- without warning, in the middle of the night- in the middle of Ramadan.

NOTHING.

Aveline Mon 24-Mar-25 17:51:03

Meanwhile thousands more Palestinians will die.

Anniebach Mon 24-Mar-25 17:54:27

What can be done ?

Maremia Mon 24-Mar-25 19:06:58

If they are still at war, he will say they can't have elections. He is gaming it to remain in power, so he can't be prosecuted.
Thank you for the correction about the film.

Anniebach Mon 24-Mar-25 19:26:31

Surely there can be a vote to call for the election next year?

MayBee70 Mon 24-Mar-25 19:28:52

If Hamas release all of the hostages imo Netanyahu will blitz Gaza.

Anniebach Mon 24-Mar-25 19:41:43

And if they are not released ?

Oreo Mon 24-Mar-25 19:47:52

Well, it’s already fairly blitzed.Tbf we don’t know what will happen, hamas will try and drag things out as long as possible tho you can be sure of that.
Up to Israel what they do about it in that case.

AGAA4 Mon 24-Mar-25 19:49:47

If the hostages are not released then the carnage will just go on. If they are released it will all be over quicker.
Netanyahu wants to rid Gaza of Palestinians with Trump's blessing.

Oreo Mon 24-Mar-25 19:59:21

I think Trump has lost interest in Gaza now that a deal between Ukraine and Russia isn’t proving as easy peasy as he thought.

valdavi Mon 24-Mar-25 20:00:44

Yes that's what Netanyahu wants. If Gaza was part of Israel it would be called ethnic cleansing. But Gaza is Palestinian territory. Not that Trump knows or cares.

Anniebach Mon 24-Mar-25 20:06:21

I don’t think Trump is of any importance in it , he only came to power January 2025,.

AGAA4 Mon 24-Mar-25 20:13:30

The USA back Israel so of course they're important.

Anniebach Tue 25-Mar-25 08:32:22

Yes the USA, we didn’t have several threads on the go on Biden

Anniebach

Trump is very much more volatile than Biden and causing unrest in many other countries.
The latest problem they've caused is inadvertently allowing a journalist into a top secret meeting about an attack on the Houthis. Vance was the most senior at the meeting as well as Hesgarth.
So the US are attacking in the Houthis in the Yemen.

Anniebach Tue 25-Mar-25 09:02:58

Yes I heard on the news a few minutes ago, thank you

ronib Tue 25-Mar-25 09:24:02

And we know that the Houthis are attacking ships so not some random US assault?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Mar-25 09:28:29

Houthi’s (who are a terrorist organisation) began attacking shipping soon after the atrocities of 7/10/2023 and have continued to do so, this makes them a legitimate target.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Mar-25 09:29:19

Houthi’s are funded by Iran.

AGAA4 Tue 25-Mar-25 10:04:37

What was said in the meeting (BBC) was that the US want to open the shipping lanes and charge the freeloaders meaning Europe for doing it.

AGAA4

What was said in the meeting (BBC) was that the US want to open the shipping lanes and charge the freeloaders meaning Europe for doing it.

I do not agree with the language used, but they have a point.

If the west is relying on the USA to police these shipping lanes and keep them safe for all to use, then it is right that all contribute either financially or militarily…

AGAA4 Tue 25-Mar-25 10:20:26

GG13 I agree but it shows how unfriendly the US are to Europe now.
We have to pay our way.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Mar-25 10:28:11

But surely in that case it should have been internationally discussed, not a secret mission by US only? I don't understand how are Europe "freeloaders? Are only the US paying?

foxie48 Tue 25-Mar-25 10:50:09

Well it wasn't kept very secret, the channel they were using could have easily been intercepted and they accidentally included a journalist in the group. Honestly, what incompetence!

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Mar-25 11:06:27

Not just incompetence, but so very revealing - so much for secret - the worlds eyes are on the area and any actions taken by US.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 25-Mar-25 11:12:20

Trump has managed to nudge Europe into doing the right thing. Not before time. Some countries in the EU were definitely taking America for a ride.
