... thereby introducing race as a matter of importance, and one would have to be naive not to understand his implication, and his intention to disparage the Democrats.

Her father is of African Jamaican heritage……her mother Tamil Indian heritage.

Thank you, I didn’t know that. Having just seen her on television this evening, I could observe that she was unlikely to be African American. I could see that she’s of mixed race.
Not that it matters one jot. She’s a woman and mixed race. I hope she gets to be president. The first female American President. And the second mixed race American President. 🤞

I actually think Farage is not racist. Some of his followers may well be but I don’t think he is at all. People like to throw that accusation around when they don’t like or agree with someone. Shameful and says more about them than the person they are castigating.As for Kamala Harris’s background, why is it an issue ? Again, it says more about those highlighting it .

I disagree with you nanna8. Farage has said too many things which are definitely racist. I'm afraid I think that somebody who says racist things is racist. I'm not really sure what you think that says about me for seeing the evidence before my eyes - I certainly don't think it's shameful. I think you're being incredibly naive if you can't see what he meant by his comment about Kamala Harris.

Where I live no one gives two hoots where anyone came from and I would have thought a big country like the US with many peoples from all over the world wouldn’t care,either. Farage I have listened to many times and I have never heard him say anything racist at all. Not to say that some of his adherents, real or imagined, haven’t. I wouldn’t know that because I don’t listen to those people or even know who they are. As for being a woman user,not many weren’t/ aren’t in politics. Both sides. Why do you think Farage said what he did then nanna8? If it’s not relevant, and he didn’t know her background, and given that she is visibly not a black African lady, why did he say she was?

Of course Farage is racist. It's the only card in his pack and he plays it constantly, he's a master at disguising it to make his comments appear acceptable. Farage made immigration the central plank of his pledges yet he wasn't even in the H of C when immigration was discussed! Says it all really.

I noticed his absence - so much for the much repeated expectation that some had that he would “hold Labour’s feet to the fire” on immigration and asylum seekers.

I did note Anderson asking a completely fatuous question which highlighted how hopeless Reform’s only proposal on preventing the smugglers is.

Then surely you will question why Nigel Farage highlighted it?

I doubt that Farage's remarks will be widely publicised in the USA (it's not in MSM as far as I can see). but I'm just imagining the furore that might have developed if he had said of Vance's wife "Black Indian Woman" ie another remark not acknowledging American citizenship and values.

Yes, we're just an army of haters who love to hate for the sake of hating.

Holding a politician to account for the things they say and the things they do is not something peculiar, nor is it the preserve of those on the left of politics.

It's tiresome hearing the word "hate" bandied over criticism of Farage - or anyone else for that matter - but up it pops again and again. No doubt in order to invalidate the criticism.

But really that's how it comes across, people firing off hateful remarks when they get the chance. And yes, many of them are very hateful. I just say what I see. I don't post nasty venomous things about any politician myself so it all seems very unpleasant, especially when other posters get caught in the firing line.

I believe it seems unpleasant to you because you don’t agree with what people say, rather than because it actually is hateful Chestnut. You have to accept that many people dislike his views and just as you called Angela Rayner ‘uncouth and hobby’ you will hear things about Farage that you don’t agree with.
