It seems the shooter was just a nutjob ,an outsider who likely had serious mental problems. Sad that the security didn’t pick him up beforehand and save the lives of the onlookers. Looking at a picture of him, he looked younger than his years. How ridiculous that people like him are even allowed to own high powered rifles. They are very different in that country.

From what I’ve read, the FBI have so far found no mental health issues, the pupil counsellor at his school has said he was quiet but did have friends, he was a very bright student and has given no cause for concern as an employee.

We may never know what led him to do what he did, but what is there to back up your post?

The fact that he was not on record as receiving MH treatment doesn't mean that he wasn't seriously disturbed or obsessed.

Well no, it doesn’t. But surely it’s better for the authorities to find out all the facts behind the shooting and the motivation behind it, so they can try to stop it happening again. Just dismissing a gunman as a nutjob won’t do that.

Your post is a deliberate attempt to misrepresent - in other words, twist - what Maggiemaybe wrote.

She's simply re-iterated what is so far known about the man who fired the rifle. Which is very little, and a description that could apply to millions of young American men.

Nowhere in her post is she defending him, nor implying that it is "normal to shoot someone".

And yes, it is ridiculous that young men are allowed to own high-powered rifles - but in this case, it seems the weapon belonged to his father.

In a poll I found ( but couldn’t copy and post) it showed that Republicans wanted the gun laws to remain the same and felt that guns protected people but that Democrats wanted tighter gun control and that they didn’t protect people. So why are the Democrats being blamed for what was a gun related incident? Imo Trump will do nothing about gun control in the population as a whole but will make sure that he himself is better protected.

If there is any chance of interrupting this kind of event, it's worth trying to find out.

On our news it said he was a loner with no friends and mental health issues. I didn’t just make it up,I wouldn’t do that. We very frequently get different news and views from the UK news. I just hope the 20 year old who was shot by the FBI or whoever actually was the shooter - to me this resembles the assissination of President Kennedy rather too much, killing the supposed marksman before establishing that he actually was the shooter!

Without bothering to look it up, I seem to remember that at least three American presidents have been shot dead, and that other prominent figures have been shot at before now!

I think it was Trump himself who said God was there that day - well God certainly wasn't for those killed and injured, including a heroic fire chief who was killed trying to save his family.
