Afghan mess up

A real blunders- not by a civil servant - but, according to the DT, a Royal Marine responsible for vetting Afghan applicants. And one it took the MOD 18 months to realise and only then by an email from a concerned individual. The disclosure seems to have been widely shared on social media and the Taliban claim to have seen it too. Lives were put at risk and it was right to invite such Afghans to the UK but the case for secrecy and superinjunction was surely weak given the Takiban had the data.

I don't need to take it up with anybody. You seem to think that you're the centre of attention. I didn't target you or anybody else personally.

Hang on growstuff 😄
My acknowledgment of what you wrote is thus ( I love that word)
Your post was written as if I had once claimed ‘twenty times’.
It’s easy to quote a poster, as you did me, and immediately follow it with something that sounds as if the person being quoted actually wrote it.
Nevertheless I’m glad you went on to say that it wasn’t.

Now you're making things up. (sigh)

Is the heat getting to you?

I want the UK to take all those Afghans who worked with the British Army and now feel vulnerable to the Taliban due to the leaked email list to be able to claim asylum here.I do also want their criminal past, if any, to be investigated (if at all possible) and them to be warned about consequences if they commit crimes here if accepted.I know the HO will say this is the case but the more I see of officialdom the less I believe of it.

Violence and thuggery are now manifesting themselves outside accommodation for asylum seekers in Essex.

Police have been injured and protective fencing has been put up.

This happened last summer as a result of incorrect information being given out on SM. escalating into a full scale riot.

One female was imprisoned snd many fined for the nonsense/lies and incitement.

The trouble at this hotel started when an 38 yr old Ethiopian male asylum seeker, was arrested earlier this week and has now been charged with sexual offences involving a school girl.

Parents of the C of E school have alerted the police of their concerns numerous times over the last few weeks, of men hanging about outside the school and harassing pupils.

It was peaceful at the beginning, then outsiders turned up…

Apologies it was me who said 20 times more..I'll hold my hand up I worded it wrong. Hope that's cleared that up..

Was that The Bell in Epping, GrannyGravy13? DD told me about a man asking the school girls in the High Street if they wanted to make African babies with him.

Yes it is.

The Council, Police and local MP were all made aware, this situation should have been addressed weeks ago.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Jul-25 18:25:35

Not clear why that should involve violence.

Like I posted up thread, the locals were holding a peaceful vigil outside the hotel.

It was Antifa members from outside the area who turned up in masks looking for trouble. There was a post on Facebook telling them to meet outside the station at a given time.

Did they actually cause any trouble, apart from standing and chanting?

The video footage I've seen is of right-wing protestors attacking police vans and security personnel. Many of them are masked.

I'd be the first to admit that videos are selective and don't tell the whole story. How do you know Antifa were the instigators? Were you there?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Jul-25 19:02:55

I do know someone who was there, the locals and parents were not in masks, everything was peaceful, then a mob of outsiders arrived in masks attacking the police and the locals.

OK! That's certainly not what the videos on social media are showing. Some of the "outsiders" have been IDed as ex-Combat 18. The ones attacking the police aren't Antifa.

In any case, what were they protesting about? The man who has been charged with sexual assault is in court. What exactly are they hoping to achieve?

PS. What does any of this have to do with Afghanistan?

I have no idea, Whitewavemark2 bought this protest up, I just answered her 🤷‍♀️

I am not on Facebook, haven’t seen any videos as I have been rather busy teen sitting .

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Jul-25 19:12:49

What I don’t understand is why anyone is protesting at all. The alleged criminal has been identified and arrested, much like many other criminals in the U.K. and no one seems to feel the need to mount a protest with all the thousands of others with a similar crime.

Is he even in the asylum residence?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Jul-25 19:15:17

I brought up the protest groups because we’ve seen on here people alleging sexual crimes by afghans etc. it is inevitable given these allegations that there will be protests encouraged by SM.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Jul-25 19:16:02

Yes it has gone off at a tangent 😊.

The local MP has been trying to get the asylum seekers relocated out of this hotel due to the proximity of local schools.

It hasn’t been released as to whether the man is out on bail or in custody.

I don't use Facebook either, but It's not difficult to Google. I won't post one-sided scare-mongering comments without evidence.

I admit I've only seen videos of the racists attacking the police - there could very well have been videos of Antifa which haven't been posted. I'd prefer to wait until the police have have done their job sifting through the footage.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 18-Jul-25 19:36:30

Yes, I’ve only seen the racists - that is all the news is showing as well.

It is the usual not the brightest sparks in the box specimens. They all seem tarred with the same brush.

escaped Sat 19-Jul-25 07:40:14

I've no idea what anything has to do with anything anymore. Being out of the country for two months makes news from the UK rather disjointed, but when something close to home is mentioned here, it's worth trying to establish some truths.
I agree that some of these groups aren't the brightest sparks in the box, but the residents of Epping themselves are very much WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get. There's no hidden agenda in how they obviously feel about that hotel housing asylum seekers, and they're certainly not going to change their views. In fact, the worry is that trouble will now escalate in this quiet little town which has good traffic links to draw others in from other areas of the capital.

Nothing to do with Afghanistan, I realise that, nothing to do with scare mongering either. Thanks GrannyGravy13 for a bit of local knowledge. I'm trying not to wind DD1 up too much by asking.

growstuff Sat 19-Jul-25 08:18:28

Depends how you feel when you live there and what youre comparing it with!
It has its lively side, yes, but its peaceful enough for me to feel very safe with the grandchildren. 😆
