Could someone remind me, what was Saville's ethnicity?

Afghan mess up
(162 Posts)A real blunders- not by a civil servant - but, according to the DT, a Royal Marine responsible for vetting Afghan applicants. And one it took the MOD 18 months to realise and only then by an email from a concerned individual. The disclosure seems to have been widely shared on social media and the Taliban claim to have seen it too. Lives were put at risk and it was right to invite such Afghans to the UK but the case for secrecy and superinjunction was surely weak given the Takiban had the data.
On this thread Skydancer, we are talking about the Afghan Recruits who saved the lives of many of our own troops in Afghanistan and who were promised to be kept safe. The ones who remain in that sad place are now being hunted down by the Taliban.
We are not 'inviting them in' we are trying to pay our dues.
He was British..
Why not ask google to tell you 'who is the most frequent perpetrator of violence against women?'
Bet you'll never guess the answer.
A wee clue, it is not the Afghans Recruits now living in Britain.
Well I'd guess the answer is men...the Afghan recruits not men then ?
The answer is that the person most likely to harm you is your husband, ex-partner, someone you know.
Please do check it for yourself.
Ok Maremia I take your point but I wouldn't be comfortable with an HMO as a neighbour with 3 or 4 Afghan men living there if I had teenage daughter's and I think a lot of families in the area I live in would agree with me. If that wouldn't bother you all well and good but I'm allowed to have that view. I live in an area with a lot of terraced houses and some are being bought to turn into HMOs. The government are trying to get AS out of the hotels and into this kind of accommodation .
And now we are told that very sensitive information was sent re our secret ops ๐คฌ

Only a fool would agree suggest that they are all interpreters. It was mentioned in the Commons yesterday that we must be very careful which of them we allow in for obvious reasons.
The security service H.O. Etc know exactly who these men are - we recruited, trained and paid them fgs.
This silly โoh my they might be sexual predictorsโ etc is ridiculous and out of all proportion.
These afghans will not be asylum seekers - they will probably be immediately classed as refugees and work, pay tax and contribute to British society, just as they contributed to helping the U.K. when in Afghanistan.
Some people have been watching too much GBNews and reading too much DM. You need to be more selective in your information gathering.

I'd just like to mention that it would have been much, much more than 400+ British soldiers not coming home, if these Afghan recruits had not helped to save all the British Army lives that they did.
We owe them thanks for that, and we owe them the keeping of the promises made.
Not all were kosher to the Armed services. Some had already been refused. Yet here they are. Wonderful!!!!

Yet another shambles, where there does not seem to be any account of how many have entered, how many are genuine claimants, where they are, and if their families are allowed to come too.
This country is being filled up with young men from violent countries, and no track is kept of their whereabouts.Afghan people who worked for us and helped us died and are still at risk now because of a โmistakeโ. And all you can think about are people coming here that shouldnโt be. Words fail meโฆ.
Yes, Maybee I simply could not believe that post you replied to. they risked their lives for us, are clearly anti Taliban, their families may well suffer in revenge.. and....words fail or it would be modded!

Why do you think all their applications were rejected?
For those who don't like links, here's an excerpt from the article:
"Johnny Mercer, the former Conservative MP for Plymouth Moor View, who served alongside the SBS in Afghanistan, testified to the Afghan inquiry that he had spoken to former members of the Triples and heard "horrific" allegations of murder by UK Special Forces.
Mercer said it was "very clear to me that there is a pool of evidence that exists within the Afghan [special forces] community that are now in the United Kingdom that should contribute to this Inquiry".
The MoD began a review last year of all 2,022 resettlement applications referred to and rejected by UK Special Forces. All contained what MoD caseworkers on the resettlement scheme regarded as "credible" evidence of service with the Triples units."
Yes I watch GB news but not too much....yes they are a right wing news channel but do broadcast news stories that other news channels won't. They often have guests on with differing views which I enjoy listening to.. although it's annoying when they all talk over each over but it's lively..I think it broadens the mind to listen to all political comments. My opinions on immigration are not based on my GB news viewing but on my lived experience. Not everyone is in favour of mass immigration and they are allowed to have that opinion. So posters saying 'Some people watch too much GB news' have probably never watched the channel for any length of time. I see Diane Abbott is now an Independent because of her racist views.

Thanks for the link growstuff.
The article certainly makes very interesting reading!
To have left behind any of those Afghans who helped us is an absolute disgrace. As the article says, many will now be dead at the hands of the Taliban, or living in hiding along with their families.
Shameful!
The title of this thread has nothing to do with mass migration.
This thread is about the UK not fulfilling its promise of safety to people who helped our troops in Iraq.
Intrigued to know which Politician from which party mentioned the issue in the commons.
'Not all were kosher to the Armed Service' what do you mean by that?
Here who are?
Have you missed out some crucial information that would clarify your posts, Freya.
I was responding to a post about GB news and the watching of it... Yes we'll have to take the Afghans in if they helped British forces I agree with that...Tony Blair has a lot to answer for...he shouldn't have taken us into Afghanistan with the Americans in the first place ....Maremia is this ok to post?

I agree growstuff.
Some disturbing tropes are being rolled out on this thread.
I agree. It's misinformation promoted by Jenrick on manoeuvres to replace Badenoch.
