I would never allow any of my children to be educated by anybody inspired by Charlie Kirk and Turning Point. If I were American I'd home-school or move state rather than allow that to happen.

The 'moderate' people are currently celebrating or at the very least 'explaining' why Kirk died.
If you are so sure the moderate views are right then you should be happy for anyone to hear opposing views.

I want somebody to explain to me how anybody is explaining anything before it is known who killed him and why. Social media has a lot to answer for.

Explaining why it isn't too bad that he was killed not explaining who did it.
Although it looks like things are developing fairly quickly on that front.

My definition is about the same as yours - a dislike of extremism.

That's why I wouldn't want any child of mine to be educated in an environment influenced by Charlie Kirk and Turning Point, which advocates an extreme ideology.

Apparently a petition garnered nearly 7,000 signatures calling on the faculty at Utah State to bar Charlie Kirk from coming to the Logan campus, where the event was taking place.

“Utah State University has consistently worked toward fostering an inclusive space for all its students and faculty. Letting a figurehead, whose speeches often seem to undermine the essence of inclusivity, use our beloved institution as a platform contradicts this mission,” the petition states.

Well once again - what price debate? It’s just ‘my way or the highway’ according to Utah State University.

Students might have felt strongly that he was a divisive figure, promoting regressive, misogynist, extremist views and thought hi presence would be unwelcome in such an institution where freedom of speech is valued but the University obviously felt that he should be allowed to express his views, despite the protests by students.

It was a Change.org petition by students and received 942 supporters.

Shooting occurred at Utah Valley University. If your quote is correct (I can't find that quote), it really matters not what happens at Utah State University 2 hours away - or maybe I misunderstand?

Here is the petition. It explains very well why they created it. Charlie Kirk went to college campuses to spread his hateful opinions and there is probably a petition for every campus he spent time at.

I’m just mindful that for all the speculation, there never was a clear motive established for Lee Harvey Oswald. There’s so much speculation, so much attribution, but very few facts so far. The chances are that whoever did it, we we will never fully understand - I hope we do, but if he kills himself or is caught and killed it will be difficult to get into his mind.

I will also point out that Utah is a VERY Republican conservative state.

In case anyone is interested, this is the shooter at the High School in Colorado. He was 16 and reportedly radicalized online, though they have not released by who. We also have no other information yet on his other victims, race, gender, etc so who knows what his motive was.

WRT the right to bear arms. I confess to being torn because America is VAST. Imagine living in some rural remote area and a bad guy turns up on your property. Swings open the gate and comes right over. What you gonna do? Ring the Police?? What, a hundred miles away if you’re in the outback? Good luck with that one. No wonder a shotgun and ‘come no further, get off my land’ is the preferred choice. That’d be mine anyway. Self (and family) preservation would be paramount.

Charlie Kirk’s killer was “not an amateur”, a former FBI officer has claimed.

“When you take a look at the venue, the distance, the stress, the concealment, the environmental factors, I would believe that this is not an amateur who just decided to find a rooftop on just any given day and got lucky,” Stuart Kaplan told The Telegraph.

“He was extremely disciplined in staying on point and completing the task,” Mr Kaplan added. “He would have had ample time to reload and shoot innocent bystanders. He chose not to, which tells me that this was a direct, deliberate, targeted attack to send or signal a message, and he took out Charlie Kirk.

“Maintaining your concealment and eluding and evading the detection of the law enforcement and being able to blend in and escape says that this person knew the venue. It was well prepared and well planned.”
