Terrible air crash in India/UK

What is the matter with the BBC interviewers😡😡.

Just watched a young man who had probably lost relatives being interviewed and the questions were ridiculous and fatuous.

Unbelievably sad... I flew home from the Middle East only yesterday into Gatwick, so please it wasn't 24hrs later. I particularly like flying on a Dreamliner, such a shame.
The chap who survived, so lucky hope he's not traumatised for surviving the crash, his brother apprently was with him on the flight.
My thoughts are with everyone affected by this terrible accident.

I was thinking the same thing **whitewavemark2 , I think the BBC have been quite ghoulish -reporters at Gatwick - why? Reporters outside the house of the known survivor those family must be in total shock. BBC Verify tracking the crash - to my mind totally unnecessary.

Not just alive but walking out with just scratches.He will be in a bad way trauma wise tho for a long time.

I couldn’t understand why the BBC even sent a newsreader to Gatwick airport for the 6pm news. I realise that the plane had been due to land around then, but of course it didn’t, so why report from there?
Surely they weren’t hoping to speak to some distressed relatives who hadn’t heard about the crash?

A reporter on Sky News had gone to the hospital to speak to the only survivor and said he was asked by the police to leave. I can’t believe how intrusive that was or why they were pleased to get a news report from him.

This is a dreadful tragedy, beyond words.The BBC used to be respected worldwide. Not any more, sadly. Whoever is the person in charge there needs to have a good hard look at themselves.

One BBC reporter was asking the cousin of the sole survivor to tell us how he felt about his miraculous escape. The poor man had to remind him twice that although one of his cousins had survived, another was unaccounted for, and that the family was very distressed.

And in their eagerness to report on the tragedy this morning, a Radio 2 report stated that the plane was heading for Birmingham, which must surely have alarmed people with relatives and friends flying there today.

At my exercise class yesterday afternoon, one lady said she was an air hostess for BA many years ago. They were often asked to work on other airlines but there were 2 that she refused to go on and they were Aeroflot and Air India.

Air India has a good safety record

I flew Air India from Singapore to Australia no complaints. Definitely wouldn't want to go on Aeroflot, I had a friend whose husband worked for Shell and thd family got posted to Moscow for a while, when they flew back to England it was often on Aeroflot, awful apparently, she always swore never again! and I think that airline doesn't have a good safety record.

It will be dreadful if that turns out to be the reason for the crash.

The expert speculation in this case is that the pilot was not using the proper take off flap settings and the airliner just had not got enough lift to stay in the air.
It also took off from part way down the runway and might have not achieved full speed, not having enough runway to abort take off, had to continue with a low speed take off.
On day one of your pilot training you’re told use all the runway, tarmac behind you is useless, pilots do get complacent.

And, predictably, the internet sleuths are appearing on TikTok, with ‘no way was he on that plane’. His ‘sparkling white’ T-shirt gets a mention quite often.

From the aircraft diagram, he was seated next to the emergency exit so very likely was thrown from the plane on impact. A remarkable escape but sadly his brother sitting next to him died.

That poor man - he was evidently asking rescuers to go into the wreck and get his brother. They were travelling together. His feelings now are unimaginable.

I’ve seen some ignorant and discriminatory comments on social media. It’s so sad that when a tragedy like this happens we cannot all express our horror and offer sincere condolences to all affected. May all who perished be at peace, God bless your souls eternally

A terrible tragedy. I heard Simon Caldwell talking about it saying that air travel is statistically by far the safest way to travel and around 500 Indians are killed on their roads every day.

I am so so ashamed of the human race
Social media is full on disbelieving the survivor was on the plane, they are accusing him of being on the ground and somehow detonating it
That poor poor man not only has the awful fallout of being the only survivor but losing his brother to the tragedy but now has this to contend with
