Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

I'd love to go dancing with Angela.

Especially in some club in Ibiza.

She looks like she had a great time.

I went to the V fest with my daughter as part of my 60th birthday celebrations. I danced with some young men, drank alcohol, slept in a tent and had a lot of fun with my lovely 18yr old daughter. I'm sure people took drugs but I didn't. I wasn't running the country but I did have a senior management job but fortunately was of no interest to the media. If I had been I wonder how they would have described my festival visit? Drunken twerking tiger woman spends weekend in drugs den! Honestly folks, leave the poor woman alone!

Hyacinth Bucket would not have holidayed in Ibiza

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:27:25

We must have a few Buckets on here. smile

Anniebach Mon 02-Sept-24 09:29:51

We surely do

ronib Mon 02-Sept-24 09:43:42

The Nudge unit in full swing.

Parsley3 Mon 02-Sept-24 09:46:28

Hyacinth wouldn't have known what real twerking is either. 😳

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:48:59

I don't think you have to know to be disparaging about it.

That's how these things work.

This reminds me of Hyacinth Bucket when she went sailing, wearing suitable clothes,of course smile

I remember that episode!! 😂😂😂😂

I’ll come too! Ibiza is actually a beautiful Island, if one can out snobbery about Spanish destinations behind them!!!

I expect she fits the drugs in with her porn film lifestyle, and fraudulently buying her council house.
Busy lady!

I would imagine she does!

Are some living the dark ages?? Almost every nightclub in this country sadly have drugs dealing going on, as do many of our secondary schools and colleges!

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 09:58:43

There are some really pretty little pockets of beaches, and quiet areas on Ibiza.

BlueBelle

Lot of snobs on this thread

Nasty accusation, please define your idea of a snob ?

Certainly Granny this remark is a great example
Ronib posts
* She has a firm appeal to a certain demographic and she is definitely cultivating that*

ronib Mon 02-Sept-24 10:10:08

BlueBelle so you think AR isn’t crafting her image?

There are indeed, we stayed on the opposite shore to the party town. It was beautiful

I don’t! I think she’s just herself! She doesn’t need to “cultivate” anyone.

Too many people, on and off GN, look down on people like AR, people who should know better, people who might have had better starts in their life, more support, more opportunities.

Shame on you!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Sept-24 10:24:37

I admire Angela Rayner for doing well in her chosen career, despite having a hard and far from privileged start in life.

Doesn’t mean I agree with her politics though.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 10:29:14

Nobody has to, though.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 02-Sept-24 10:31:59

MissAdventure

Nobody has to, though.

Exactly!

I suppose it all comes down to

AR is not part of my tribe, she must be up to no good

attitude of some who are not Labour supporters.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 10:36:38

I think you've hit the nail on the head, there.

There also seems to be resentment from some that she has "overstepped" boundaries, and not stayed in "her place", as they see it.

I suppose it unsettles them.

AGAA4 Mon 02-Sept-24 10:44:39

There is some snobbery about northerners from some. If they haven't lost their accent then they are looked down upon.
I remember the outcry when the BBC set up in Manchester. How could they sink so low.

Siope Mon 02-Sept-24 10:46:28

Some people didn’t like it when she went to the opera either, for, of course, exactly the same snobbish reasons.

For those fretting about drugs: she could probably score as, or more, easily in Parliament if she was minded to.

ronib Mon 02-Sept-24 10:47:23

Cossy. It might not have ever occurred to you that some of us had an even more traumatic childhood and teenage experience than AR. We obviously though didn’t pick up the skill set to hoodwink 20 per cent of the Uk electorate to vote for a very strange bunch of politicians. Yes so shame on me.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Sept-24 10:51:02

I'm glad Rayner has risen above her bad start in life. smile
