What is it that attracts racists, Islamaphobes, homophobes and general bigots to Nigel Farage?

I’ve pinched this question from James O’Brian. And to me it is obvious, - they are fascists - talking about replacing the police with paramilitaries and bringing back the death penalty as well as shoot f….g immigrants has huge echoes of 1930s Germany.

So why would you vote for him?

Why would you repeat something James Obrien said? A Lefty trouble maker if there ever was one. He can't have a normal conversation without highly controversial comments designed to cause offence. We need Reform for our grandchildren's future, too many in the country means their chances are reduced, often due to positive discrimination, jobs, homes education and also Net Zero which will have a devastating effect because they are just hoping that the sun and the wind will solve everything which they never did and never will.

Primrose, I think that you will find that it was a Farage supporter who called posters liars and told them to " make your own mind up, if you have one"

Interesting that the thread has now disintegrated into the handful of people who hate Reform, hate Farage and hate anybody who doesn’t agree with them.

You few enjoy talking amongst yourselves. 😴😴😴😴

You are a funny lady aren't you?

Educate us and have a go at answering the original question please.

Nobody seems to have managed so far.

"Hate" is a very emotive word to bandy about.

I dislike Farage - intensely - but don't wish him any harm, which is usually the case when someone hates another.

But that said, what should we say, if we don't agree with what he stands for? Should we just shut-up? Not debate at all? Pretend that we think we agree with him?

This is News & Politics, it's inevitable that posters will champion one party or another.

If the discussion isn't going the way you like it - why not put your oar in and tell us why you think the OP is wrong in her assumption?

too many in the country means their chances are reduced

Like we're going to sink under the weight of thousands of immigrants?

I’ll just leave this here.

Years ago this country began collecting data in the form of census, this was to plan for the future generations, education, housing etc. Its not immigrants per se, its uncontrolled immigration that causes the problems.

Oh no, snitchy snitchy? How come? For very politely asking for the initial question to be answered?

Tricia -

Reform are against Net Zero climate policies they are climate change deniers - their clear policy is to take us out of Net Zero agreements on our climate's future.

The last thing in the world we “need” for our grandchildren’s future is Reform!

I disagree. Have you looked at what net zero will do to this country? Or just listened to MSM who are paid to push it. Do you know where the components for their wind turbines come from or their solar panels.

Siope for a family with two Cambridge graduates, this video was very underwhelming and reminded me of playground banter. What was the point?

Do you deny climate change is happening?

Just seen Farage on the news- has he been on a sunbed? His skin looks like old leather. Perhaps he’s been sunning himself in the med, Richard Tice looks the same. We should be told. ( sorry to bring such a shallow tone to this erudite discussion).🙂

They have obviously been Tango’d! It’s the ultra chic look, perfected by Trump.

I think referencing the Gerald Scarfe cartoon of Farage from UKIP days?

tricia58 Tue 02-Jul-24 18:45:40

I believe its always happened and nature deals with it, not extremists who make a lot of money from it.

Wyllow3 Tue 02-Jul-24 18:56:50

"not extremists who make a lot of money from it."

Who do you mean?

Eloethan Tue 02-Jul-24 19:35:27

I do think there is a difference between people expressing concerns re immigration levels and somebody suggesting that the people in boats should be used for target practice.

Having said that, I am of the opinion that whenever there are tough times, people automatically seem to look for scapegoats - and politicians tend to follow the crowd because they are frightened of losing votes.

The chaos in our country has not been caused by immigrants but by an inept, dishonest and corrupt government.

tricia58 Tue 02-Jul-24 19:52:44

You need to start reading real news is you really have no idea, there are hundreds of people including the very rich who are making money from all of this

tricia58 Tue 02-Jul-24 19:55:04

Do you think we have ever experienced a situation like this, migrants most days coming into this country expecting streets of gold? While the real refugees are languishing in camps and don't get involved with people smugglers

Perhaps you could give a source from the "real news?"

It’s sounding scarily as though we are moving towards Trumpian views on what is fake neeews

But most immigration is controlled!
