I just wanted to correct misinformation given out this morning.

Contrary to the information given out.

Starmer is NOT going on holiday, whilst the current situation remains as it is.

Whitewavemark2 how else are they supposed to convey how unhappy they are

You mean the right wing racist thugs?

Perhaps they can right a thesis when they are sitting in their cell.

vegansrock Sun 04-Aug-24 19:37:52

Do you think smashing up police vehicles, setting fires to buildings, destroying property, injuring police officers is an acceptable way to convey one’s unhappiness? Maybe they could do what other protesters are told to do - lobby MPs , get elected, organise peaceful marches etc.

LizzieDrip Sun 04-Aug-24 19:38:36

Biscuitmuncher presumably you are aware that, because of the seriousness of the current situation, whipping up the situation online is an offence. Just saying!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 04-Aug-24 19:39:46

Write!! Not right

How on earth can people make jokes about this situation?

I'd rather be literal any day.

There will always be unhappy people, life is unfair, I’m sure we all know people (or even ourselves) who seemed to be dealt a really poor hand or have had a terrible life. They/we don’t out being aggressive, in an organised mob, attacking the police, setting fire to private property and disrupting innocent communities.

It’s not in anyway acceptable.

They do have something to lose, their liberty, and will gain criminal records which will greatly impact their lives.

LizzieDrip whipping up the situation?? Do you honestly think they're going to go on Gransnet?

Prescott had an endearing honesty about him.😃

He had a great sense of humour, and an affair with Nessa.

And he thumped an egg throwing Tory! As Tony said “ John is John…”

Yes Biscuitmuncher.

It is prudent to watch what you are saying on any social media platform.

This is a public forum so anyone can read our posts and they do. We have been quoted in the papers. I think we need to be aware of that when we post. I'm not having a go at you just letting you know.

Perhaps John might be the man to sort out the rioters?

But they didn’t work and were a waste of public money.

Biscuitmuncher, we have recently held a general election. People were able to vote to express how they felt.
Unfortunately for a minority, the majority felt differently from them. It's democracy.
As I stated elsewhere, this is akin to the domestic abuser who shouts at the victim
" now look what you made me do.."

MayBee70 Sun 04-Aug-24 20:51:03

I was unhappy about the referendum result. Went on marches in London. Many thousands of people. No trouble ( other than some people being attacked on their way home). We didn’t even leave any litter. Wrote to several MP’s from different parties. It’s what you do in a democratic society.

Curious as to what people who are unhappy and have nothing to lose are supposed to do?

Seriously?! unhappy and with nothing to lose is now a defence for arson, rioting, looting, criminal damage, attacking police officers, their dogs and horses?

The EDL is organising insurrection. Drunken, drug fuelled people are joining in and causing fear, increasing division.

In answer to your question Biscuitmuncher - they’re supposed not to break the law, not to set fire to buildings with people inside. That’s what not to do- to do is show some respect to the country they claim to love and want back. Be good role models for their children. Accept they have responsibilities as well as rights
The tv coverage of events in Rotherham, Bolton, Manchester etc truly awful

EU don’t agree…

vegansrock Sun 04-Aug-24 21:13:33

The EU don’t have water cannon, that’s a decision for individual sovereign states.

My mistake - if it’s good enough for EU member states… we can abide by their rules?

And at least one university used Gransnet as a case study for how ‘non-political’ sites discussed the election.
