I just think that people who are like me, not particularly technically minded, want reassurance that their passwords, Apple wallet, emails and family photos remain protected. That’s all that would concern me.

You are protected for all these, people Woodenspoon. I'm an Apple user as well and normal levels of protection are very high and always have been a step ahead.

This is the same woman who thinks Amazon should stop selling knives or they should be blunted rather than addressing the underlying problem.

Also worth mentioning - if Apple removed these current normal high levels of protection in the UK their sales would plummet - as thats one of the reasons lots of us buy Apple.

Apparently very few users use Advanced Data Protection. It’s actually risky for normal users to use it, not that they can now. There is a very good chance of keys being lost and losing access to all data. But of course the point is that we should have the choice.

The question is why would anyone be interested in your family photos and emails? Are you running illegal operations? Transporting drugs? encouraging terrorists?

What has higher priority protecting your family photos and emails or cracking down on paedophile rings and rescuing abused children or stopping immigrants being brought to this country in small boats?

I do not have a single Zombie knife in my hous, nor does anyone else I know. The knives these people are buying are not ordinary kitchen knives, they are knives special designed and serrated to cause maximumdamage to human bodies.

There is a line I think between free speech, and planning and committing criminal acts. I assume the intention is to stop the latter - eg making, distributing, purchasing or watching banned images. planning people smuggling, acts of terrorism etc.

Labour has not cancelled elections. Some county councils are postponing elections for twelve months because they have chosen to merge areas so elections being held in May would be pointless and further elections would have to be held when the changes are complete, postponing is not cancelling. The councils themselves decided whether to apply to postpone elections, most of them are Tory and Lib Dem controlled I believe one is Labour controlled.

Nobody has been imprisoned for an opinion on social media, those who did go to prison after the shameful riots did so because the content of their message was racist and encouraged violence towards the police and minority groups.

This claim of the loss of free speech in Europe that is coming from across the Atlantic mainly from Vance is ridiculous when you consider one news agency has been go barred from the White House conferences for speaking out against Trump and Trump has banned the use of the word ‘felon’, anybody who does will be sacked.
