He said he was ready to serve. So okay but doesn’t he have a job at the moment? How pleased are his constituents at the moment? How much time does he give them?

Cossy I think it’s completely unacceptable and very disrespectful stupid and unprofessional for Starmer and Lammy to have gone public on their disdain for another country’s leading politician.

Ronib, so do I.

NotSpaghetti Thu 07-Nov-24 14:01:52

Also stupid and unprofessional for Badenoch to raise it again!
grin

Don't poke the bear maybe?

Wyllow3 Thu 07-Nov-24 14:04:30

The remarks Lammy made were over 7 years ago, as has been discussed and made clear on the Badenoch first PMQ thread.

Subsequently as said several times just above in this thread, a suitable political relationship has been established and as I quoted by Eldridge Colby above.

If we held Trump to remarks he made 7 years ago....well the mind boggles!

Ronib, BevSec

Actually I agree, it was disrespectful, but I think this about Johnson too.

You two only appear to think anything Starmer and his govt do is “stupid and disrespectful”

Did you miss all the very stupid things Johnson did and said? The things Farage has says?

How can you think it’s ok for Badenoch to bring it up again in this parliament?

Funny how awful us “liberal lefties” are accused of “worshipping Starmer” and never holding those we support to account, nothing could be further from the truth in reality.

Don’t be silly! It’s only “liberal lefties” who say and do “disrespectful, stupid, unprofessional and unacceptable” things!

Trump’s own VP, Vance, said that he (Trump) would be “America’s next Hitler”.

Trump still chose him as VP🤷‍♀️

Just like to point out that thankfully Boris Johnson is no longer pm or foreign secretary. However the current holders of those posts represent this country here and abroad. I don’t think that because BJ failed, we should automatically accept substandard political figure well into the future.

Did you accept it when David Cameron said very similar things as PM ronib?

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 17:02:43

Casdon my memory doesn’t stretch back that far. As a simple rule bad mouthing other foreign leaders can be foolish.
I noticed that Labour has refused Farage’s offer to help negotiate a trade deal with Trump. Another mistake by Labour imo.

Déjà vu.
He wrote much more in his memoirs too - I’m surprised you don’t remember, as it came back to haunt him in April this year, so it’s not long ago at all.

I won’t say what I think about Farage’s offer - where I’d tell him to stick it is not for those of a delicate constitution.

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 17:16:31

Casdon this country needs all the help it can get. Let’s see what great deal Labour strikes with Trump.

Casdon Thu 07-Nov-24 17:20:54

This country does not need any help from Nigel Farage ronib, he’s a wrecker not a conciliator. Trump though is a user, he wouldn’t give Farage his fake tan unless it was in his own interest to do so - not that anybody in the UK would be dumb enough to buy such a poor product, of course.

HousePlantQueen Thu 07-Nov-24 17:23:30

Nigel Farage is in exactly the right place at the right moment. The Uk desperately needs someone to improve Uk/USA diplomatic relationships - Lammy and Starmer having failed at the first hurdle.

Well done Nigel and you deserve a good gloat!
Trumpism is very similar to the Reform agenda which I very much hope will become mainstream in the UK.

I would say that this comment shows how little one understands the implications of a Trump win, and how poor a judge of character anyone is who thinks that Farage is anything other than a self serving grifter with no thought at all for the mugs people who elected him.....but I won't because you will be petty enough to report me! So.....can I just say I disagree with everything you have just posted? wink

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 17:33:31

Okay let’s see how Starmer sorts a trade deal with the USA. I am not hopeful.

Casdon Thu 07-Nov-24 17:39:55

It will be the same trade deal as it would be if a Tory Government, or, Heaven help us, Farage negotiated it ronib. Trump is not interested in compromise, he will be all about promoting the interests of the USA. We import about £20bn more a year from there than we export, that is our small fry bargaining chip as far as they are concerned.

I think anyone who voted and supports KS is a poor judge of character but normally would keep my opinions to myself!

I don’t keep my opinions to myself, and neither do you on many subjects BevSec. There’s nothing wrong with that at all, but don’t expect people to be surprised when you say things you’ve said many times before, that’s both the joy and the downside of being a regular poster - it’s like a complex ballet of words and opinions.

I would not call anyone on here a poor judge of character because they have a different opinion, attacks like that are never justified under any circumstances.

Casdon Thu 07-Nov-24 18:31:01

But clearly you just did, when you said you thought ‘anyone who votes and supports KS is a poor judge of character’? It’s clear who you mean, so how is that not an attack? I’m not saying it bothers me if it is, just be honest about it.

BevSec Thu 07-Nov-24 18:38:09

My whole point is that houseplantqueen made the remark about being a poor judge of character to support NF, and I support him so obviously that makes me a poor judge of character, which in my opinion is not a comment that anyone on here should make. My comment back was meant to illuminate how unpleasant it feels to have that said about those who support KS.

I appreciate that BevSec, but responding by saying the same thing back negates the argument, doesn’t it?

Cambia Sat 09-Nov-24 12:03:00

Can mps just bu**er off from work when it suits them then? Can we get a refund for the days he isn’t here to work? I am so fed up of four day weeks and people not doing any work but being paid. No wonder our country is going down the pan so fast.
