I have no idea why Rachel Reeves was so upset in the commons. Whether it was personal issues or work related is not my business.
But I was disgusted that kemi badenoch used her distress to score political points.

Luckily, I am coming the other way, after 8 weeks abroad, but Rachel Reeves has been responsible for the plummeting exchange rate at the end of my stay. Hopefully it will now pick up for those off on their summer holidays.

I don't have any political allegiance, but I also found Kemi Badenoch's behaviour really distasteful. I think that Rachel Reeves' crying in public was unfortunate, but that no person (male or female) should have sneered at her to her face to take advantage of this. I don't know that any other public figure would want to be seen behaving in such a disgusting, cruel way.

Thankfully Rachel Reeves is a human being. I do wonder if some of the posters on here are.

The BBC need a total clear out of the top management.

Agree. The licence fee should be abandoned and they can advertise like other companies or payments could be made for access if wanted.

I'm sure both the left and right extremists would agree with you Whitewavemark2 and Lovetopaint037. However, by doing that you open up to whichever extreme you don't agree with.

Agree, the BBC is far to liberal in its bias.

I’m sure they are, even those who have suffered under her decisions.

The BBC should have a total clear out of top management?
And replace them with what?
That’s like having a general election where you don’t know what changes will ensue.
Certainly, they’ll never suit everyone.

I think you may be attributing someone else's post to me Mollygo. I'm beginning to feel a little gaslightedconfused I certainly didn't say The BBC should have a total clear out of top management so cannot answer your question about who the author of that comment would replace them with.

Mollygo Fri 11-Jul-25 08:06:23

Don't bother feeling gaslighted on my account, PN.
GN posters aren’t important enough in my life for doing that.

I separated the two parts of the answer and didn’t look up the poster (it was WWM2 ) who said the second part. You obviously can’t answer for WWM2.
However, since the statement wasn’t attributed to anyone, but just a general question, I take it that you don’t agree with WWM2 about a total clear out at the top of the BBC.

Don't you see that telling someone how they should feel is a little odd? I didn't ask for your opinion, just told you how you made me feel.

And no, I didn't agree with that particular suggestion, but then, if you had read my previous posts that would have been obvious.

Mollygo Fri 11-Jul-25 09:54:46

You said you felt . . .
You accused me of gaslighting, and you see no problem with that?confused
You don’t need to feel that on my account, though obviously I can’t tell you not to or stop you if you’re determined to feel that way. grin

Please grow up and stop arguing, all of you!

Yes Miss!
Although telling people what they should do or how they should feel doesn’t go down too well on here!

Crossstitchfan Fri 11-Jul-25 12:16:08

it was tongue it was tongue in cheek, but you’re right, it didn’t look good in print! Sorry.

I think that British English, being a higher context language than say, American English, makes it more difficult for us to communicate on the internet. Text-based communication (like emails, social media, forums) often strips away many contextual cues present in face-to-face interactions, making high-context language traits sometimes harder to interpret.

What’s happened to Rachel Reeves 🤣
