Oh dear the crazy Americans seem to of voted in his favour yet again . A former president now with a criminal background . Could be reelected 50% to Kamala’s 49%
Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

I feel beyond sickened. There'll be dancing in the Kremlin tonight.

Not sure about that tbh on the face of it you’d think so but if things had been different Putin may have liked having a left wing softie liberal in charge of the US ( his thinking) rather than an unpredictable hawk type.

I just cant believe ANYONE cellebrating the disaster of Trump. He will now be able to cancel himself from being a convicted felon for starters. I really feel sickened.

Memories seem short what Trump was like first time round...rule by tweet at all hours of the night...drinking bleach...attempts to cheat by requesting votes in Georgia, never mind death by insurrection at the Capitol, where he was prepared to throw Pence under a bus because Pence dared to disagree.
He's perfectly capable of repeating his petty jealousies and those crazy thoughts - with more power than ever, the backing of Musk, who controls X.

He doesn't believe in Climate Change - he will be a dictator and they are very dangerous (from whatever political background)
He's not going to touch gun control, his answer to school shootings and even his own attempted assassination means "bring on more guns".

I'm shocked by the morality of Musk spending well over 75 million dollars to help win an election, when people cant get basic medical care.

It is a decisive result for Trump, both in the electoral college and the popular vote, within US democracy.

He promised a concept for healthcare. Obamacare brought healthcare to many, however 8% are uninsured (28m of 335m people). Hopeful.

He promised better wages. Minimum wage of 7.25 - imo, too low.

His policy plans should strengthen the dollar, add to inflation (which is low there), add high tariffs, and increase isolationism.

If he chooses to push his good ideas ....

I question his ability to follow through on his proposals.

Norah Wed 06-Nov-24 13:46:47

It is what it it is - pray American can benefit from a few good policy.

SingingRabbits Wed 06-Nov-24 13:50:09

On the contrary. Trump is said to be the only political leader whom Putin fears. I am very glad Harris lost. She is not what people think she is, neither is Trump what The Woke imagine he is.

I have often wondered about the choices a foetus might make if it could be asked. Do you want a life or is it okay to be destroyed now?
I think for me a lived life suits best.

So it's wrong to abort a foetus, even when the woman's life may be at risk, but okay for that woman to die because she's refused an abortion? Some 'pro-life' view that is...

Farmor15 Wed 06-Nov-24 14:01:42

Anyone in doubt about the consequence of strict anti-abortion laws should read about what happened to Savita Hallappanvar in Ireland. She had a much wanted pregnancy, was miscarrying, but because there was still a foetal heartbeat, medical staff were reluctant to intervene in case of legal consequences.

Little factoid (probably known by many), the Amish came out to vote for the first time ever.
They must have thought it an unusual election to have made such a decision.
They generally hate anything associated with the English world

The catalyst was raw milk.

Just as good a reason as any other.

It is very expensive here, as I know, we have it delivered from outside of our county, as no farms produce it near by.
A valuable food source imo

Oh come on- the Amish can keep their own cows if they wish.

Syracute Wed 06-Nov-24 14:13:47

Trump did not win fair and square . He used proven lies to agitate voters . Trump also had Elon Musk who was LITERALLY buying votes for Trump in Pennysylvania . I could go on but I think the fair and square part will be questioned !

Namsnanny Wed 06-Nov-24 14:14:58

SingingRabbits ... reading about KH family background, plus her connections (Willie Brown) who seemed a dodgy figure, wasnt the best look for her, and not because just because
of the age difference imv.

I thought when Obama gave that finger wagging talk to black gents (I forget exactly when and where) it didn't look as if he had much faith in her really.

JenniferEccles Wed 06-Nov-24 14:17:27

I think Sarah Smith, the BBC’s America correspondent summed it up well when she said “ Voters were presented with two different versions of America - they chose Trump’s “

It’s as simple as that.

Namsnanny Wed 06-Nov-24 14:28:17

Your probably right JenniferEccles the two visions were polar opposites (If you ignore the desperate late attempts to claim KH would put up a wall ect.)

Which probably made things clearer for some to choose.

Why are you talking like this?
Women lost our reproductive rights under Trump ! Trump is a convicted rapist and a convicted felon , he is also an election denier that spuuredbon Jan 6 . I am sure Putin is having a good laugh knowing that Trump is in his pocket !

Wyllow3 Wed 06-Nov-24 14:33:39

Yes, they did choose: it remains to be seen whether the presentation of Trumps version of the US on Social Media and endless TV adverts matches the reality when it arrives.

Maybe I'm shocked by the levels of hatred, lies, and violent speech people can tolerate - and still vote for him. Not to put the voters down - I just cant genuinely understand voting for a leader with such venom and hatred in his campaign.

Babs03 Wed 06-Nov-24 14:40:13

@Wyllow,
Yes Trump certainly was full of venom and even spoke of revenge, and has aligned himself with a man who also likes to put his toxic opinions out there - Musk.
I can’t imagine wanting to vote for someone so full of hate. Reminds me of the rhetoric used by Islamic fundamentalists. They may be different extremes but there is nothing different about the hatred being espoused.

You must use the words bootlicking instead MT61 otherwise the thread police will be all over you😁

Yes. I apologise. Boot licking

foxie48 Wed 06-Nov-24 14:59:31

Sadly the Sarah Smith comment sums it up perfectly. Like many on here I have difficulty understanding why anyone would vote for Trump but perhaps that's because I'm not in the right sector of society. Denigrating people because their experience is different to mine is IMO not only pointless it's also completely unhelpful. I don't think Trump will improve their situation but they've clearly not been helped by the Biden administration either, so why wouldn't they take a punt on Trump? The problem that Kamala faced was not only her gender and colour but she was also too closely linked to an administration that many voters felt had failed them. That's a huge mountain to climb and she was also short on time and talent. The fact that the Republicans control the house and the Senate is also very worrying, the US could be in for a lot of change that could be quite distabilising

LizzieDrip Wed 06-Nov-24 15:01:51

No Oreo. I’ve never changed my name on GN.

MayBee70 Wed 06-Nov-24 15:05:06

Remember what he said about oil, too. Drill, drill drill sad. All we need at this moment in time is a climate change denier.

LizzieDrip Wed 06-Nov-24 15:12:00

Not to mention the well-known anti-vaxer, Robert F. Kennedy, who Trump may be lining up to put in charge of health. Good luck USA!

Nice! Like a lot of people they choose racism, false promises, greed and narrow mindedness.

The full horror of this is sinking in as the day goes on.

Simple enough, still a very rural community, with land and farms- so keeping a few cows for raw milk, either as families or communities, should not be a problem.

theunpredictable hawk type can easily be made into an ally- not the other one (whom you choose to call 'left wing softie liberal). Quite 'simple'.
