Much as I dislike Trump I believe he might have enough influence to achieve this.

That's my recollection too growstuff.

It’s irrelevant whether or not anyone is a Jew. I don’t recall anyone being ‘bullied’ because they were Jewish. Disagreeing yes, bullying, no.
This is all about the Israeli government’s cruel and illegal behaviour towards Gaza and its inhabitants.

Claremont Wed 06-Aug-25 10:39:35

Exactly silverlining48, many Jews were very critical of Netanyahu's and the IDF's response from the start, and the number is increasing by the day. Saying that what is happening to the people of Gaza is inhumane, and illegal, has nothing to do with being Jewish or not.

I was reported a few months ago for saying that Jewish people and children in Israel and around the dispora in the world are being 'taught' to demonise Gazans, and see them as less as human, using all the imagery and words used in the past against them - reported and banned for a while. For saying the truth, which is very well proven and researched in order to shut the truth down. One could call this 'bullying' too- I didn't.

Claims of anti semitism should always be taken seriously and if true investigated accordingly as should claims of Islamophobia, I personally have not seen antisemitism on threads like this though it has often been used as a blunt object to beat others into silence, however, I have seen cases of Islamophobia where commenters dismiss all Muslims as being the same, backing Hamas etc. I don’t expect this to be taken seriously or investigated because it never is so here we are with a very disproportionate conflict and disproportionate threads on forums like this where those raising their voices in outrage against what is happening in Gaza are often mobbed and made to feel as if they are being antisemitic or proHamas.
It was like that when I left these threads in late March and the same when I recently returned. Btw I wasn’t suspended it was something far more serious which makes me wonder why when there is enough misery occurring in the world we seek to manufacture it.

It would only be for an anti semitic comment, or several as the moderators decide on these things.

There needs to be a long-term plan though. The Palestinians need to accept that Israel exists and is not going away. They must be given some land which can be called Palestine and then both sides need to accept each other. Surely the other Islamic countries can get together and organise a new state for them. Why are these things always left to us?

AGAA4 Wed 06-Aug-25 12:33:51

The Palestinians are well aware that Israel exists. They have been been killed, starved and had their land stolen by the Israelis.
Why should the Palestinians have to move frome their own land mum2three?

Smileless2012 Wed 06-Aug-25 12:34:51

Each needs to accept the existence of the other and that neither is going away.

Smileless2012 Wed 06-Aug-25 12:35:28

Why indeed AGAA.

Exactly.
And nobody should be forced to live like second class citizens and have their human rights abused or land/property taken away.
When I say this it sounds so weird that it actually needs to be said. Surely some things should be taken for granted.

Rather have you no shame butterandjam trying to make fun of a Jewish poster’s history of experiencing antisemitism.
She isn’t conflating anything at all, merely voicing a truth.

I didn’t see your original post or know about banning but am deeply disturbed that you regard my Jewish family, including my grandchildren, as people who see Gazans as less than humans. Several of their number are rabbis and we know many of their friends and community. I cannot think of one single person amongst them who would take the views that you ascribe to them.

A clinic has been bombed by Israel. Reuters. The killing goes on as Netanyahu promised. Another war crime.

AGAA4 Wed 06-Aug-25 14:10:14

Israel carries on with it's ineffective air drops. How can a mother with a baby run to where aid is dropped. It is being scooped up by those who are fitter.

I never ever accused your family, nor all Jews. I am saying that Jewish friends and other reports have indicated that in some zionist and far right, Ult conservative quarters, children are taught to demonise Palestinians and consider them as non-human. My post should have made that clearer, and for this I sincerely apologise. I have in the past posted videos and texts showing the kind of language used.

This in the context that a few here have said repeatedly that Palestinians and Muslims want to kill all Jews- never saying that 'some' do- but implicating that 'all' do. Which is patently untrue. I have family and friends who are Muslim, some the family of senior Imams in several countries- not one of them take the view some of you ascribe to them.

My own husband was Muslim but is now an atheist, many of his family and friends are Muslim and we have Muslim Friends. Am, however, no expert on Islam or Muslims everywhere, but those I know do not support terrorism/extremism having suffered this in countries like Iran or Saudi, and I know for sure that Muslims in Lebanon do not support Hezbollah in any shape or form. And Muslims in Gaza do not align themselves with Muslims in Iran because they are Sunni and Muslims in Iran are Shi’ite. In the Iran/Iraq war many Palestinians served as mercenaries against Iran in support of Sunni Saddam. To therefore believe that all Muslims speak with one voice is Islamophobic and unintelligent.

Babs03 Wed 06-Aug-25 15:03:49

All Muslims do not want to kill Jewish people but all those who support the extreme right government in Israel and turn a blind eye to what they are doing to Gazans will insist that this is the case.

Report from Denmark

Copenhagen, 5 August 2025 – A new survey of Palestinian living in Gaza by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) reveals a harrowing nightmare in Gaza, where a population exhausted by extreme hunger and multiple displacements is being systematically denied safe access to aid. Based on protection monitoring interviews with people in Gaza from 22 May to 27 July 2025 in 25 displacement sites in Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, Gaza City and North Gaza, the survey exposes the life-threatening consequences of the American and Israeli-backed distribution scheme and the severe psychological toll on a population with no safe haven. Key findings from the survey show a population at breaking point. A staggering 70 precent of respondents cited extreme weakness caused by starvation as a barrier to accessing aid. The physical exhaustion is so profound that many are unable to make the long journey on foot to distribution sites or carry heavy loads even if they receive assistance. Palestinians trying to access the militarized backed distribution scheme said they witnessed people, including family members, being deliberately targeted, shot, and killed by soldiers. Family members who died seeking aid were described as receiving "blood aid", or "aid soaked in blood."
