Oh dear the crazy Americans seem to of voted in his favour yet again . A former president now with a criminal background . Could be reelected 50% to Kamala’s 49%
Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

I dont like the man but two things about Trump's policies I do admire:-

Putting your own country first and not being so liberal about supporting third world causes or warlords.

His policy on immigration with mass departations and internments.

Too many tax dollars flowing out of the county or being squandered on aliens who have contributed nothing to the community. I wish we had a government which had the guts to take a similar stance.

Perhaps, you should consider that in his last “reign” Trump was responsible for locking up migrant children (alone, separated from their parents), prevented legitimate migrants from returning into the USA after visiting family in their home Countries, threatened to build a wall around Mexico, and caused insurrection when he lost the election?

Like us, USA relies heavily on migrants from Mexico and South America to undertake lots of domestic and carers roles.

In the UK we still have obligations with many former and current commonwealth countries and along with other countries, will always, and always have, send foreign aid. This doesn’t make us weak!

As for “liberal” causes, personally I support the rights of humans, the disabled, women. Clearly Trump and his supporters don’t, along with healthcare for all.

You must use the words bootlicking instead MT61 otherwise the thread police will be all over you😁

Oreo Wed 06-Nov-24 11:58:01

Tho personally I think Starmer had to do some soft soaping to DT, diplomacy and all that, especially as over a hundred Labour activists went to the US to help KH.

ronib Wed 06-Nov-24 12:02:56

Starmer is completely unsuited to high office.

Cossy Wed 06-Nov-24 12:06:57

The lack of respect shown by some GNs to the rest of us is astounding!

No, I don’t like Trump either as a man, nor do I think he is the best candidate for POTUS, I didn’t like Johnson or Teuss and think they damaged our country by their policies, neither do I agree with everything the LP is currently doing.

However both Trump and Starmer won their posts democratically, albeit it in two flawed political systems.

I respect the right of anyone to support, and debate, any issues they choose.

BUT, for a woman to dictate why and when another woman is “allowed” an abortion is simply laughable and personally insulting anyone on here is simply unacceptable.

I respect all of your views and opinions, and agree you should voice them, but I respectfully will always disagree and state why if I feel it’s warranted!

Just be nice, it doesn’t harm you! We don’t know anyone else’s backstories, think before you insult!

In your opinion. He did ok in other senior “high office” roles.

Starmer is completely unsuited to high office.

You're quite right, others have remarked on it elsewhere too.

So you’re disappointed, tough, get used to it, I was disappointed when the Brexit vote was lost, complaining isn’t going to change anything, move on.

Why?

So?! Just because more than one person says something doesn't mean it's true. That's exactly the kind of thing playground bullies say to justify their opinion.

Little factoid (probably known by many), the Amish came out to vote for the first time ever.
They must have thought it an unusual election to have made such a decision.
They generally hate anything associated with the English world

To be honest Cossy I've just about given up on having any kind of mature and rational debate on GN.

Or, Oreo, they go away for a while and then re-appear under a different username!

The catalyst was raw milk.

Doesnt mean it isnt either.
Opinions you dont share aren't necessarily bullying.
Perhaps you are feeling a little sensitive?
Just an observation.

No! I can't be bothered to change my username (why would I?) It's not worth it. I doubt whether anything will have changed after a week and I've got plenty of other things to keep me busy.

LizzieDrip Wed 06-Nov-24 12:35:29

Apologies growstuff.

Just as good a reason as any other.

It is very expensive here, as I know, we have it delivered from outside of our county, as no farms produce it near by.
A valuable food source imo

Here we go, for what it's worth ...

They get removed inexplicably for some reason, by someone, then they can't get back in again, so they have to find other ways, other names.
It has happened to many lately. I have no idea why?

I for one now certainly prefer to adopt a playful and kind-spirited tone because anything else might cause me suspension or worse. I never make someone feel bad or offend them, never did actually. If that's immature, so be it.

For the above reasons, I am not on this thread and others that are similar.

Mt61 - I have never used the phrase " arse licking" and am astonished that you would regard such as having a place in considered adult debate.
Unfortunately, leaders of countries have to deal with all other leaders, on behalf of their country. It's called diplomacy.
As a Republican, I acknowledge that our monarchs have managed this very well over the years. Perhaps their views, in private, might have been more robust, but their public face did not slip.

I never said you said that, it’s me saying that.

Oldbat1 Wed 06-Nov-24 12:42:11

I just cant believe ANYONE cellebrating the disaster of Trump. He will now be able to cancel himself from being a convicted felon for starters. I really feel sickened.

Mt61 Wed 06-Nov-24 12:45:39

Grow stuff It probably isn’t but thought I better include older women.

Namsnanny Wed 06-Nov-24 12:51:34

Makes you wonder doesn't it Oldbat1?

My thoughts are there must be other sources of information that the voters find convincing.

Or else we are to believe humans split naturally down a fault line into opposites.

Surely that cannot be so, surely we can all have autonomy of thought, and be convinced to change some of our ideas by a calm intelligent debate?

I have seen it happen, but not often

Aveline Wed 06-Nov-24 12:53:21

I feel beyond sickened. There'll be dancing in the Kremlin tonight.
