We will lose the benefit and that is fine by us. I think older people, especially those like us who are comfortably off, should be expected to make a contribution to sorting out the country's economic situation.

I expected better of her.

I'm sad to have to say that I hoped for better from her, Callistemon, but my expectations were not high.

This is just the moment at which Labour could have been economically bolder...

Wait until the budget and spending review.

Then opinions will carry more weight.

Yes, it seems to be ill-thought out and hasty.

Well - I guess you might say that, but don’t forget that she was working with the previous governments plan, and was trying to mitigate against the fact that there was no money.

Best wishes to Maisie and Callistemon for speedy healing .

Thank you 🙂

Thank you from me, too flowers

I didn't pick up about your knee, Callistemon, but I was a bit out of it yesterday.... I hope it's doing well, I know they can be tricky.

Yes, it's taking a while MaizieD
I hope the hip recovery will go well (and be quicker).

Did you have tkr? When?

It does take quite some time. I wasn't allowed to drive for 3 weeks.

I completely agree. Growth won’t happen by cutting, as she seems determined to do to ? close the imaginary “black hole”.
Get well soon. My OH has had THRs of both hips and can walk 8 - 9 miles with his walking group and manage stiles too.

She's following a well-worn path isn't she?

Inevitably, so will the economy.

I'm not usually prone to quoting Jeremy Corbyn's observations, but I think he has a point in this one:

The general election did not allow for the full expression of people power. Rather, we saw a rejection of the political establishment, leading to a loveless landslide; this election saw the second-lowest turnout since 1918 and the smallest combined vote share for the two main parties since 1945.

... and certainly on this - though I think his thoughts and the electorate's run along separate lines. But the principle is correct;

Public discontent with a broken political system will only grow as the government fails to make the real change that people expect.

Dickens in complete agreement with Jeremy Corbyn. Although does he know how we get out of this mess? Or are we stuck with what 20 percent of voters gave us for the next 5 years? I think stuck … well and truly stuck.
