In two days time it will be the anniversary of the Israeli massacre where around 1200 people were murdered and around 300 people were taken hostage.
Today there is a big pro Palestine march him London. Would it have been more respectful and appropriate to have waited till next week or later in the month for this march to take place, especially since the first bombing of Gaza started on 13/10/23 and Israeli troops first entered Gaza on 27/10/23.

Hamas will go on. The more killing in Palestine the more people will join Hamas and the more innocents will die.
What happened in Israel was a sickening atrocity but the retribution has gone too far. Our own government don't condone it.

Anniebach Wed 16-Oct-24 15:08:21

Retribution or defence of country ? I believe the latter .

No country should stand against terrorism ?

The USA has voiced concerns about some of the bombing in Beruit, its in the BBC newsfeed: there is also an interview with a Christian Lebanese citizen saying that some of the attacks are pushing people into the arms of Hezbollah: its all very, very difficult and I try to look at the different POV.

My DD was tutoring a Palestinian boy online. He wanted to get his A levels. He told her he was tired as the IDF hammered on their and their neighbours' doors every night and constantly harassed them even though they had nothing to do with Hamas. A few weeks later he told my DD he was sick of the IDF and he and his friends were going to join the "freedom fighters".
More and more will be recruited.

'Terrorism' has been perpetrated on the Palestinians since 1948- a portion of their land taken to give to others, illegally.

As this was not bad enough, this has continued, on and on and on some more. More and more land forcibly taken, by force, by the vilest of means, and a vile system of Apartheid imposed on Palestinians.

Should a country, a people, not stand against this?

Israeli soldiers knock on doors every night ?

What a shame the USA (and others) showed no concern about the missiles that Hezbollah have been firing into Israel since 08/10/23 (that’s the day after the Hamas massacre of 1200 Israelis, for those who may have forgotten.)

Hezbollah use the same tactics as Hamas. They hide their weapons that fire rockets into Israel under civilian buildings, including residential buildings. This has been widely publicised and so no one can pretend that they don’t know.

Israel is a tiny country, surrounded by enemies who would wipe it off the map. It has been fighting for its existence since 1948. This fact seems to be brushed under the carpet by many people, hence we have marches carrying vile placards proclaiming support for Hezbollah on the streets of our capital city.

Anniebach IDF soldiers have not entered Gaza since 2006 until the recent war. Maybe the boy lived in Palestine, but having read recently the book ‘Son of Hamas’ I think it unlikely.

Fleurpepper Wed 16-Oct-24 18:40:13

maddyfour Israel has been expanding constantly since 1948- taking more and more land from the Palestinians and in the most cruel and dehumanising of ways. But you just refuse to see that.

Knocking on doors, what rubbish , but people are taken in by hamas propaganda all the time, especially on forums.

Fleurpepper Wed 16-Oct-24 18:48:21

And some people are taken by Netanyahu's propaganda all the time. Thank goodness, not any of my Jewiish friends, and not 1000s of Jews all over the world, who are totally appalled by all the deaths of innocents perpetrated 'in their name'.

AGAA4 Wed 16-Oct-24 18:52:18

Obviously some of you were there so know what goes on. This was from a Palestinian student who had no reason to lie. You will always side with Israel whatever they do. I am willing to listen to all sides and support none.
Supporting killing is wrong.

Oreo Wed 16-Oct-24 19:00:38

Would you have been so on the fence around 1940 AGAA4 ?
Supporting a democracy like Israel is easy against supporting terrorists like hamas and hezbollah.

AGAA4 Wed 16-Oct-24 19:32:42

You cannot compare other wars with what's going on in the middle east. This area has been a hotbed of tension for many years. I remember a man who had spent time in both Israel and Gaza saying that there were often skirmishes on both sides.
In his own words " they are all as mad as a box of frogs".
The rise of the Nazis was different and Hitler wanted to rule the world so the world was involved.

maddyfour Wed 16-Oct-24 19:46:17

Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis are terrorists.
The world can never support terrorism.
Remember 9/11, the Manchester bombing, 7/7 bombings on the tube/bus, the multitude of knifemen running amok in London, Berlin, and other cities, the use of lorries/vehicles to run down and kill innocent people in Nice, Berlin, London, the gunmen murdering over 100 in Paris, the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris.

And then then the massacre on 07/10/23 in Israel.
No propaganda.
Just facts.

Anniebach Wed 16-Oct-24 19:49:46

I certainly will not say I know the views of 1000’s of Jews all over the world because I do not Fleuroepper .

AGAA4 , Israeli soldiers are in Palestine knocking on doors ,
why ?

Will someone criticising Israel say what the response to the 7th October 2003 slaughter should be please

Fleurpepper Wed 16-Oct-24 19:50:45

You need to look at ALL the facts - since 1948, ALL of them.

AGAA4 Wed 16-Oct-24 19:56:13

BBC news. Women and children in Gaza are being shot in the head and spine by IDF. They say they are acting in a humanitarian way but the evidence is clear. They are killing innocent women and children.
They are all as bad as each other.

Fleurpepper Wed 16-Oct-24 19:58:54

and some burnt alive in refugeee camps.

Since October 7, more than 42 thousand people have died in Gaza

people, not terrorists. FACT.

maddyfour Wed 16-Oct-24 20:19:55

How does the BBC know this?
No journalists are allowed into Gaza, nor have been for the last year, therefore there can be no independent verification of what is claimed.

I watched the Channel 4 documentary about life in Gaza during the last year. Obviously this was not filmed by an independent journalist, but by ordinary people living in Gaza. The situation is desperate re accommodation, medical supplies, and food, although no one is starving. There was no mention of such atrocities by these ordinary citizens of Gaza. They spoke of the desperate struggle to survive, finding food and sometimes finding medications, of being moved from pillar to post in search of a place to stay, of he sadness of leaving their homes, their destroyed, the loss of education and opportunities for a normal life. They spoke of the good life they had in Gaza before the Hamas massacre.

maddyfour Wed 16-Oct-24 20:20:37

Homes that were destroyed

Hamas releases videos, Palestinian medics give interviews these seemed to be independent reports

Annie Hamas filmed themselves murdering Israelis on 07/10/23

There are none so blind as those who WILL not see .There is no nation where everyone is blameless and Israel’s government has very much been to blame for the situation now.Netanyahu is a war criminal and his right wing fascist government could give the nazis a run for their money!! How sad that people who have experienced the Holocaust can visit a situation like this on innocents……you would think there would have been compassion for those displaced by Balfour mess..but no GREED took over and innocent Palestini1ns have suffered for over 60years .I,m out of this thread the bias simply because the perpetrators are Jews. Is sickening…NO OTHER COUNTRY a would getaway with this
