We sit by watching as children starve to death, their mothers’ cannot feed them and their fathers’ unable to provide them with food.

Every single calorie is controlled by one government.

Why are we allowing this situation to continue?

The Guardian reports that 193 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 2023 in Israeli strikes.
At least 193 Palestinian journalists have been killed since 7 October 2023, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), more than the number who died globally in the previous three years.
Others have been wounded.
Some worked for Reuters, some other media outlets.

According to Al Jazeera
The attack raises the death toll of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023 to at least 273, according to an Al Jazeera tally. which regards them as martyrs.

These people were and are certainly very brave.

“We hold the Israeli occupation, the American administration, and the countries participating in the genocide crime such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France fully responsible for committing these heinous brutal crimes.”
🤔

anniebach You just keep parroting the same things and you have already demonstrated that you know nothing about the past and recent history of Palestine and Israel.

I recall, about eight years ago, you complaining bitterly about the treatment of Wales and Welsh people when under control of England - eg, amongst other injustices, forbidding Welsh people to speak in their own language. Terrible, of course, but you weren't evicted from your own homes and re-located, by force, to just a small part of Wales, and you didn't see the land that had been allocated to you forcibly taken by those who wanted even more land.

How anyone can find excuses for this terrible destruction and massacre of civilians, I just don't understand.

I hold Israel totally responsible. What can European countries do other than condemn the actions of Israel.

Going in physically would be the start of a world war.

Allira Tue 26-Aug-25 15:53:04

Can you not argue the points, Eloethan, instead of making personal attacks?

Magenta8 Tue 26-Aug-25 15:55:07

Anniebach Hamas started the war

Yes we all know what happened on 7 October 2023 and it would have been thought unreasonable to expect Israel to take that lying down.

But to embark on wholesale slaughter of innocent civilians of all ages including aid workers and journalists not to mention the destruction of buildings, the blocking of humanitarian aid and all the other blatant war crimes, is indefensible as we near the second anniversary of the attack by Hamas.

I can understand why Eloethan responded the way s/he did. I think it needed saying.

Of course you do as it fits your own views.
It was a personal attack on a poster who just holds different views.

Gosh I must be grateful to England, hope you don’t expect me to cheer for it in the six nations Wales. Ireland. Scotland. France.Italy 👍

There are better ways of saying it.

It was really quite rude.

I don't agree with Anniebach's views but I will uphold her right to say them as I would for any poster.

Could this be the reason why those countries supported Palestine?
Israel stands alone , Palestine has much support in Middle East ?
🤔

I just quoted from a report by Al Jazeera.

It seemed to be a rather worrying statement.

AGAA4 Tue 26-Aug-25 16:30:50

Al Jazeera is run in Qatar so not very friendly towards the west.

ronib Tue 26-Aug-25 17:46:02

According to the BBC, the camera on the roof of the hospital was positioned there by Hamas.
The German government recognised that Israel did not intend to kill journalists. Who on earth is advising Starmer? Total embarrassment.

Aveline Tue 26-Aug-25 17:49:45

Of course they say they 'didnt intend to kill journalists'! They would wouldn't they. I suspect that Starmer has more accurate and detailed briefing.

I very much doubt it

ronib Tue 26-Aug-25 18:04:14

So Germany doesn’t have accurate briefing?

Aveline Tue 26-Aug-25 18:14:02

You doubt it? Oh well that's bound to be rightgrin Give some credit to our security services.

ronib Tue 26-Aug-25 18:17:58

Our security services won’t be involved in a camera put on the roof of a hospital surely?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 26-Aug-25 18:37:51

What everyone seems to be missing is that Israel has a duty of care under the Geneva convention to avoid killing civilians and journalists.

They committed a war crime with the first lot of bombing never mind the second. It absolutely doesn’t matter who put the camera there.

ronib Tue 26-Aug-25 18:46:32

And how about guessing what might have happened if the camera hadn’t been taken out? Shall we say that Israel also has a duty of care to its soldiers?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 26-Aug-25 18:54:57

International humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, makes the killing of civilians a war crime and holds both individual soldiers and their states accountable. A country cannot use "defending its soldiers" as a right to excuse or justify the killing of civilians. Instead, states have a legal obligation to investigate and prosecute their soldiers who commit such crimes

It was the IDF claimed the camera was positioned by Hamas not the BBC as you posted earlier.

Israel doesn't follow a duty of care for the Palestinians or their own soldiers
IDF leaders have said the soldiers are exhausted and the war needs to stop.

David49 Wed 27-Aug-25 06:52:45

Propaganda is the only weapon Hamas has no doubt images were going to be used by them for that, if not for military surveillance.
So now we know the score, point a camera at the IDF and they will shoot at you.
