Really Oreo, what evidence do you have to support your post @ 12.08?
It’s been a while so I will start us off…….whats for supper and why?
Good Morning Wednesday 6th May 2026
"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.
The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.
“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”
The plan would be implemented after US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East next week to “provide a window of opportunity” for a hostage deal, the official added
"The plan then, is to displace Gaza’s entire population to the south of the enclave, following which the total the blockade of humanitarian aid may be lifted, the official said, adding that the military “will remain in every area it captures.”"

So what do the British public think of the conflict?
IPSOS did a poll in October 2024, cant find anything more recent...... it doesn't include the recent policy of no aid.
"Both the Israeli Government and Hamas are held responsible for the current conflict in Israel and Gaza
3 in 5 of the UK public (60%) say Israel’s military action in Gaza as part of its conflict with Hamas has gone too far"

There may be no support on GN for hamas tho as nobody dare declare it we will never know, but there is plenty of support for them from certain sections of society in just about every country.
As there seems to be for the actions of the Israeli government.
Smileless2012
Discussions need to include the continuation of providing military aid to Israel Wyllow. What's the point of talking about humanitarian aid if there's not going to be anyone left alive?
What history (is) repeating Annie?
Well, I agree Smileless2012 and I suspect it will be talked about, because withdrawal of aid is part of the plan and you can't talk about one without the other, but not announced in advance.
Indeed AGAA4 I have never said otherwise but was answering another post.
Something may come of the latest negotiations as I think hamas now realise they’re on a losing streak.
I certainly hope so Oreo
If Israel had not broken the 3 stage peace agreement in March, we would not be having this conversation.
You are quite right WWM. I posted the same recently but no one commented. Had Israel kept to the agreement they signed, thousands more lives may have been saved.
I have very serious concerns about the US aid agency set up to give aid, it's called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
I believe it's a tool born out of US policy in the region as its plans are in line with a ghetto like structure of living and getting aid. Its "security" is private military (mercenary) contractors.
"The UN’s humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher, was scathing in his assessment to the UN Security Council this week.
“It restricts aid to only one part of Gaza, while leaving other dire needs unmet,” he said. “It makes aid conditional on political and military aims. It makes starvation a bargaining chip. It is cynical sideshow. A deliberate distraction. A fig leaf for further violence and displacement".
Yet another request by me to read a full article because it really is very complicated (where's the money coming from, unanswered).
worth a read imo becuase is this the future ahead for Gaza?

I fear that the young Palestinian children are learning how to hate, and this war will never really end. I well remember during the Northern Ireland troubles one of my late husbands soldiers was killed and I was one of those inform the family, including an eight year old boy who commented to me that "When I grow up I will go to Ireland and kill all those Irish men that killed my daddy and made my mummy cry" out of the mouths of babes hate continues.
Agreed. any "solutions" should be made in mind in both Palestine and Israel to foster understanding. Just even to try to.
I can recall - I was born in 1951, quite a time after WW2, those who hated Germans with a passion, whoever they were, and those like my parents who said "they are human like us and got caught up in the situation" whilst punishing and rooting out the Nazi leaders.
My uncle POW in Japan, simply could bear to even look at a Japanese person, and honestly given what they had done to him, you would have to be a saint to forgive.
He suffered from nightmares etc for the whole of his life.
Goodness knows what is happening to the young minds in Gaza.
There are peace and reconciliation groups in both Israel and Palestine doing their best.

It's very uphill work but these are genuine organisations and been a work for a long time.

What Jews have to live with.
I was in London when Hirohito was a guest of the Queen. I had no idea at the time why there was so much controversy about the visit.
The Queen was very good at quietly drawing a line under historic grievances and accepting significant players on the world stage on their current merit.
Maybe it's because she didn't have to worry about losing votes? As long as she conducted her role within the constitutional limits & with dignity, she still had our respect.
I think it's also easy to forget the effect this war is having on the young members of the IDF. They are witnessing great suffering in Gaza and will find different ways of dealing with the trauma that they also suffer. I suspect some will deal with it by dehumanising Gazans but many will not and IMO very few will come out of this war unaffected by what they have seen and what they have had to do.
Another 140 palistinians are reported killed by Israeli bombs and bullets since dawn today. With another 5 or 6 hours left there’s still time for more to die.
On Thursday and Friday 250 died, more people whose lives have been taken violently and indiscriminately.
I feel sad, angry and physically sick.
Hamas releases the number of casualties, so the number is
accepted by many but not by all .
Does the accurate number of deaths really matter so much?
There is footage (to be verified) of Israelis marching towards the border with Gaza, demanding the end to the genocide.
See the images and video footage from just the last few hours

Just 2 hours ago Gazan's were warned to move immediately from areas - a tent city - where they had been sent - previously declared "safe" by IDF
FGS Annie what difference does it make if the numbers are correct people are dying isn't that enough?
