Well, it is down to 14,998, after this event and if the puppies are put down 14,994.

I just hope the other 14,994 aren't discovered this way as well.

As far as I'm concerned, people may as well be out and about with lions on leads.
I'm really nervous of dogs, and the thought of it is really unsettling.

And here we go again, another XL Bully attack and this time two babies. This just has to stop.

That is just your worst nightmare. I would have been deeply traumatised if I had been with my children or grandchildren. The poor mother is scared to go out now.

I too read this and it’s horrendous! It doesn’t matter what breed this dog is (personally given that this poor woman did manage to rescue both children who only had very minor injuries I doubt if this was an XL Bully), this was a large dog, unmuzzled and off the lead and out of control. This is what we need to stop, irresponsible breeders and irresponsible owners. Most dogs can inflict life changing or fatal injuries when agressive.

The mother says she desperately tried to stop the 'huge' animal and screamed for help, as the dog's owner ran from the opposite side of the park and attempted to restrain the animal

So the owner just let it off, free to roam and attack!
Then fled the scene.

Whatever type of huge dog, it should not be out in a public park without a muzzle and being on a lead.

There have been far too many of these attacks now.
More has to be done to stop these irresponsible owners.

As someone who that keeps my dog on a lead I get so much criticism on Facebook from people who say their dogs are always off lead. They seem to think that it’s the fault of the owner if their dog hasn’t got perfect recall. They go on about how cruel it is to not let dogs run free most of the time.

They would not want my dog running free. Loves humans, hates other dogs and, I have no doubt, would happily kill them. She is always on a strong lead in public places.

I am scared of dogs. I loathe them. Everywhere I go - the countryside, the beach - people have dogs. I hate it when they run up to me, just being friendly I'm sure. I have to say it can spoil a day out as there are so many everywhere. When it comes to the most dangerous dogs I just ask myself how this country has so many complete idiots who want to possess one.

I used to object strongly when an off lead dog ran up to my 2nd Boxer I rescued him aged 8. My first Boxer was a sweetheart and loved most people and dogs but I had him since he was just 12 months and I could run him off lead the 2nd one was a grumpy old git and not very trustworthy. Sadly I lost him to cancer before I could try to re-educate him
I have seen your posts about the rescue with an xl bully it is so sad. Some xl bullies have proven to be extremely volatile and dangerous but they are not all like that

She does seem to be very sweet. And Ithought the original idea of breeding them was to breed a dog of that kind that had a gentler disposition? It’s just that it’s giving people the idea that they’re all sweet natured and an injustice has been done.

There was an article in the DM this week , Wednesday I think, by a woman not much younger than the lady who was killed last weekend describing a similar attack on her by XL bullies. I think she was outside and they were not family dogs, but her description of what it is like when these dogs get their teeth into you and are trying to pull great lumps of you off, was absolutely horrendous.

It was only a few months ago and she is still having treatment and may never fully recover use of her arm.

How would they ever know that the vicious gene had been bred out of every XL Bully?

I'm beginning to think that all larger dogs should be muzzled as well as on a lead when out in public places.

Dog walkers often try to control more dogs than is possible, as was seen in the tragic case recently. When a group of dogs are together they can revert to the pack instinct.

The dog(s) must have been roaming around for some time too and, having the blood lust, could have turned on people, children included.

I hope they find them, they're put down and the owner charged.

I have been saying for years that dogs need to be licensed, registered and chipped because it's the only way we can start to get to grips with these monstrous owners.

It is already the law that all dogs should be microchipped and registered - and has been for some time here in Scotland. Sadly, you regularly see posts on social media about lost dogs - or dogs which have been found and don't have a microchip, so obviously many owners just don't bother to comply. How we get around that, I honestly don't know. Responsible owners will always comply with the regulations.

Today I passed a lady in a very small alleyway she had two
large dogs a German Shepherd and a BullyXL there were both on leads and both muzzled She stood still and turned both dogs away from me as I passed her
Phew, but that was good behaviour, although I still have no idea why anyone would have a bully as a pet

Nor me BlueBelle. At least she seems to be a responsible owner. I have never seen the attraction, except to the criminal fraternity. Perhaps the GSD will teach it some manners.
