Sign of the times - Sunak is to the right of One Nation Conservatives who used to be centre stage.

The Tories are heading to the far right with the present regime.People prefer middle of the road policies without the click bait Fascism which keeps rearing its ugly head and spreading hate and xenophobia.Brexit seems to have made our country more intolerant, it only seems to benefit the super rich and Tory donors who are lining their pockets atthe taxpayers expense.

God help us if Farage becomes prime minister... from very bad to even worse!
Politicians are a motley crew as far as I'm concerned ... more interested in personal power than real progress and it seems they will say anything to get that power.

Comparing Farage with the majority of politicians misses the point by a country mile. I don’t agree that politicians are a motley crew … more interested in personal power than real progress …Will say anything to get that power

You might not like him but plenty do.

He was in Great Yarmouth last night and the venue was packed and they were turning people away.

The problem is people who don’t like him think everyone should agree with them. Just like the Brexit vote. They will go to their graves bitter and twisted because their side didn’t win. They just cannot accept that more people wanted us to leave the EU.

Casdon Wed 12-Jun-24 12:58:52

More people want a Labour Government than want Farage though Primrose53. It’s karma.

Phew - evidence for this please ? It certainly isn’t here on gransnet. Bitter and twisted ?! Who is 😂

I think we all are if we are left of centre Iam64 x it’s the cross Primrose53 thinks we bear!

I personally don’t know of a single person who wants a Labour government. That’s counting friends, neighbours, customers etc. i don’t think there’s a Labour candidate even standing in our area, not that I would vote for them if there was!

Casdon Wed 12-Jun-24 13:04:38

You’re obviously mixing with the wrong crowd then Primrose53 we all have our crosses to bear I guess.

Primrose53 Wed 12-Jun-24 13:09:47

I take back what I said about there not being a Labour candidate here. Because I have not seen a single Labour board or sign anywhere with a 20 mile radius of my home I assumed nobody was standing.

Apparently a female teacher with a double barrelled name has been selected. Not a chance in hell I’d say as they have not won here in 60+ years. 🤣🤣

Iam64 Wed 12-Jun-24 13:11:21

Strangely enough Primrose, I live across the road from our excellent Labour candidate. All my family and friends will be voting Labour. Even my Tory son in law has ‘ had it with that lot. They’ve no idea about how some people really struggle’. He has his own successful business but we are happy to welcome him back from the Dark Side. Oh yes - he voted Remain and Brexit has affected his business negatively - of course it has

It seems Sunak knows he will lose, he wants it over quickly and then he will resign as an MP and sit back and enjoy his wealth. The Tories who want to remain will likely jump into the Reform party, hedging their bets. Either that or welcome Garage into their own party and park their cars under his roof. Vroom vroom.

Iam64 Wed 12-Jun-24 13:33:37

I’ll be surprised if many tories go to Remain.

Wyllow3 Wed 12-Jun-24 13:36:31

I will too. I think time in opposition and a re-grouping. Which is what always happens when a party faces a big loss.

Interest will be - I presume Sunak will stand down - who is elected leader.

Did you actually mean 'Remain', or did you mean to say 'Reform', Iam64? 😕

Oh dear, Mr Farage! In order to show my dislike of him, if I have to say his name I pronounce it to rhyme with 'garage'.

Helenlouise3 Wed 12-Jun-24 14:25:03

I watched the announcement of the Tory manifesto yesterday and all I heard was what Labour were going to do that was wrong. I heard nothing new. After 14 years I am no better off than what I was when they came to power. We have both worked all our lives and at the age of 67 had to wonder whether we could actually afford to retire.

OMG How original, not!🤣

I can never understand why Labour supporters always have to use terms of ridicule or offence when talking about other parties. Words like scum, skanks, trash, disgusting and a lot worse. It’s just horribly juvenile.

I’d say the complete opposite frankly, those who admire Farage, Johnson and Trump seem astounded that many of us don’t!

I don’t like any of them, I vote remain, I couldn’t be less bitter and twisted if I tried, just saddened by the mess we are in and frustrated at some Brexiteers being unable to accept this.

We need an effective Opposition in our country for democracy to function as it should. Quite frankly, the Tories aren’t going to be much use. The Libs, Greens etc aren’t any better. All veer towards a more socialist view. Labour and Conservative have become so similar in their policies that we need other opinions. Farage shakes things up a bit. He is accused of being ‘racist’, for example, an easy insult to level at anyone who questions why we have admitted so many immigrants to this country without a clear plan of how we can provide housing, healthcare, schooling etc. Those who come here are not all refugees! Many of the public actually agree with him and if the more left wing among us don’t like their views they MUST remember they have a perfect right to express them peacefully. Unlike the agitators who throw milkshakes etc at Farage and threaten him and other politicians and public figures with violence. These people need to be taken out of society as they obviously do not understand the concepts of free speech and democracy.

Primrose53 pretty rich! Lots of people, from across the political spectrum, have names for politicians! I’d say typical of a Farage supporter to infer only Labour supporters call others names! Johnson did and does it very frequently!

I would certainly be off PDQ if I was Dishi Rishi (as my very right wing called him!).

I’d be packing my bags right now and clear right off with my lovely wife and daughters!
