The world’s most successful business man wants to support Reform. The Tories and Labour will be bricking it.

Wyllow3 Fri 20-Dec-24 13:06:50

What is overall "Real Change"? It would appear you clearly are talking about some kind of seismic shift in how out government works and years of policy being upended, and I cant see that vision.

(saying you want more money in your purse hardly hacks it)

I know I'm being quite pushy, but the claims you make are very large indeed and to make them without substance just feels empty words)

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Dec-24 13:14:46

Sorry. I know it must be infuriating dealing with me Wyllow. I’m childminding too at the moment!!

“Grandma why doesn’t Cinderella play ⚽️?
Because she runs away from the ball”

Reform really do have lots of good ideas. Ben Habib inspires me whenever he is interviewed. As and when I can I’ll add some in. I have t got time today to write in greater detail. Bear with.

Wyllow3 Fri 20-Dec-24 13:18:12

More intrigued, really, about these Great (Patriotic) Changes that will apparently deal with all the items on your list 🙂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Dec-24 13:24:10

Some of them concern the housing of irregular migrants …
And how to deal with the situation going forward.

And leaving the ECHR.

ronib Fri 20-Dec-24 13:38:32

FGT2 you are probably busy so have not noticed that Ben Habib has resigned from Reform. I don’t know why. Seems like there’s some jockeying for power?
Let’s remember that in 2024 we had a massively disillusioned /disengaged electorate and I don’t think Reform will necessarily pick up the slack. It might take more than 100 million dollars to fix perceptions?

Imo leaving the ECHR is lemming like. Why take away something that protects all of us not just those despised furriners that some people are so paranoid about confused. That’s just what Musk et al would like: a country full of people with no way of stopping them from doing anything they like. Let’s get rid of trade unions while we’re at it, too, shall we, who obviously just exist to push wages up; nothing to do with working conditions, health and safety etc.

Ohhowwelaughed Fri 20-Dec-24 15:04:39

Why would it be a problem leaving the ECHR though?
I have travelled to Moscow ( before the war started.) all over Asia and South America and never once worried that these countries were not in the ECHR.

We have our own rights laws and if an authoritarian government took over do you think they would take any notice of a court in Strasbourg?

So, Reform will bring 'change', but change is not always for the better. What positive change will Farage and co bring to the NHS? I don't want the system that operates in the USA, where my friends with CANCER would soon be bankrupt. Does anyone on here wish for that? Reform voters, can you take the time to inform us about your party's policy on the NHS?
Or does it not exist?

People are influenced by propaganda, whether they realise it or not. Some people challenge what they hear or are told, but some don't

And some people are just sick and tired of what they see in front of their eyes as they walk around their towns and cities. And yes see on all tv channels (so no bias). Many of us truly want Change. Some hoped Starmer would supply it. Some didn’t vote for him because they had a gut feeling he wouldn’t be able to supply it.

Many of our institutions are swollen yet broken. The old boy network stymies Change.

Many who voted Reform (me for one) want real Change. A new broom to sweep clean if you will. Brush out all the deadwood instead of throwing more money at it. “Drain the Swamp” as Trump called it. Any why not?

Our services aren’t working, the NHS is, according to Wes Streeting (of whom I had higher hopes) who said it’s actually broken, the Civil Service seems full of “Yes Ministers”, Starmer is knocking on the EU door just because HE (who wanted that 2nd referendum) thinks it’s a good idea (clue: it’s not, they have better negotiators and will take him to the cleaners for sure) and we are about to go into recession thanks to Reeves policies. Water, rail and energy are expensive and in a mess. Councils spend money unwisely then cry “we’re bankrupt” and raise their demands.

Prisons are full.
Irregular migrants are in our hotels at our expense.
The Police can’t cope (thanks Theresa May the worst Home Secretary we have ever had for hollowing that service out in the good name of austerity).
The judiciary has a huge backlog waiting for Court sittings (yet what’s the point there’s no prison spaces m’Lud).
Knife crime 🔼
Stabbings 🔼
Shoplifting by organised gangs in town centres 🔼🔼
Potholes aren’t filled
There are enough Cass report has been ignored (shamefully) by some institutions
There are enough dentists (unless you happen to have arrived on our shores in a rubber boat).
We just don’t feel we are being listened to any more!

Blimey. And that’s just SOME of the mess citizens of the UK can SEE for themselves.

Vote Reform if you want Real Change. It’s the only way now it’s gonna happen. Patriotic feelings are not unlawful. We ought not to be shy of saying we want better for our country.

I totally agree FGT but you have put it so much better than I could, thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you, I agree too 👏👏👏👏

“Reform voters, can you take the time to inform us about your party's policy on the NHS?”

Maremia good luck with that!

I’ve posed that question several times on GN and, essentially, either been ignored or told ‘Google is your friend’.

No-one seems to want to tell us exactly what ‘miraculous’ changes Reform UK PLC will make🤷‍♀️

Reform have plenty of time to work on their policies

Labour had over 14 years to work on theirs and look what a pigs ear they’ve made of that …🤨

I don't vote for reform but they have said they will look at the French model of healthcare.

How much more details can they give? They do not have access to the civil service to ask for reports etc.

Labour did not give details what they would do 4 years before the election so why would you expect this from a minor party?

I will not vote for a party until they say they will restructure the civil service as they can direct the ministers the way they want by saying that it's not possible.

How is it when ministers wanted the civil service back in the office but they refused.. who is running the show?

Jeanathome Fri 20-Dec-24 17:59:08

I am very politely ( because this is absolutely paramount here)

saying I have reported this to the mods.

There are enough dentists (unless you happen to have arrived on our shores in a rubber boat)

Shinamae Fri 20-Dec-24 19:15:49

The evidence is in front of everybody's eyes.

Well, its certainly in front of yours 😂

MayBee70 Fri 20-Dec-24 20:29:22

What is strange is the way that so many people think that Reform are a ‘new’ party and are just forming their political aims when they’re just a party that changes it’s name a lot.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Dec-24 20:41:43

Well thank you Jeanathome for your honesty.
It was me wot said it.
And lack of NHS is backed up statistically (please check, I am right).
So what I meant, perhaps badly expressed, is that UK residents really are struggling to access NHS dentists although newly arrived on our shores ARE provided with them. Quite honestly I cannot understand why you would report my post?
It’s factual.
Even though you may not like it.
Ought I to report my post here. … to explain? Before I get a bad mark against my name?
😱

Wyllow3 Fri 20-Dec-24 20:47:11

Thank you Jeanathome, appropriate.

FGT set out very competent "manifesto" of "Everything thats wrong" and promised

Vote Reform if you want Real Change. It’s the only way now it’s gonna happen. Patriotic feelings are not unlawful

We are taking about some kind of ideological fundamental change in our mode of government here by announcing this. It's not a matter of little policy details on "this or that".

What some of us are asking for is NOT a complete manifesto of these details, or being fed this or that snippet, an equally competent reply

some honesty about what these patriotic feelings and Real Change means the broad sense.

I'm terribly confused.

There may be dentists but few of them are NHS dentists.
Children are being hospitalised because their teeth are rotting. There are queues hundreds of yards long (I exaggerate not) if an NHS dentist open up.

An HC2 certificate entitles asylum seekers to NHS dental care - but are there any NHS dentists?

What are the facts?

Casdon Fri 20-Dec-24 21:21:19

www.gov.uk/guidance/dental-health-migrant-health-guide
Asylum seekers are entitled to free dental care, the same as anybody else who meets the NHS criteria for free dental care.
A charity provides a mobile van which visits hostels.
www.dentaid.org/refugees-and-asylum-seekers/
They don’t get preferential NHS dental treatment.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Dec-24 21:25:44

I didn’t say they did Casdon.
No charity with a mobile service available for UK taxpayers though who cannot get hold of an NHS dentist for love nor money.
Have you seen the queues snaking round the block if news gets out one is opening?

Allira Fri 20-Dec-24 21:26:07

They don’t get preferential NHS dental treatment.

Is there a charity providing British children with dental treatment, I wonder?

Dental services in the UK are in a truly dire strait.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Dec-24 21:28:36

Hello?
What about the taxpayers then and their children? Anyone?

Silly me.
