I don't think there is a lot to discuss, but I wanted to say how terribly sad it was that all those people on the way to the UK - UK citizens, families, business people - lost their lives, as well as many injuries and some deaths on the ground where it crashed.

Its unfolding on the BBC I player live feed.

I’ve seen footage of all the charred bodies in grotesque positions. One burned onto his seat.
Makes it even more incredulous that someone survived - when it burst into flames on impact.
All will be revealed in due course I expect.

I've no idea what footage you've seen, the mainstream media is usually more sensitive about the photo's or videos it releases.

Was it necessary to be so graphic?

Is it something with Boeings?
A Boeing bound for Toronto from Paris CDG declared an emergency just 2days ago, and was forced to circle over Normandy to burn off fuel before returning (safely) to CDG

I have no idea, but Air France had another Boeing which had to do exactly the same and return. It was on Sunday, CDG to Shanghai I believe.

And insensitive, IamMaz. You’ve no idea if experiences people here have had. I’m in Manchester where the airport disaster affected so many people. (Fortunately not me but learnings from that fire weee used in our disaster and therapy training)

There have been software issues with the incidents mentioned.

The 787 is a “fly by wire” aircraft as are most others including Airbus, they all us use software.

From an accident cause point-of-view, the accumulation of/ and release of evidence regarding the cause of the Air India 787 crash is pointing in one direction. This article sums up the current state-of-play:
