No, I don't think Trump was ever in MLK's dream of a better world...
Agree 100% ..
There is still so much hatred, racism and gun violence in The Usa ..
Today it’s Memorial Day for MLK in the US overshadowed by the TRUMP Inauguration … wonder what he would think of US politics …

“We had our first glimpse of Melania Trump’s Inauguration look as she arrived for an early morning church service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, across from the White House, on Monday.
The incoming US First Lady wore a navy tailored coat by US designer Adam Lippes under which a crisp white shawl collar could be glimpsed at the neckline. Her navy boater-style hat by Eric Javits featured a white band, and the look was completed by ultra-high navy suede court shoes and a pair of black leather gloves.
Bare legs aside, it was a look that reflected the weather in Washington DC - a chilly -6 degrees centigrade, which has forced officials to stage the inauguration indoors for the first time since 1985.
It’s a look which bears a likeness to one she wore in 2019 during a state visit to the UK. For a visit to Buckingham Palace to meet the late Queen, she wore a white Dolce & Gabbana dress with a white boater-style hat by her stylist Herve Pierre, trimmed with a black ribbon.
In fact, it’s a look which bears similarities with the British royal style playbook. A tailored coat, elegant millinery and sky-high courts are a failsafe fashion formula for the Princess of Wales, Duchess of Edinburgh et al. For a ceremonial occasion such as this, it’s a reliable one from which to borrow.”
In the English and Spanish El Pais Newspaper, it stated she wore clear pantyhose. Not bare legged.
I think she is extraordinarily elegant .. And of course has the figure and looks.
I thought Melanias outfit was like an air hostess uniform but it was smart
? Inauguration Day. Whatever next.
What is this obsession with Melania's outfit? We have had no comments on what the men were wearing.
She is now the first lady and not a clothes horse.
Yes wealthy women might make statements and send signals through what they wear, but I just wish she would speak out more unless she's happy to take the money. No evidence of her being otherwise- she looks constantly miserable but is far from being a powerless victim.

?? Sorry don’t understand your comment
Well, I thought that military choir absolutely murdered the Battle Hymn of the Republic, but I’m no fan of descants anyway (and probably a Philistine to boot!)

Trump is doing what he feels is best for America.
It’s now up to Starmer and Lammy to do their best for us.
The trouble is, there is no agreement as to what is best for the UK, the tories say its when we have lots of billionaires and less well off people.
Labour say its best when all people, especially those less well off, have access to public services such as the NHS

So he says.
Show the full move then! No way is that a Nazi Salute.

Plus a still shot plus a group of US far right on a march.

Well, I’ve read a bit about Donald’s suit.
The usual blue sort he wears apparently, they don’t seem to know where he gets them from, but think he hopefully supports some American manufacturer.
More was said about his choice of tie, red and blue I think, but I didn’t really notice.
DT usually looks quite smart.

And Trump answers to gun violence is to get more, and he has just signed away laws on diversity which of course were initially brought in to give women and people of colour a fair chance.
Pete Hegseth, Trump’s Defense pick, says allowing gay troops to serve openly reflects a Marxist agenda. (dec 24). Yes, turning back time - it was only under Obama that gay people could openly serve in the military. (info/quote CNN)
I realise some are glad for the clarity on gender but Trumps administration is showing the lot out.
Although our tv news channels in Canada were full of non-stop coverage, I didn't watch any of it.
One of his orders [among many] which troubles me most is his sweeping pardon of all the criminals who invaded their Capitol and caused the death of and injury of police.
What a nasty and narcissistic man!!
Buckle up !! It's going to be a bumpy ride..... I just hope the rest of the world will be able to survive his term!!

Trump is doing what he feels is best for Trump.
It was a wonderful Inaugural day. So uplifting. Finally, a strong leader again.
Trump has just suspended all foreign aid for the next 90 days.
"Consequently, Trump declared that “no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States.”
Trying to bypass Congress again I see.
It is being reported that the people who helped get the J6 criminals convicted are now scared for their lives since Trump pardoned them all and sent them home last night.
Over on META apps Facebook and Instagram, many users reported their accounts suddenly started following Trump and Vance automatically after the inauguration. The hastags #democrats and #freepalestine have been blocked from use.
Zuckerberg has said it was a "glitch" and is being fixed.
Trump did not divest from any of his business dealings before taking office. He continues to make money off of the unregulated Bitcoin he released this weekend. He has already started holding all Republican events at Trump hotels.
It is a huge conflict of interest. The bitcoin is suspected of being for money laundering from other countries.

The Tories have never denied money nor services to the less well off and I’m sure you know this spabbygirl?
In fact, I read somewhere …
“Some see business as a predatory tiger to be shot, others as a fat cow to be milked.
Very few see it for what it is; the strong horse that pulls the whole wagon"

... and that, as you've so succinctly pointed out, is the problem - and has been for decades now.
Further, since the interests of one demographic will conflict with those of another, it would seem there's no chance of agreement either.
In my (simplistic) view there are two options for a successful economy.
If that relies on its workforce, because the wealth-creators do actually need a workforce, then you either invest in the nation's people by providing a well-funded welfare and education system - if you believe a nation's prosperity rests on a healthy and happy workforce - along with robust competitive Capitalism; or you subdue them into penury and labour where the winner takes all, and the devil picks up the hindmost.
And, since I've read so many comments like, "well, life's not fair" - suggesting that's the way they think it is, should be, and will always be, where often individualism - and greed - is championed, then I think we're heading down the latter course. I think the fabric of society has been disintegrating for decades, and will continue to fall apart because of all divisions.
I don't envy any party attempting to unite or decide "what is best for the UK".
He had started the purge of the military.
Coast Guard was first. The first woman ro runnthe Coast Guard has been fired.
"Fox News first reported Fagan’s termination, citing issues with recruitment, operations concerns and a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion as the reasons for her relief"
