Israel attack on Iran

This is a serious situation. Netanyahu has gone against advice from the US and has attacked Iran.
Iran will retaliate and Israel has closed down today waiting for the attack.
Although the US has distanced itself from this only warning Iran not to target US bases it's inevitable that they may get pulled into this war.

Thank goodness for that I read them seriously and thought I’d fallen down a rabbit hole, and everyone had gone mad!

What on earth is the matter with us.

Just listen to our posts.

Hobbyist drone flyers! Gamesters!

Those drones etc will kill people like your children and grandchildren.

This will never come to any good. All it will bring is misery and destruction to no end.

Listen to Tony Benns speech against the war in Iraq, everything he said came true.

The UN Charter recognised this futility and was set up to prevent it.

People like Netanyahu who ignore its intentions are fools indeed and no good will ever come of his warmongering.

God I feel sick to my stomach.

The youngsters offiers are so reluctant to train are somebodys son , somebodys daughter.
Just like the so called "boat people"

How do they only kill children and grandchildren? Puzzling

That is not what WWmk2 actually said. She said 'people like your children and grandchildren'. Are these not 'people'?

Of course, they could kill us, too. Blanket attacks on civilians really don't discriminate.

The child card has been used by Hamas from the start of the war, x number of children killed, x number of children malnourished.

From the information I have been given,, this is a new arrival of 12 more tonight.

It looks as if your information I have been given bubble has been busted. 😂

I'm puzzled.

"Twelve F-22 Raptors out of Langley AFB are en route to RAF Lakenheath as #TABOR51 (x4), #TABOR61 (x4), and #TABOR71 (x4), to be deployed to Muwaffaq Salti AB." was reported and tracked on 18th June.

Information is freely available on flight tracking websites.

They are hiding what they want to hide, reinforcements travelling to the regions isn’t unexpected. For the sake of safety it essential they are visible to other aircraft, most aircraft in the UK do carry electronic collision avoidance systems including gliders.

The Iranians must have been watching what is happening in Gaza and must be terrified.

Yet again innocent populations will suffer most to no end.

nanna8 Thu 19-Jun-25 11:01:12

If your PM decides to go to war against Iran in support of America and Israel, which he is stupid enough to do, who would you support ? Just curious.

If Trump gets involved it really is all over for Iran. Another country decimated by Israel.
I wonder which of his hostile neighbours he will go for next.

ronib Thu 19-Jun-25 11:37:32

I am becoming quite irritated to read that apparently no one supports Hamas. The Islamic Republic of Iran has supported Hamas military and financially since the early 1990s. For what reason I don’t know!

So did Netanyahu. In fact without his support they wouldn’t exist.

I was, and pondering that there's no wonder there is conflict in the world.

Israel should have waited for Iran to carry out their threat
‘we will kill all Jews’

No-one here on GN supports Hamas, I thought my post was clear.

Some people here deny the death of babies and children, whole families, in Gaza. This is intolerable.

But it is my post that gets deleted.

I didn't see your deleted post, but I doubt if it was supporting Hamas.

Our PM is not stupid. If he does commit the UK to supporting the US and Israel, there will be a reason. Personally, I doubt if he will offer more than token support.

To answer your question - I would support neither "side". I would support adult negotiation and peace.

ronib Thu 19-Jun-25 13:22:22

Thanks growstuff if it wasn’t so hot and humid, I’d try very hard to follow the details…. It’s a good start though and thank you.

Maremia Thu 19-Jun-25 14:02:14

Ronib, it is my understanding that Iran has supported Hamas, and also Hezbollah and the Houthis.
I believe that not a single GN on this thread, despite the constant accusation of one in particular of the posters, supports Hamas. Why would we?
I see from posts upthread that surprisingly, so also did Netanyahu.
I read online this morning, in an article with a map, that the Chinese have just sent quite a lot of planes to Iran, and so would suggest that they also support that State.
Iran has been sending drones to Russia, for use in their war against Ukraine.
Russia is a nuclear State, can't remember if China is also.
So, it's Israel and their allies, potentially, against Iran and their allies.
Not great for the rest of us.
Hope this helps.
Other GNs will add what they know so far.

Maremia Thu 19-Jun-25 14:06:35

nanna8, if you can get The Guardian online there is an article which may help to answer your question. It is about the legality of supporting Israel.

nanna8 Thu 19-Jun-25 14:36:33

I think it is all happening now. Trump seems to be about to anttack Iran. I fear for the world because there are some very powerful countries who will support them ( Iran )

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Jun-25 14:41:46

I have just sent this to the BBC News desk. The email address is easy to find by googling for a direct email. I'm asking people here to consider this or similar to news outlets?

"“Dear BBC News desk

Re...reporting on Gaza

Gaza is suffering terribly as we all know. There was proper and regular news coverage of the situation and tactful but balanced reporting of the current Israeli regimes' managing the complex hostage and aid situations

But since Israel started attacking Iran, honestly, I have not heard of the Gaza and hostage situation on news broadcasts

May I beg you, on behalf of all of us who care about the starving in Gaza, the situations I outline above, to resume reporting of what is happening in Gaza

It's not my place (nor the BBC's) to speculate whether the invasion of Iran was timed to stop reporting of Gaza

But please, please resume your balanced reporting on Gaza? Please let me know if you can and will do this

I feel the need to get the Gaza and hostage situation back in the news - anyone agree?

AGAA4 Thu 19-Jun-25 14:52:55

Unfortunately this dangerous situation is the focus now. Starmer has asked Trump not to attack Iran for fear of escalation.
I haven't forgotten Gaza but the news is more sketchy on their plight now.

Maremia Thu 19-Jun-25 15:00:58

For any GN still wishing to follow what's happening to the people of Gaza, when you click on your BBC online, look for the heading 'Israel Gaza war/ latest news and updates'.
Click on that. You can then decide if you wish to click, or not, the choice 'follow'.
But as AGAA4 has said, it is not the main focus just now.
