So this is the biggest gaff any PM has ever made.

Sausages…. hostages how?

MayBee70 Wed 25-Sept-24 12:19:40

I once told someone that I was going to an organ rectical. Since then I have been incapable of saying the word recital because by the time the word has gone from my brain to my mouth it has turned into rectical yet again.

Grannybags that’s because some GN posters appear determined to demonise KS for every single thing he does / says / doesn’t do / doesn’t say … and then criticise those of us who rebut their tittle tattle.

With the Middle East on the brink of full scale war, overnight KS has authorised the mobilisation of 700 troops to the region to evacuate British nationals.

But let’s not bother about that on GN … let’s go on and on about who bought his glasses, and take the p* out of him for a slip of the tongue in a speech.

FFS!

👏👏👏👏👏

Choosing to mock the PM off a gaffe when speaking of hostages in Gaza rather than the hostages , does make one think ?

I still fail to see how anyone could mistake sausages for hostages.

He's not a good speaker. As has been mentioned, Farage is excellent, but as has also been mentioned he doesn't always speak for many of us.

Just seen that the unions have voted against the removal of fuel allowance for pensioners, and Starmer took a £20.000 donation to help his son get GCSEs. Not sure why anyone would need 20 grand for this.

I get why ANY MP or PM from any side of the house is critiqued, especially around personal financial gains, even when within the “rules”

But please be factual, no money changed hands, Starmer was not paid £20,000 to get his child through his GCSEs

Rekarie Wed 25-Sept-24 12:27:22

Well Sky news seems to think he certainly did get 20 grand. Something to do with accommodation for him to study in peace. Starmer is a millionaire. I reckon he could have afforded that.

Look it up

Rekarie Wed 25-Sept-24 12:32:52

Here's what you need to know from this morning:

"Sir Keir Starmer has revealed he took a £20,000 donation from Labour's Lord Alli to help his son study for his GCSEs;
The gift was listed as "accommodation" when the PM registered it, and he told the BBC it was somewhere for his son to revise "without being disturbed" during the election campaign;"

Is that factual enough for you Cossy"?

Oreo Wed 25-Sept-24 12:36:32

Rekarie is correct, it’s all over the news.

Who was it, historically, that referred to the "Queer old deane", instead of the dear old Queen?
Spooner?

Mamie Wed 25-Sept-24 12:48:26

I am old enough to remember Jack de Manio on Radio 4 saying that human life evolved from a single living orgasm. 😂

You can't beat the several instances of "Jeremy Cunt" (sic) by news readers and radio show interviewers over the years.

Fact:
1)Sky News headline is deliberately misleading.

2)Here is the article:
Sir Keir Starmer accepted accommodation worth £20,000 to help his 16-year-old son study for his GCSE exams, it has emerged.
The prime minister was asked about a donation of £20,437 made by Labour peer Lord Alli from May to July of this year.
Asked about this by the BBC, Sir Keir says: "At the beginning of the election, which we didn't know when it was going to be called, my boy was in the middle of his GCSEs.
"I made him a promise that he'll be able to get to his school, do his exams without being disturbed."
But, Sir Keir says, "we had lots of journalists outside our house where we lived".
"I'm not complaining about that, that's fine, but if you're a 16-year-old trying to do your GCSEs, your one chance in life, I promised him we'd move somewhere, we'd get out of that house, and go somewhere where he could be peacefully studying.
"Someone then offered me accommodation where we could do that, I took it up, and it was the right thing to do for my boy, it didn’t cost the taxpayer a penny."
Asked if that was Lord Alli, Sir Keir says: "Yes, of course.
"But my primary concern wasn't about influencing government, it was making sure my boy could do his GCSEs without wading through loads of journalists outside the house."

It’s bad enough that Keir Starmer’s wife has been drawn into this media / social media crap … but this is about his 16 year old son.

Factual enough for you?

Are you really willing to perpetuate this with glee! What is wrong with you?

Surely enough is enough!

Not factual at all. No money changed hands.

Rekarie Wed 25-Sept-24 13:41:21

Oh give over, LizzieDrip! Who are you to tell me what I do?

And I actually heard Keir Starmer explaining this to a Radio 4 journalist.

Believe me, the Sky headline basically came from the horse's mouth.

Go and listen to it

Oreo Wed 25-Sept-24 13:42:04

LizzieDrip you’re doing your best line in defending KS but the bottom line is that he seems to have been taking huge donations from Lord Alli for just about everything.
Accommodation, specs, suits, glasses and who knows what else.
A millionaire himself it just doesn’t sit right with voters.

I agree with you that Farage's rhetorical skills are almost as good as those of Goebbels.

I wonder how much it would cost to rent Lord and Lady Bamford's home for a wedding.

He did NOT accept cash though! He accepted the loan of accommodation, which was declared, and costed at £20,000 had he rented it privately.

Not quite the same!
