

This seems to be what some people think is warranted. I wonder if children having limbs amputated without anaesthetic is sufficient revenge for 7/10

susytish Wed 31-Jan-24 19:45:26

Anniebach I don’t understand your post.

bmacca Wed 31-Jan-24 19:47:25

They have most definitely said it, maybe you missed it Anniebach

Thanks Caleo, so 12 took part in the atrocity, have been dismissed, and are facing criminal prosecution, but the whole operation must be closed down? Is that a general principle, that a huge organisation, with some corrupt, murderous, rapist employees, must close down? Should that principle apply to organisations in the UK, or only to those in Gaza?
