The objective is to eliminate hamas.

Israeli actions encourage radical opposition. They will always find themselves dealing with a “Hamas” whatever the name. Look at Lebanon so many radicalised Palestinians. It will go on and on, until Israel changes its attitude towards those whose right to land is as legitimate as theirs.

There will be a few very right wing who hold those views, most do not.
I won’t be able to convince, nor will I try, those pro Palestinian posters who from day one just about have held anti Israel government views.
I’m not happy with everything Israel does btw and think what the settlers have been allowed to get away with in the West Bank is outrageous.

Hamas is just about over, as is Hezbollah and their bankers Iran have had to take a back seat.
There will always be some insurgents sure, but as a government and a quasi military force hamas is beaten.

So, since Hamas is all but defeated, and Israel has such an array of manpower and munitions and armaments and spy technology and food and water and the army is not starving,
why are they still killing children, who do not even look as if they are of any threat?

Yes, it is beaten, so why doesn't Israel just stop?

What is for sure is that the ideas which inspired Hamas will persist - and will persist for many generations.

No stopping until the hostages, alive and dead are handed back by hamas.

If rescuing the Hostages had been Netanyahu's priority, their release and return could have been achieved ages ago.
Why do I think this?
It is because every time there was an agreed 'return and ceasfire', Israel broke the terms. And this was stated in numerous newscasts.
The Hostage families continue to hold protests in Israel.
Netanyahu went all the way to The White House , ostensibly to arrange a 'return and ceasefire', but what he did instead was to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Refusing to agree to a permanent ceasefire is Netanyahu's trump card because he knows it will keep the war going and not returning all the hostages is Hamas's only card, hence the complete impasse. Hamas has said for months that they would return the hostages if Israel agreed to a permanent ceasefire. There was an IDF soldier on the radio yesterday talking about the soldiers like him who are refusing to fight and some of them who are finding reasons not to fight. He says he's doing it "for the soul of Israel". He's seen too many things that do not sit with his conscience as a soldier.

“Hamas’s only card” , this is defence of terrorists , they have now become seen as victims

FGS Annie of course it's not a defence of terrorists, it's a statement of fact. Nope they have not become victims either, they are a terrorist group that have committed the most terrible acts of murder and rape.

It reads as defence of Hamas, may not be what you meant but
