Hundreds of Britons have joined the Israel Defence Force, which is illegally occupying Palestinian land and has killed thousands of children in Gaza. Now lawyers are asking: Is their recruitment lawful?

Why should it be illegal to serve in anothere Army, and even paid more than the local soldiers- but legal to serve in the IDF- especially as many are used to protect illegal settlers and illegal settlements, or even to take active part in expulsions, often violent. And many taking active part in the current genocide?

Oreo It is not rubbish. I have included links to two articles that quote Israeli government ministers saying that that is what what the Israeli government intends to do quite clearly.

Here is another reference. This time from that most respectable of Labour supporting papers, The Guardian www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/07/israeli-minister-reveals-plan-to-force-population-of-gaza-into-camp-on-ruins-of-rafah

Just because you cannot believe something does not mean that it is not true

And just because it’s in the papers you can’t always believe it either.

The problem is that Hamas doesn’t care how many civilians died whether from bombs and bullets or starvation, Israel obliges them and is quite prepared for civilians casualties in attacks on Hamas.

We are still getting propaganda films on media, yesterday we had starving women and children on one, another featured a large group of men grieving alongside bodies ready to be buried. Those men were fit and healthy in fighting condition they are they starving the civilians to feed the fighters?

Both films were pure propaganda, women and children last in the food queue.

Oreo

And just because it’s in the papers you can’t always believe it either.

Of course you can when the news is on 10, 20, 30 plus news outlets in this country and overseas and on all sides of political divides and when varius cuntry leaders have all responded to it.

several countries have started to interrogate both dual nationals and visitors about war crimes in Gaza- either when returning home , or visiting as tourists.

''It’s unclear exactly how many foreign nationals are serving in the Israel-Hamas war. The IDF didn’t respond to questions about those figures or concerns that other nations might follow South Africa’s example.

Dual nationals make up a sizable share of society in Israel. Many children of foreign-born Israelis also receive second citizenship through their parents.

And Israel’s military has numerous programs to recruit foreigners to serve in the IDF, including in the “Mahal” volunteer program for Jewish people and as “lone soldiers,” who have no other family in Israel. The nonprofit Lone Soldier Center says there are more than 7,000 of them, with 18% from the U.S. and 14% from former Soviet Union states.''

So what? It’s their decision to join the conflict or not.

Claremont Mon 04-Aug-25 21:18:08

as said before, what if they chose to join the other side of the conflict, or another conflict altogether that you don't approve of, as dual British nationals.

The fact is, they will have to answer for their actions, and their crimes.

More and more young Israelis in Israel are refusing to serve in the IDF currently, even serving prison sentences and having their studies and careers ruined due to this. If someone from abroad actually volunteers to go there and join in this genocide and to protect illegal settlers violently taking other peoples' homes and livelyhoods, they are doubly guilty.

Anyhow, International Justice has made it clear long ago that following orders does not excuse war crimes. Volunteering for them, is totally another matter.

Claremont I don’t argue with your repeated comments about Jewish people who are anti Netanyahu, or refuse to serve in the IDF,
It’s important to acknowledge it works both ways. Many members of the north Manchester Jewishcommunity are considering moving to Israel as the place where they avoid anti semitism.
