Last night, having nothing better to do, I watched Nige on Utube. He is quite savvy, creepy though he may be. He said the British election was already lost, Starmer will be returned as PM and the Labour Party will be on the nose after 5 years in power which is when the Reform a party will step in with an overwhelming majority. I actually think he might be right. He also thinks Trump will get in even with a guilty verdict and he wouldn’t say if he had been offered a post if and when he did. So Donald, his best mate, probably has something to offer there. Interesting.

Like many other MPs he is self-serving. He was upset at the timing of the election as he has better things to do in the US at that time. Obviously more lucrative things!

maddyone Fri 31-May-24 11:12:35

I think the fact that he’s stood how many times for an MP and didn’t get elected put him off standing again.

This.

JaneJudge Fri 31-May-24 11:18:31

I don't think he is suited to the world stage

Glorianny

So what he is actually forecasting is the end of the Conservative party and a take over by Reform? I think he underestimates the financial backing behind the Tories.
He's trying to make himself relevant at a time when the right wing has shown just how useless it is and the harm it causes. His only hope is to forecast the failure of a Labour government.

I think his only hope is that Trump wins in the US and he is installed as his UK factotum. I don’t think his future lies in UK politics.

Well, after last night, Farage and Piers Morgan are now tearing lumps out of each other, on social media.

It couldn't be happening to a nicer pair 🤣

DiamondLily Fri 31-May-24 12:06:26

With you there. Both attention seekers who bring nothing of relevance.🙄

I dont get Farage at all.

I was expecting him to lead Reform. Or play a big role. But seems not?

Perhaps he likes to speak freer, rather than being tied to a Party?
Which may be better for the Country??

Well Reform isn’t a political party but a registered company I believe. And Tice is its main benefactor. And he’s set his sights on America.

I cant believe how irate people get when talking about NF. You all got to vote for Brexit and the remainers lost. Its up to you to vote and change things. He must be good because he helped to get the Brexit vote and I would vote for Brexit again and I dont care who that upsets and how many of you clutch their pearls when they read this. My life is very fulfilled so I dont get my knickers in a twist like a lot of you lot do.

Yes he is good. Good at lying.

It reads to me that you do 'get your knickers in a twist' as you so charmingly put it. I won't disturb you in your fulfilled life by asking you for a list of Brexit benefits.

he is not an MP despite 7 attempts as candidate.

DiamondLily Fri 31-May-24 13:17:37

He was an ineffective MEP (rarely took part in anything), claimed a large amount in expenses, and then swanned off.

Let him go to America to help Trump - no loss to us.🤷‍♀️

Wyllow3 Fri 31-May-24 13:24:27

And its the first spotting of "pearl clutching' since it was mention on the "shutdown comments" thread as now not used on GN....

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 31-May-24 13:28:48

Oh do! I’d love to see that list. Will it be longer than the list of negative things that Brexit has brought us?

soothed Fri 31-May-24 13:34:59

Meh, I dislike Farage.

I will vote CPB this year, regardless of what he says.

There’s something NQR about him. Not sure what. He reminds me of the school sneak.

He always reminded me of a spivvy used car salesman. Especially when he was wearing one of those camel coats with a velvet collar.😱

Long thread, but mentioned 2 x on this page.

^Maybe because other MPs were doing their jobs rather than going to Dover every morning.^

Farage isn’t an MP.

Exactly! That's why he has nothing better to do with his time but to stir up trouble.

Dinahmo Fri 31-May-24 14:05:26

A bit irrelevant I know but why do some GNers insist on referring to pearl clutchers. I doubt that many of us wear pearls (unless they are ginormous)

Surely pearls were worn by our mothers or grandmothers? The proverbial twinset and....

nanna8 Fri 31-May-24 14:20:10

I must get my grandma’s pearls fixed. They are quite beautiful but the clasp has disintegrated with age. I would wear them if they were mended.

Because it's a saying to describe a certain kind of behaviour - nothing to do with wearing pearls.

madeleine45 Fri 31-May-24 14:56:34

Now who would be keen to work with a felon, who is a liar, full of self importance and who thinks that if you dont like the result of a trial, that you keep saying that the judge etc are all wrong not you? Oh yes Nigel Farage , keen to join Trump! Well no doubt he sees ways of getting more money and more coverage. Ugh!!

I wear pearl stud earrings, with a matching necklace and bracelet, haven’t worn a twin set since my Gran knitted me one in the early 60’s

I know that - but it's still outdated IMO. Surely getting knickers would be more apt.
