Or is it too awful to contemplate?

Not deliberate silence WWM2, just stunned by the enormity of it all.

This. What has happened to the world? sad angry

Wyllow3 Thu 10-Apr-25 14:42:07

Probably has happened before, but now communications are so sophisticated that we know now.

Sometimes it takes one story to grip people's attention. I thought this would have happened when that wee girl calling for help from the car, and then the First Aiders going out to help, and all being killed, I thought that one would do it. Maybe this one.

Maremia Thu 10-Apr-25 17:29:07

That, and the two Labour politicians being sent home.

The situation is made much worse because Trump so openly supports Netanyahu and presumably Starmer doesn't want to risk opposing Trump.. It's all so dishonest and violating Human Rights but Western Governments are much more concerned with economics..

It's not necessary to be 'religious' to agree servicing an evil industry is an evil thing we do.

Pascal, I believe evil can't endure and a turning point is imminent.

Maremia the little girl you mention is, or was, called Hind and was 5 years old. Truly Shocking, but sadly forgotten, other than by her family. Another innocent victim of a one sided war.

Thanks silverlining48, Hind. Won't forget her name again.

It is astonishing how events like this have no consequence.

I wonder how many other lies the Israelis have told. I was appalled when I saw the ambulances with lights blazing being shot at by the IDF. They then said there were no lights on. They are just killers. Nobody is exempt.

Too many to count probably AGA but we'll never know angry.

The daughter of a close Israeli friend began her military service last week. She is 18. Military service is not optional.

I would in no way defend the lies and the covering up, but would ask you to remember that many Israeli soldiers are scared teenagers.

I wonder how their mental health will suffer as they get older and understand the atrocities being carried out by their compatriots.

It is such a heavy burden.

My sympathies for her. No one would condemn her. It's the people giving orders decide isnt it.

There are conscientious objectors, but not dealt with well.

I don’t feel it is a coincidence that Israel has a very well developed and funded mental health support system with many therapy disciplines. In fact the entire health system is astonishing.

Thich Nhat Hahn used to run retreats in Plum Village France with both Israeli and Palestinians.. It is indeed a heavy burden to carry and I think have to become desensitised to their actions because they are following orders..
On the retreats they were kept separate for the first few days but when they interacted they began to change their beliefs and began to really see each other.. it was apparently quite transformational but that was before this war and with a small number of people.. It did show that it could be possible to live together in peace and understanding though//

I have often wondered about that too. The idf are conscripts, they are young, yet numbers have done terrible things.,will this come back to haunt them? Who knows. ?
We all know from history that people conform to the majority behaviour. Of not wanting to be different, not to ‘rock the boat’.
I like the sound of those retreats pascal.

It is truly terrible that it appears nothing much is being done about the demonic behaviour of the IDF. Why is the world not expressing outrage at what is obviously the intention of Israel to kill as many Palestinians as they possibly can and to drive them out of Gaza?

Has anyone got any ideas as to what ordinary people in the UK and around the world can do to support Palestinian people?

Wyllow3 Sun 13-Apr-25 00:38:21

You can give money to Red Crescent.

Oxfam have ideas

Are woman ordering these blatant murders or is it just men?
