37 Prisoners Realeased from Prison By Mistake

Just that really, these 37 prisoners released with the others, shouldn't have been. The powers that be are looking for them, would have been easier if they had known where these people were going. Reassuring for the public. You have to wonder how the police and Justice system feel about it.

They have located 30 0f them, just looking for 7 now. Under the circumstances, what would you have done

Perhaps not released prisoners wrongly?

Heard on radio that one of those released in error committed a sexual assault very shortly after release.

Sounds about right 😩

Good point Rosie51.

If any of the victims of the wrongly released prisoners are reading this thread, and are in any way upset by my post, please accept my apologies.

My ‘criticism’ is, of course, not aimed at you, or any victims of crime. Having been a victim of crime myself, I understand the trauma it can cause. I hope my post did not upset anyone in this situation; no upset to you was meant.

Often wish there was a thumbs up icon on GN. Lots of good points made here. Finding blame in this situation maybe helpful, so that lessons are learnt, however the ongoing financial cutbacks mean it’s likely that more such mistakes are made. As Cossy said the judicial system is in a mess. For example, Common Platform is the digital case management system which allows all involved in a criminal case secure access to case information. It is dreadful, cost a fortune to create so won’t be replaced, and is one of the reasons people are leaving their jobs.

MaizieD no political point scoring from me, not my modus operandi.

Just a genuine observation.

I'm sorry.

But what was it doing on a thread which was clearly intended to find fault with the current government?

I was not finding fault with the Government!

The thread is about prisons, prisoners and early release due to overcrowding and the need to incarcerate the August rioters.

The rioters were processed extremely quickly, whilst another high profile case is taking considerably longer, and the perpetrators are walking free.

I wasn’t aware that it shouldn’t be mentioned?

I have posted numerous times that I do not want the current Government to fail, as if it fails the U.K. fails and thousands of citizens will suffer.

It was actually mentioned on a thread about the fast sentencing and imprisonment of the rioters a few weeks ago. A full explanation was given there. You must have missed it.
It seemed as though something was being stirred when it was brought up again.

MaizieD stirring wasn’t my intention, I have missed a fair few threads lately, life is taking priority and rightly so.

(I am only in here so much today due to being in the kitchen cooking chutney and various other food stuffs for Christmas along with roast dinner for five 🤷‍♀️)

Only ONE still not brought back into custody (as of 3 days ago).

Maybe all back by now.

Just saying.

Given the desperate state of all branches of our criminal justice system, I suppose it’s nothing short of a miracle relatively few mistakes were made. Yes of course I recognise the dreadful sexual assault and impact of that
