Charlie Kirk shot

Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.

Charlie Kirk was only 31y. He was a devout Christian and loving family man with two young children, now fatherless this morning. What an indictment of intolerance when you cannot debate, discuss or disagree with someone else’s opinions without resorting to murder. This is what left liberal intolerance looks like.

I think there’s intolerance on both sides of the political spectrum. What this looks like to me is an example of a dangerous person allowed to be in charge of a lethal weapon.

I agree he should not have been assassinated and I feel for his wife and kids but I don't think he was as clean cut as some people think.

He once said
"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage."

Charlie Kirk (2023): "I think it's worth to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the 2nd Amendment. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe."

Jewish donors have been the No. 1 funding mechanism of radical open-border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions and nonprofits. This is a beast created by secular Jews and now they're coming for Jews, and they're like, "What on Earth happened?"

And it's not just the colleges. It's the nonprofits, it's the movies, it's Hollywood, it's all of it.

Jews have been some of the largest funders of cultural Marxist ideas and supporters of those ideas over the last 30 or 40 years.

Until you cleanse that ideology from the hierarchy in the academic elite of the West, there will not be a safe future. I'm not going to say Israel won't exist, but Israel will be in jeopardy as long as the Western children, children of the West, are being taught, with primarily Jewish dollars, subsidizing it, to view everything through oppressor oppressed dynamic. Until you shed that ideology, you will not be able to build the case for Israel, because they view Israel as an oppressor.

Charlie Kirk on bail for Pelosi’s attacker: "If some amazing patriot out there in San Francisco or the Bay Area wants to really be a midterm hero, someone should go and bail this guy out...Bail him out and then go ask him some questions"

These are just excerpts from 'Snopes' a very reliable fact finding site but you may prefer to read the whole article including videos of Charlie Kirk actually saying these things on his podcasts.

I am deeply deeply saddened, I was aware of him because of his stance on the men in women's spaces isdies, so I have been watching him for a long time.
I think I left the 'left' last night.

The left have nothing o do with this. The reaction of the left has been fine. The right has lived up to their normal low standards. Trump poured petrol on the whole thing. They forget how they didn't give a flying F about Melissa Hortmann, her husband and her dog all shot my a deranged MAGA nut. I personally think Kirk was sacrificed by Trump to create a state of emergency to justify his authoritarian crack down on the USA. Also Kirk had backtracked on the Epstein files and was once again calling for them to be released. I am a mother to a gay daughter married to a wonderful woman and I see Kirk and his ilk as a danger to them and to women generally. Saying Taylor Swift should submit to her husband indeed!!

I dismissed this idea as a Conspiracy Theory, but the more I think about it, it certainly is a possibility? Maybe not ordered by Trump, but it’s the sort of thing Voldemort Miller might do, particularly if he felt he was losing some power to this younger ‘upstart’??
I have to admit that all that is going on in the US now is almost beyond belief…it’s like an unending and very bad Soap Opera!

IOMGran Fri 12-Sept-25 14:29:41

If it were a soap opera I would cancel my streaming contract!!!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 12-Sept-25 14:29:52

Goodness, there’s some febrile nonsense on this thread.

IOMGran Fri 12-Sept-25 14:31:10

Yes, here you are.

JenniferEccles Fri 12-Sept-25 14:34:28

There are FGT2
We are now expected to believe that being anti-abortion is an extremist view.

Casdon Fri 12-Sept-25 14:36:52

I don’t understand why you continue to stoke the flames FGT2, thus contributing to the ‘febrile nonsense’. People have different opinions and are expressing them, that’s all.

IOMGran Fri 12-Sept-25 14:37:00

Stony gays is extreme. Expecting women to submit to their husband is extreme. Letting women die instead of allowing a abortion is extreme.

IOMGran Fri 12-Sept-25 14:37:15

Stoning.

Queen of the passive aggressive!!

Casdon free speech means hearing things we do not agree with surely…

He wasn't killed, he was murdered.

Could be manslaughter, diminished responsibility, or the wrong person arrested. People with mental issues sometimes confess to crimes they haven't committed. All this is speculation and pretty 'febrile' in the words of the PA Queen.

Casdon Fri 12-Sept-25 14:41:30

mabon2

He wasn't killed, he was murdered.

One is a subset of the other, surely? If you are murdered you are killed, but if you are killed murder is not necessarily the reason.

Applegran Fri 12-Sept-25 14:41:53

And the Democrat senator murdered on her doorstep, her husband bludgeoned with a hammer?
Sadly, hatred occurs on both sides. Charlie Kirk was less than respectful when referring to these attacks.
I deplore this man's death, as I do the senator, as I do the deaths of children in the USA. It is the leading cause of death for children between one and seventeen.
The problem is not left, or right, but the gun culture in that country. Those who defend if have blood on their hands.

Chocolatelovinggran I agree. Murder is always a truly terrible thing and should have no place in life including political debate. It is striking that murders of senior Democrats did not get anything like this attention from key people.

Jojo1950 Fri 12-Sept-25 14:42:38

Terrible. What on earth is going on in our world!!
😞😞😞

That’s exactly my point GrannyGravy13, we shouldn’t accuse others of ‘febrile nonsense’ just because they have different opinions to our own.

Goodness, there’s some febrile nonsense on this thread.

I must admit that I am seeing more and more polarised N & P threads this year.

I am rather fed up with the right is bad and aggressive tropes, particularly when some of the supposedly kind and caring folks (not just in GN but across all SM) can be just as vile as the next person.

Oh Casdon just no.
Have you read some of the vile posts on here? Beyond crass.

daughterofbonniebelle Fri 12-Sept-25 14:46:12

Gun ownership (no licence is required in Utah universities, so anyone can shoot any student) and political assassinations are part of the American DNA. Not sure why anyone is surprised.

Casdon Fri 12-Sept-25 14:47:57

I have FriedGreenTomatoes2. Responding to somebody who you disagree with and putting your perspective in return is the right way to to have a discussion on any thread. Flinging generic insults really is just fuelling the fire.

^But I will not mourn him. He was not a good person^

Oh how CAN you say such a thing Iamaround. He probably was a good person he just had different political viewpoints to yourself is all.

We need to learn tolerance. This vicious polarisation in society is not good.

You clearly don’t know much about him. That’s like you saying Hitler was probably a good person that just had different political viewpoints to yourself.
How many people in this country mourned him?

I suggest you go and do some research on him, they were not just “different political viewpoints” he had, the majority of his viewpoints were simply disgusting!
